My 11 year old son and i love this place! The phở is the best in Dallas and it’s family owned. Can get crowded but worth it. Would order to go phở for lunch and take it back to the office. Sitting rolls are great too. Wish we could find a good phở place here in Colorado Springs that compares

Bun Bo Hue is off the hook. Best one I’ve had anywhere. Taking into consideration that I’m 1 of only 3 non Asian people in here right now and the fact that 95% of the dishes coming out of the kitchen are Bun Bo Heu proves the point. The broth is so rich and perfectly blended, the beef tendon is melt in your mouth tender, all the different cuts of meat are perfectly cooked, and the sausage has great flavor. It could be a hint spicier, but you can do that at the table. I highly recommend this place if you are a fan of Bun Bo Hue. I also had some steamed shrimp and pork fresh spring rolls. They were very tasty and fresh.

I’m obsessed with their bun bo hue, which is their number seller! If you’ve never eaten here before, the first dish you should try is just that. It’s a spicy traditional Vietnamese noodle soup with thin slices of marinated and boiled beef shank, chunks of oxtail, pig knuckles, and small blocks of congealed pig blood, which looks like a cross between chocolate and tofu. Fresh, raw vegetables are then placed on top. If you don’t like spicy food, you can always request for it to be milder. I highly recommend this dish. The reason why I gave this restaurant a four star rating is because of the smell. The place is dirty and unhygienic, so if you want eat their food in a better environment, order their dishes to-go and enjoy them in the comfort of your home!

This place gets packed for lunch. And oddly it smells like smoke as if it was a smoking establishment. Maybe it’s a smell from the cooks in the kitchen(although cooks smoking is a stereotype). But after receiving the bun bo hue($ 8.95 small), spicy cousin of phở, within minutes, the smell emanating from the soup and the taste invading my nostrils quickly took over. This aromatic soup had pork feet for cartilage-eaters but you can request to have it not in the soup. And like with phở, this soup is served with greens for you to add. This soup was also a little too spicy for me, due to the chili oil, but I believe you can ask for them to not put the chili oil(not quite sure). However, the spiciness of the soup was offset with the help of thin cuts of beef and noodles. The service was good and the owner is a friendly woman. And of the 25 people I saw eat here for lunch, only four did not order bun bo hue — so that’s saying something right there. But the chances for me of coming back is still slim, because after leaving, I smelled the cigarette smoke on my jacket. Apparently it has stuck, but I hope Phở Tay Do makes the change and fix this.

Service here today absolutely sucks… I’ve asked for a refill of water twice and our table didn’t get a drink we ordered so we had to ask again. They didn’t bring out the small side soup with my rice plate until I asked for it and everytime we ordered something they looked at us like they did not understand or have any clue what we were talking about.

I love this place but seems like they have been going super downhill on service. Tables are always dirty. Never any spoons on the table. Drinks come out last and you have to remind them. Whether you speak Vietnamese or English, they cannot seem to get it right. When you emphasis the word«a lot» and have to keep asking for more, it gets a little irritating.

Beef broth was super fatty. I know this is a plus for some people, but I prefer less bubbles in my soup.

An authentic place in North Dallas for Vietnamese food. Phở-centric. If you’re not a soup person, there are only a few items on the menu for you. There are a few of the standard bun(rice noodle) and rice dishes. Most of the patrons were Vietnamese when we ate there, always a good sign in an foreign cuisine place. I had the Bun Bo Hue and it was a bowl of spicy goodness. Meats slightly mysterious in origin, but overall the spicy broth was delicious. Pay at the counter. A nice, family-owned spot.

Best bun bo hue in town! The portion is pretty generous, I can usually finish a large bowl else where but almost struggled to finish a regular bowl. I love that it comes with a good amount of meat, since I always seem to be left with noodles and soup whenever I have phở or any type of Vietnamese noodles. They’re not stingy with the side condiments(like, mints, bean sprouts, etc.) either, which is a plus!!!

Quick update to my review. I like exploring Vietnamese food all over DFW, and Phở Tay Do is a Vietnamese restaurant that I typically visit for its Bun Bo Hue(Beef Noodle Soup Hue style). This is based on a recent visit(9⁄2015). My Overall Rating — 2 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Return) Atmosphere — No Change — Basic strip mall restaurant. ½ Star. Service — No Change. Fast at taking your order, bringing it out, but you’ll never see them again until you pay. ½ Star. Food — I’ve recommended their Bun Bo Hue in the past, but either they’ve changed the recipe or cook, it’s not the same. Unlike phở, Bun Bo Hue is spicier and deep flavor. At least it used too. Our bowls came off being incredibly bland. Now, there was tons of meat/protein, but if the broth isn’t up to spec, it influences the rest of the meal. The signature red broth is there, but the flavor simply was not. The entire meal was underwhelming & that’s really a shame since this used to be a destination spot for me. No Star. Will I Return? — Yes. I have history with Phở Tay Do so I’m going to assume it was a bad day. Given you can get a nice meal for about $ 10, it’s has lots of value. While I’ll be back, I won’t promote them as much as I used too. 1 Star.

Overall, not as impressed as the other reviewers… Food: ordered the Bun Bo Hue(because of the hype…) and the special combo phở. Funny to note upon looking at the menu, the price difference between the small and large bowls of phở is like 40 cents??? Just go with the large bowl. The bun bo hue tastes similar to Taiwanese beef noodle soup. But spicy. Can be considered pretty spicy for some… The combo phở though! Very nice refreshing flavor but not diluted. Vietnamese iced coffee is always a safe bet! Service: not very friendly… All the servers are pretty much drop and go: dropping off menus, not saying much, dropping off bowls, not saying much, etc. But the bowls do come out very fast for a half-full Saturday early dinner. Ambiance: relatively clean… except for the couple of flies :/

If you come here, you have to try the bun bo hue! It’s one of the best(if not the best – though some of my friends would beg to differ) bun bo hue places in North Texas, and it’s super affordable. They use very fresh ingredients and herbs and the flavor is really authentic. The beef is stewed to soft, fall-apart-in-your-mouth perfection with just the right amount of fat, and the soup is loaded with a ton of other goodies like pork feet, pork blood jelly(it’s actually really good!!), Vietnamese sausage, etc. Sometimes it’s a little too spicy but most of the time it’s just right. Pro-tip: skim some of the red-orange oil off the surface if you think it’s too spicy. Oh, and another pro-tip: if you ask them to add a little more noodle they won’t charge you extra, but if you ask for extra noodles in a bowl to the side then they will. The extra-large size is huge though. When you first walk in the smell might throw you off a little. I think it might smell like smoke since people do smoke outside occasionally? Service is also average: it’s great on days/times where there’s not many people but pretty bad when they’re really busy. However, the owner of the place is really sweet and seems to genuinely care about his customers. You can tell he really cares and is very hard-working. The look of the restaurant is also pretty standard/leaves a little to be desired/family-owned vibe but personally I think it adds to the authenticity of the meal. No gimmicks here!

Came here for their well known bun bo hue! Definitely did not disappoint. Broth has the right about of spice and flavor and they were not stingy on the meat. Plenty of veggies were also provided although I wish they offered fresh cut jalapeños with it. Turn down the A/C and keep it cool! Everyone is there for your hot soup and leaving there drenched in sweat is gross!

This is one of those Bun Bo Hue hidden gems. I have never been disappointed with this place the countless times that I’ve been here. First off, DONOT order anything else but the Bun Bo Hue. There are many restaurants out there that try to compete with this place but one thing that makes it stand out is the consistency. It’s not a fancy restaurant and the cleanliness can be pretty scary. The food makes up for it though. I STRONGLY recommend coming here for the Bun Bo Hue

My mom took me here for lunch with her friend. Originally we were planning phở, but then decided something spicy would be better for a summer day. The place was packed during lunch hours. People were waiting out the door to get a table. Good bun bo hue, extremely flavorful and spicy. Wish they had a smaller size than what they have now. I thought I ordered the wrong size because the small looks like a large. Will come back when I’m in the craving for it again!

Probably most likely my favorite phở place to go from now until forever. The broth for the phở soup is so flavorful and it definitely goes well whether it is for a hangover or on a cold day! the meat is tender and the size is pretty good too! I usually just get whatever meat try one piece and give the rest to boyfriend because I don’t like meat in my noodle. but none the less it is good! I heard their other dishes are good too and I am determined to try everything else! care to join me? :)

Bookmarked this place due to the rave reviews. Was craving a rice dish, but decided to order their specialty Bun Bo Hue. Soup was blood red. You would think it is spicy, but it wasn’t. Reminded me of the Chinese red chili paste(which is mainly color, not spice). Wasn’t a fan. Although it was loaded with the meat, blood, and tendons of the dish it only had one chunk of Vietnamese ham and one pig foot. I made sure I finished my pig foot though(cuz that’s my fav part of this dish). Flavor was not what I am used to –definitely not mom’s Bun Bo Hue. Seems like they use the red coloring to «mask» the actual flavoring of the dish. I was not a fan. Maybe I am being biased because I’m not a BBH fan to begin with. My fiancé’s phở dish tasted«different.» He wasn’t a fan either. He had to put a lot of hoisin sauce & sriracha to make it taste decent. Restaurant gets crowded, no décor, just a rectangular room with hungry folks.

Their bun bo hue is really really good. The best I’ve had. The noodles have the perfect amount of chewiness and it’s not too soft or too hard. Their soup and everything in it is really good. I ordered it without cilantro but it was still really good. I would have given this restaurant a 2 but the bun bo hue was too good. I also tried the spring rolls. It tasted okay– I’ve had much better. The outer wrap was falling apart because it was too soft and everything was falling out by the time I was halfway through with the spring rolls. I wouldn’t recommend coming here to eat good spring rolls. As for service, it was not good. I’m sure it would have been better if I was Vietnamese or spoke viet. My waitress didn’t really know English and no one greeted me at the door so I had to just seat myself and get the server’s attention. And my waitress just plopped down my food and spilled a little bit of my soup and just left… I would’ve been very not pleased if the bun bo hue wasn’t so good. The restaurant also seemed like it was falling apart. Many of the tables were wobbly and he thick books to balance them. It just looks like they haven’t changed a thing for ten years. Overall, solely go for the bun bo hue. Don’t expect much form other things.

Although their name is Phở Tay Do or as I like to call it «Potato» they are known for one specialty dish and that’s the BBH(bun bo hue). If you’re super hungry, ask for the large bowl. You will see a difference. I like mine extra spicy but if you’re new, I would suggest asking for the spicy seasoning on the side. Then you can add to taste. I just wish they kept this place a little cleaner. They get really busy during lunch hours. If you get caught in the restaurant traffic, make sure to get the waiter’s attention to secure a spot in line. I’ve had a group of older men cut my sister and I in line. Not cool. Overall, still the best BBH besides my mom’s version.
