Best Muay Thai instructors ever… The minute i walked in i was welcomed by a warm smile from Liz. At first i thought i wasnt gonna fit in because there was barely any girls. Eric was awesome he made me feel so comfortable. Honestly all four instructors were great. I loved my time there, i had to stop for personal reasons but when everything settles down in my life i will definitely be back. Bottom line this place is great, Very clean gym, Eric and liz make sure everything is sanitized well. And girls do not get intimidated by all the guys in class, it gets really fun when you become good enough to spar and kick their butts… :)

Eric Burdo is a terrific instructor — Apart from his skills in BJJ and Muay Thai, he’s a patient, understanding, kind and motivating teacher. The kids classes are wonderful. Not filled with the phony board-breaking super-hero stuff, but with practical and real-world useful techniques.

Richmond Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the best training academy in the area! I started training there November 2006 in their Muay Thai program. I didn’t realize they offered Muay Thai and I am so glad I found out they did. I had been training at other places for about 6 months prior to trying out Richmond BJJ and I learned more in the 1 hour intro session with Eric Burdo than I had learned over the past 6 months. No joke! In April 2007 I tried out their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class, per the urging of Trey Martin. I haven’t looked back since! I’ve been training at Richmond BJJ for the past 4 years and I consider that place to be my second home. Eric is extremely technical and demands the best out of his students. I have trained at academies all around the US and I am telling you, we have top notch instruction at Richmond BJJ.

Hot Sweaty and smells like bleach. Eric Burdo has run this joint for almost ten years; don’t be fooled by his youth or casual demeanor, he is a PROFESSIONAL. He’s one of Richmond’s longest standing black belts, and instructor to several of the guys that now run their own schools. ROOTS! There are more high ranking guys training here than anywhere else in town. There’s also a large student body and plenty of training partners at all times.
