Lillian has been cutting my hair for about 4 years. She seems to just know what to do so it’s super low stress and always looks good. Wait is highly variable but the sign up sheet reduces that problem and she’s great at estimating it. She’s fun to chat with too :)

I’ve gone to this place 3 times. On the first visit she’s asked me how I’ve found out about the place and I told her that through Unilocal. One would guess, she’s hopped that I might write a review, so she took some time cutting my hair and I can say that I was pretty happy with the haircut. Next my visit was before 4th of July. There were quite a few guys waiting in line. I see some people say that I took them about 7 minutes for a haircut. I felt that it took about 5 minutes or less for mine that day. Last time I went and it wasn’t crowded. I asked her to pay attention to some details. And guess what, that time it, probably, took her about 7 minutes and I wasn’t happy with the haircut. I’ve decided it would be my last time there. Every time I went there, I’ve paid $ 30 including tip. The place hasn’t been remodeled in a long time, not very clean and it’s a bit messy for a woman barber. She had quite a few negative reviews lately and as you can tell, she ignores those people, unlike some other owners that try to reach out to their customers. I, personally, even if she would make an offer to come back I wouldn’t. Don’t waste your time and money there!

Lilian works really fast(haircut usually takes less than 10 minutes) and I always liked my haircut. The only problem is that wait time may be pretty long(up to an hour or more), especially on Saturdays.

I’m new to RWC, so I was trying to find a good haircut place. I asked Lillian just to «generally cut my hair shorter, but not too short», and the result was a 7 or 8 minute haircut that felt rushed and lacking in effort. When I realized she was done, I asked her to please cut it shorter — at which point she started arguing that she had«taken plenty off» and was very reluctant(I guess the customer isn’t always right?) So, I told her it was fine and just left. A $ 24 haircut(not including tip) that took well under 10 minutes, where she barely cut my hair, argued with me, and had a poor attitude — no thanks. I’m pretty sure most of the positive reviews here come from the married guys who enjoy attempting to flirt with her.

I came here hoping that I’d finally found a great barber in redwood city since all the reviews before me were pretty good. Unfortunately I was seriously underwhelmed. I came on a Saturday morning and there was an hour and a half wait. After waiting, my haircut took 7 minutes. When she asked how it looked I mentioned that I wanted the back to be a little tiny bit shorter. She proceeded to bring out the clippers and angrily shave the sides of my head to a ridiculously short length. I looked like an idiot coming out of the shop there was no blending whatsoever. She didn’t ask me if I liked it after her second butchering.

Just moved from NYC, so I’m trying to find a new place to get my haircut. I had a bad experience at one place and went to Lilian’s to fix it. I just had her even it out and trim it a bit. The whole haircut maybe took 7 minutes for a cost of $ 22, plus tip. For that price, I didn’t get a straight razor on the back of my neck or a hot towel when it was over. For the amount of time the haircut took and the lack of typical barber treatments, I felt $ 22 was way overpriced. I have generally paid about $ 17-$ 19, plus tip. The haircut was ok, but nothing special. Lilian was somewhat awkward and told me I must not have partied in college because I looked young. Some people just have good genes…

Today I needed a haircut and decided to look for a new place just for kicks. Someone near my office. .of course I Unilocal new old fashion barbershop in the redwood city area. Lilian had 5 solid stars so I decided to give her a try. Just in very polite, nice demeanor and third generation barber! Don’t get turn off that she is a lady barber. .she is really good. I enjoyed our chat and appreciated her blades being nice and sharp… good sign of her paying attention to her tools. I will give her 5* and will return. I came early to avoid the crowd since all reviews indicated that she is always busy .do great Unilocal tip! $ 22 cash only but did an awesome job. And she is really nice and friendly! :)

Living nearby I had been searching for a barber that did not charge an arm and a leg. I decided to try this shop as it appeared to be owned by a namesake. I discovered Lilian now owns the shop and is a terrific barber! Even though I’ve moved a bit further away I trust her judgement to do what’s best for me every time I come in and have never been disappointed. The trick is come in at a time when the wait isn’t too long. I’ve been reluctant to add to the glowing Unilocal reviews out of fear the wait for a haircut will become longer. But the wait is worth it!

my wife is super picky about our 3 year old’s haircuts. At one point she was paying $ 35. The biggest complaint is obviously cut lines/shelves in his hair and it seems the schools these days teach this because everyone we would go to would leave them. Went to Lilian and asked that she cut it so no cut lines can be seen. Didn’t tell the wife i took him somewhere else. I was pleasantly surprised my wife approved. The haircut was great and grew out perfectly. She knows her stuff. He got a treat at the end. Lilian has 2 customers for at least another 15 years.

I’m from So Cal and occasionally come up here for school every few months. I’ve tried other barbers in the area, but always end up leaving dissatisfied. Im usually very picky with how I cut my hair and only depend on my barber from orange county. While being up here, I desperately needed a haircut. I decided to try this place based on the Unilocal reviews and am definitely glad that I went! I went yesterday morning at 8:50 am and there were already 2 customers waiting in line. When it was my turn to get cut, I briefly explained to Lily how I wanted my hair and she began to cut. She is very quick and precise! My hair turned out great, just as good as how my original barber cuts my hair! I will definitely be returning when I’m in the area.

So this place is a bit odd when you first walk in. It looks like an old school barber shop with barber chairs, wall mirrors, 1970’s style décor, and just barber stuff lying around. There’s a bunch of chairs on one wall and Lily opposite those chairs. And having been raised for over 20 years getting a haircut at a traditional Italian barber shop as a kid back east, I found it odd to be at a traditional looking barber shop that has only one barber. A young woman no less. I’m not trying to be sexist, it’s just that most young women who cut hair prefer to do so in a salon or a hair«studio»(what does that actually mean???). But not Lily, she’s actually just as much home as the people who have been coming to this shop for years. She’s perfectly comfortable having 6 – 7 guys against a wall having«guy talk»(good and bad) while they wait their turn. It’s almost like a she getting ready to pick one of us out of a police lineup, except in this case you hope she does cuz then it’s your turn. Maybe it’s because she’s a haircutting ninja master but this place is pretty unique. She can cut through my woolly mammoth hair like a samurai in a pumpkin patch. And when she says she’s fast, she means it. Most people cycle through in 10 mins or less. You get called to the chair, sit down, start chit chatting and then it’s over. She cut quickly, precisely, and afterwards you just know you don’t have to do a close inspection to look for flaws. She readily makes suggestions if asked, follows requests of customers, and is always cheerful. The price is very reasonable considering the fast service and exceptional quality of the cuts. I went to 4 other places before finding Lily and some of them were okay, but Lily was clearly the best. It’s about as good a haircut as you can get if what you’re looking for is simply a good haircut. No scalp massages or hot oil curl treatments here… in case you were wondering.

I’ve been here 3 times. She’s really good, way better than some more expensive places that take twice as long and still aren’t as good as her haircuts. I have no idea about style, but I just tell her to make it shorter and she makes it look crazy good. Line can get long, bring a book or something.

Lilian is the real deal!!! She is awesome at what she does. That’s why there was a line of people before me. Just a little bit of advice for the people who don’t like to wait, if there is a line at a place like this, there is a reason. There are plenty of places around that you won’t have to wait at, but they aren’t as good. It’s pretty basic. The wait for a Saturday was not that bad, I thought. It was about 45 mins and well worth the wait. I’ve waited much longer for a terrible haircut! Anyone who gives her barber shop less than 5 stars is a fool. Having just moved here from MA, I’m am so happy to find a great barber and she is 2 minutes from where I live.

Before heading up to the city, I was looking for a local salon that would do as good if not a better job than my normal shop. Unilocal reviews pointed me to Lillian, and at $ 22 I knew I had to give her a shot. What a fantastic haircut! She convinced me to try a different part and it looks amazing given her incredible skill. I will absolutely be coming back to her next month, especially at such a great price.

I was in town for a meeting, and I was overdue for a haircut. I looked on Unilocal, saw that Lilian was only a few minutes away, and went there at 11.30 on a Wednesday. I waited about 5 minutes while she finished with another customer. I had to go to a store nearby to get cash, because she’s cash only. Once in the chair, Lilian listened to what I needed(a basic short-back-and-sides parting type thing) and went to work. She’s very friendly, we chatted, and before I knew it she was done — just the way I wanted it! This place is great. Basic but comfortable, very friendly, quick, quality work.

The haircuts are good and the owner is nice but she is the only barber here and there’s always a long line especially on Saturdays. if u can’t get off for a weekday and come in it’s just not worth the wait I’ve never gotten a haircut on a Saturday with less than an hour wait. I’m not sure why she’s not hiring other barbers or any help so right now she’s just running it by herself and can’t keep up with the demand

First, I am very picky with my hair. I have Asian hair so it is hard to cut. It took me five years to find My last stylist. just moved to Redwood City, I was looking for a new salon. Checked out Unilocal and found Lilian. The place was clean and friendly. I had a good feeling about Lillian and I was right. My wife liked the hair cut. I will go back.
