Congressional Plaza Barber Shop

I was a bit hesitant at first to use a local small business in the area. I’m more of a big box store person and I always got my haircuts at the Smart Style at Wal Mart.
I had this dilemma, in super over regulated state of Maryland nonsense there are either barbers or stylists. Stylists can’t use a straight blade, only barbers can and barbers don’t shampoo your hair. I like a straight blade on my neck but also a nice shampoo and wash after. Luckily this barbershop is right in the neighborhood and there is never a wait. Everyone super nice and efficient and they really go the extra mile. Straight blade on neck with hot cream. It’s not my favorite barbershop.

I have only brought my 5 year son here for a standard boys haircut. This place is a traditional sole proprietorship barbershop. Dave appears to be the owner with two other chairs worked by some nice ladies. My son in the past was cut by one of the ladies and they have done a great job.
However, tonight my son was way overdue for a haircut and we went out after dinner. I stopped in here again expecting it to be closed as it was about 615pm. Dave was about to transition out the door and the ladies were gone. He obviously had been working a long day since 8am. We knew he was finishing up and would not be disappointed if he chose to fully close, but Dave went the extra mile and took us in for a haircut. I gladly paid him a extra 3 bucks on the 17 dollar haircut.

Friday was the 5^th visit and my last. The owner has yet to say «good morning», «thank you for coming in» or «kiss my …» my first cut here was great when I gave the young lady a pictute of me to go by. The next one was so so. Hasn’t improved I’m tired of having my hair cut like they want it. Sitting in another shop in the area I found through Unilocal.Great experience. Three people said «good morning» when I walked through the door.

If you are the average white guy with the run of the mill 40 year old man hair cut, by all means, go here. If you are looking for skin fades, undercuts and other sorts, and more complex hair cuts, do not go here. Dave isn’t great and can only give the standard buzz cut. Maybe its time for him to retire. He has no idea what he is doing and does not listen to what you say. If you’re young, drive a bit further and find a better place. (Ideally Smittys Barber Shop — I made the mistake of not going to Smitty’s this time around)

Been coming here ever since I moved to Rockville. All four of the barbers are great and very friendly. They really know what they are doing and the price is affordable.

This is the most efficient Barber Shop in the area. I like a place that’s a quick in and out and affordable. Everyone here has had extensive experience cutting hair. This is my 3^rd year coming to C B S. I would recommend it to anyone.

I go here pretty frequently and it’s my favorite Barber shop in the North Bethesda area that I could find. This place is a classic barber shop that cuts guys hair most of the time. It’s a little hidden shop just across the street from Bed Bath and Beyond. I have one particular person I go to that is my favorite, but everyone can cut hair pretty well.
