TJ Maxx

I enjoyed shopping here during our quick weekend getaway. We are originally from southern cali so we got excited that there was no sales tax and the clearance prices were really low.
I purchased two pairs of Bandolino shoes for work for $ 10 each and got some really cheap underwear with good brand names. I got my Max Jeans for $ 7 and i think this has been the happiest time i shopped at Tjmaxx/​marshalls. Lol

Yay for no tax shopping. This was a well designed and stocked store. The no tax incentive got me shopping even though I was on travel and didn’t have any room for more stuff. Luckily, I was able to score a cute carryon bag on clearance here. I also nabbed some accessories and a few clothing items. Very convenient location for tourists. Glad I stopped in.

This place is spectacular. It is right in the heart of downtown. So many clothes, toys and so on are here. Lots of their items are also the unexpected, adding a bit of similarity to Goodwill in this dimension. Just go down the escalator below Office Depot, then you’ll be there.
Going here was great. Don’t miss the items near the cash registers. I saw a bar stool and some things that looked as if they could be from Brookstone. What I decided to get was some great sounding headphones for just ten dollars. I love the convenience, while we are known for our local places, we have this, an Office Depot, a Payless and a Rite-​Aid, along with a mall, all in close proximity.
Shop till you drop at TJ Maxx.

I live near this place and a Target. so between the two theyve got my wardrobe, storage/​organization, and food needs pretty much covered.
The shoe selection is meh. You’re better off going to the Nordstrom Rack a few blocks east.
Good amount of handbags/​purses, but I try not to spend any time there because I’m working on balancing my NEEDS and my WANTS.
Pretty nice variety of clothing — dresses, work stuff, exercise wear. And men’s too of course but I’m short on details for that section.
This place does have a pretty decent assortment of things that you’d normally find at HomeGoods, so that’ll save you a trip to the airport location. Right now it’s full of Christmas décor so that got me all excited when I went in earlier today… OH (or should I say, HO HO HO) the possibilities!!!
Be sure to check out the clearance sections. Pretty much everytime I come in here I find something I like among the regularly-​priced merchandise… and then snoop in the supersales and find the exact same thing with a marked down price! Score!

This is the best TJ Maxx I’ve been to. So much interesting stuff to pick through: especially home and kitchen.

I always like coming here, here as in TJ Maxx. So while in town and passing by I decided to stop in. Was kind of disappointed in how the store was mainly focused on just the female shoppers.
It other departments like a small men’s that carried a few shirts, pant, jackets and belts all stuck in one section. It had a home department that was focused on décor. The rest was all women’s clothes, women’s shoes and women’s jewelry. A few watches for men in the case and a couple pairs of shoes mixed in the men’s.

This is the wife’s favorite store so she was elated when we found it in downtown Portland. The store has different clothing styles and selection from the one in our hometown, so she was able to find some interesting stuff (according to her) at reasonable prices. The stock is eclectic and so I was able to walk around and look while she made up her mind (a joke). The store is clean and well laid out; the cashiers were friendly.

This place always has what I need. The store is well organized and clean. The shoppers are friendly. The only thing I can’t stand is, yet again, the workers. They’re very noisy, and unnecessarily. I mean, it’s tj maxx’s, I’m not shopping for a wedding dress or my dream house. I don’t need assistance, and if I did id come find you and ask. Just let me retail therapy shop by myself. ;-) as far as your pocket book goes, if you need a deal come here, it will leave you with something to spare! Quality is pretty fair as far as material and products come, just have fun in the «treasure hunts» and enjoy an afternoon of shopping!

It’s a pretty good tj maxx, little but smaller than the normal ones because of it’s location. But they have everything from home/​beauty/​girl/​boys/​men/​woman and juniors clothes. Lots of shoes too which for the ladies is always a plus ! The only thing that I noticed is they never have cat items it’s always mainly dog stuff.

What?! How has this TJ Maxx never been reviewed yet? It’s the biggest most cleanest TJ Maxx that I’ve ever been too! It’s like seriously the holy grail of department stores downtown.

I am a sucker for a bargain. I love stores like TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and Ross Dress for Less. I love everything about these types of stores. I do think that in downtown Portland TJ Maxx is nicer overall than Ross. Sadly, we don’t have a Marshall’s downtown… yet.
What do I love about these types of stores? I love the thrill of the hunt. I love snaring a designer or a brand name item for well below retail, I love pouncing on my unsuspecting prey and making it mine. Even the paying for it part isn’t that bad, well most of the time anyway.
I sometimes find cool jewelry, yummy smelling candles, lingerie, fragrance and of course clothing. They also have housewares and seasonal items.
Stock turns over rapidly and they are constantly getting new items in, so do check in often.

I dig this TJs if only for the simple fact that I can look around without having to fight my way through other people who also would prefer not to pay full price. They keep this location in great order, they have a nice clean restroom, and the temp is always nice.
In the summer I travel down the escalator partly because I want to feel the wonderful cool blast of air, and partly because I’m easy to thrill. In the winter they keep this place toasty. Genius! I always feel comfortable shopping!
Like I always say you can’t come here wanting a specific anything. Right now they have great deals on quality jackets. I was dumbfounded to find the exact Marmot jacket that I was wearing selling for half of what I paid!
The store is smaller than other TJs I go to but they do their best to have a good selection. The lines move quickly and I hardly ever leave empty handed. If you aer in the area and want to pick up something warm and want it to be a recognizable brand then stop in. At the very least you can peek some deals while you waste a little time downtown.

A total fan of this TJ Maxx… Its downtown and was within walking distance from hotel… This TJ Maxx is quite nice and very stocked with lots of different styles… Loved going here for dress options… They always have a well stocked inventory…
It is located below the Office Depot… It is much more inviting then the Ross down the street… My only drawback with this TJ Maxx is that their shoe selection was not up to par with other TJ Maxx’s that I’m accustomed to… Let’s keep in mind that I’m from the Bay Area and my shoe style does differ from Portland so I can’t be mad at that…

Great place for bargains and not too busy. Location is convenient. Got some nice Vince tank tops for a good deal. Saw some designer stuff but not too many. Would definitely recommend for great deals on clothes and home décor.

Excellent location and great selection. I was looking for a strapless bra, but didn’t want to break the bank since I’m only going to use it occasionally. Found one by Calvin Klein (excellent quality in underpinnings) for $ 20, a total steal!
The staff is really helpful and cheery.

This is actually a pretty damn good TJ Maxx. I was suffering my typical summer situation — I need office clothes (and shoes) that are work appropriate but also light/​warm-​weather appropriate. I found a really cute pair of blue wedge peep toes that look businessy and won’t have my feet overheating. Comfy too. And cheap! $ 20 for a pair of solid work shoes? I am grateful.
Also their housewares are a pretty good score. I got a thermal bag to carry my lunch to work. Oh this cute little place. It’s like a better quality Ross, or a cheaper Nordstrom’s Rack. It hits that sweet spot in between «so cheap and out of style I’m ashamed to be here» and «why is this outdated clothes more expensive than my rent.»

We left our umbrella in LA (sigh– see my Ross review for the longer version of the story) and even though it wasn’t raining when we got here, I’m pretty sure it will… when we least expect it. Murphy’s Law, yo.
Anyway, came to TJ Maxx after stopping by Ross and was pleasantly surprised by how warm and welcoming it seemed. You have to take the escalator down (or elevator, in our case) below Office Depot, but it’s totally worth it – HUGE TJ Maxx, but doesn’t feel as sterile and empty as the Ross (though Ross may have a bigger selection).
They didn’t have any big golf umbrellas (darn), so we just settled for a small $ 9.99 totes one (auto-​open, auto-​close). It’s definitely not going to survive any crazy windstorms, but hopefully the rain will cooperate over the weekend!
Great service, super set-​up, TONS of HomeGoods type products (though not a separate store) and would come back (no sales tax!)… if I didn’t usually live 800 miles away ;)

One of my favorite places to shop in downtown. They have a pretty huge space with a pretty huge selection of everything, really. Everything is so nice and organized, which makes the shopping experience better for me.
I haven’t gotten any clothing from them (yet), but they have a nice selection from what I’ve seen, although their shoe selection could be better. My favorite area though is the home/​foods section. They have a lot of really good kitchen stuffs and they have a lot of «gourmet» foods. I’ve gotten a couple of food stuffs from them and they were pretty good. I’ve also gotten a super cute tea pot there for $ 8. Score!
Another favorite of mine is their nail polish section. One of my obsessions is nail polish, so getting a bunch of nail polish there for $ 3 – 4 each when they’re originally $ 8 or so is awesome.
I’m glad TJ Maxx decided to open up shop in downtown. Yay for getting great deals!

I’m a long, long-​time fan of TJ Maxx, so I was happy to hear that a store was opening up in downtown Portland. No more driving out to the suburbs to bargain hunt.
I have to admit that after scoping out this location a couple of times over the past few months, I still found it difficult to locate it exactly in the Office Depot complex on Sixth & Alder. There’s a block or more of flags fluttering from windows, so I thought the store was actually near the flags; no, far from it. It turns out it’s in the basement portion of the building. I then had to decide how to get into the basement to get to the store. I finally figured out it was the elevator. It was not until I left the store that I saw that one could use the escalator in the Office Depot store to get to TJ Maxx as well. So, my first suggestion to the store is to find a way via signage to point out exactly where the store is located, otherwise it is surprisingly tricky to find.
However, once you get into the store, it is bright and well organized with a nice selection of goods that TJ Maxx is well known to provide. I thought it looked an awful lot like their sister store, Home Goods. I’m not sure about needing a greeter (especially when you see the greeter, having nothing else to do, shaking her booty to the Muzak as you leave). Stores with greeters make me uncomfortable at best. I just like to walk into a store and get down to business without having to greet someone back (yes, I know, I sound like a crank, but I do like to focus and shop, and greeters distract me from the task at hand). Prices are outstanding as usual, and it’s always so much fun to poke around and see what’s available and what surprises the store has for me to find.
It’s all to the good until it’s time to check out. The area on the way to the checkout line was so crowded with goods that I could not find out where I had to queue up. They actually had to have a «checkout greeter» to guide most of us into the correct place to get into line. That kind of rattled me, but they had a good amount of checkers to keep things moving along quickly. My cashier was friendly and helpful.
I will come back to be sure now that I’ve trained myself to find the store. I can’t stop loving you, TJ Maxx. You’re one of the few stores that can throw me for a loop and still keep me coming back. Good luck in your new location, but I think you’re going to make money hand over fist because I think the downtown shopping crowd is going to love you to pieces.
