Toast and Phở is the most amazing restaurant ever. Go for it.

Was craving Phở and chose this place from the positive Unilocal reviews. The food was decent, nothing spectacular or mind-blowing. I would give Toast & Phở 3-stars for being average, but the woman behind the counter who helped me was completely amazing; one of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. There is also a parking lot that you can use(which I didn’t realize for the first 10 minutes trying to find a parking spot), which makes this place even more attractive.

Don’t let appearances fool you. This is terrific place for hangover soup. If you have an active lifestyle too, getting a good soup in you can keep you going for your workout. The lean brisket phở has been my favorite for months. Bean sprouts, jalapenos, and lime are usually included on the side, but be sure to let the staff know if you can’t eat cilantro or there will be a small mountain of it in your soup. The owner is hilarious and has a great memory for what you’ve ordered and what you like. I’m not sure if parts of the restaurant are under repair or being reopened, but sometimes staff will be doing prep work in the dining area or leave cleaning supplies out among the tables. If you don’t mind a casual environment, it won’t get in the way of your meal.

Staff tried to pawn off some sort of instant powder coffee drink in a mug as Ca Phe, the traditional French style drip coffee with condensed milk in the cup’s base. I brought it to the waitress’s attention. The waitress became rude when I asked her to take her Nescafe away and bring what I ordered. She did not, but the $ 4 Ca Phe remained on the bill. I refused to pay until the $ 4 was removed from the bill. WOW. I will never go back. This place is BAD.

The brisket phở is AMAZING. I have high expectations for my phở and this place is the bomb. It’s the first Vietnamese joint I’ve been to since I moved to Portland and I’m stoked to have to right next door. The Thai tea boba was also amazing. I got the crispy spring rolls that could’ve been better but hey I went for the phở and it was great. The service, on the other hand, meh. They were kind and took the order quickly but didn’t check up on you for water or anything through the whole meal. I will be back for more though!

visiting from texas and my husband started to feel under the weather, so he wanted soup. phở to the rescue! the place was empty when we got there, which was fine by us! the service was excellent. the owners were very kind and attentive. husband ordered the p0 and i got the p10. we also ordered potstickers and spring rolls. the food came out very fast! another couple came in while we were there, too. the beer was $ 1 off today, so we got kirin ichiban. the spring rolls had pork in them, which i usually don’t eat-but this pork was really good! it wasn’t that oddly textured pork that you sometimes find at vietnamese restaurants. the phở was great! the broth could have been a bit more flavorful, but it hit the spot. my chicken was very tender and my husband liked his, too. said it tasted like roast beef soup, which can’t be bad. i was a little disappointed that there was no fish sauce for the phở, and also no fried garlic.(maybe i’m a little spoiled.) all in all, it was a good experience. would come back if i lived in the area!

Some of the best phở i’ve had in Portland. I always get the same thing(P2) and am never disappointed. The lady that manages the place is super sweet and always greets me with a smile. Will be coming back to this spot as long as I’m in portland.

Best phở in Portland! I wish I lived closer to enjoy this regularly. Awesome service, really nice staff. The beef phở and veggie phở are both delicious. HIGHLY recommended!

This is my favorite Phở spot in Portland. The service is always great and the food is always quick to come out. I have been here multiple times for both lunch and dinner and have never had a problem getting a table. I usually get the lean brisket, chin. The Phở comes with a full side plate of herbs, bean sprouts, jalapeños, and lime wedges. The broth is rich and the bowl is filled with the perfect amount of noodles. A must try at such a fair price.

Good Phở. Good Pad Thai. Good Vermicelli. The spot is a Café style, so very casual.

Just moved to the NW Portland area and have been trying to find good Phở close to my apartment. Toast and Phở was really good and the prices were great also. I had the chicken Phở and it was amazing! So much flavor and everything was fresh! My fiancé, who is usually a picky eater, had the Longevity Noodles and loved it! We will be back! Also learned that they do Togo orders!

Toast & Phở has the BESTPHOBROTH I have ever had! No other phở joint in Portland or Vancouver come close. The broth tastes so meaty and the service is like eating at a friends place. The lady that is always here when we eat, always has a sweet and genuine smile on her face. If you’re in Portland, don’t go to the fancy Vietnamese places, go to Toast & Phở. You won’t regret it!

Are you kidding me? I just spent 50 minutes waiting for a bowl of phở on a Saturday night. They had a full restaurant and 2 people working ! That’s right two people! I am still speechless, and the owner tried to stop us from leaving and I said«no I’m going to go» ! The table next to us of 10, two of the people didn’t even get their food and were forgotten about, it was so disorganized that it pissed me straight off. A little tip, if you own a restaurant and you don’t have the staff to wait on the Saturday night crowd then«close your doors!» Don’t waist people’s time !!! I am sitting at Luc Lac writing this damn review ! I might be waiting for a table but at least my food is going to be prepared and brought to me once I sit down . Oh I’m sitting down now! Going to eat some phở now ! Smh

Love the phở broth! I ordered my phở to go as I was under the weather and needed something hot and soupy. This really did the trick. The broth is clean with a great rich savory beef flavor. Add the jalapeños and basil and it’s a delicious meal on a cold day. Also — they give you plenty of noodles. The only qualm I have is that there was very little meat. Next time I’ll just order without meat since I don’t care for it anyways.

We super love this place for the excellent food, service, easy parking garage and the cute little lady. That pretty much sums it up.

Wish I had tried this place years ago! Worth the try and will not break the bank. Way better than waiting for ages in the LucLac line and more authentic. I am so happy that I want to go back for dinner, and breakfast soup again tomorrow!

Great service very fast. The spring rolls were amazing. This is my new spot to get my spring roll fix. Phở was good and the combination special was good too. No complaints. Will be going back for more

Craving phở, unwilling to trek out to 82nd or the farther reaches of Sandy, and in trouble because our favorite nearby phở spot is closed on Sundays, we faced a low-stakes conundrum: how? Apparently Toast & Phở was the riddle’s right answer. With a name that sounds like something from the Lower East Side, Toast & Phở’s a bit of a riddle itself what with the split menu: breakfast in the morning, Vietnamese food in the afternoon.(But the appetizers and phở go all day!) While I’m not sure the menu’s claim that phở gives you energy all day and is therefore a wise breakfast choice is true(given the lovely nap I always want after a big bowl), I’d be perfectly willing to eat this phở anytime. Every phở joint has a different take on the broth: the version here is beautifully silky and thick, deep with layers of spices, and irresistibly enticing. Full of tender flank and noodles, it’s one of the few bowls of phở I had to finish entirely, using chopsticks and spoon to gather every last strand and sip from the bowl. As for logistics, this is an excellent location in that there is free parking in the two-level structure just south of the restaurant(enter from 21st just north of Burnside). You pay at the counter when you leave(though you do order from your server at the table). There are some teas on the menu but the big focus is on the vietnamese coffee, which you can have hot or iced. I’ve been to the other Portland phở restaurants that are, for some reason, more highly rated on Unilocal — and theirs doesn’t come close to being as good as the phở here. I’m glad the cloudy grey days are on their way, because Toast & Phở’s is the perfect winter phở given its rich heartiness. Now that I have two favorite phở spots to choose from, I can truly say this one is squarely in the rotation.
