Nice dive bar Just off of SE Burnside with pool tables and plenty of pinball machines to get your game on. 1 buck beers(Hamms) makes this the best place around to get that early evening buzz going without denting your wallet much. I’ll be back!

We tried the Bloody Mary on New Year’s Day where it’s $ 5 and you make it yourself. I made myself a really tasty and strong one from the selection of condiments and mixes. Dare I say it was delicious? I like the casual atmosphere. Played some pinball, Pac-Man, and enjoyed some day drinking there. The Jolly Rancher jello shots were cheap and tasty.

Yes! I love this place! Great prices, rad bartenders… one star so no one from California comes here and ruins it! :)

This place has gradually transformed into one of my favorite bars. The second time I came here it was on a particularly hot day and as my fellah and I sidled up to the bar we noticed boozy slushies. Whaat? Old Fashioned Boozy Slushies?! Yes, please! Dangerously good and they’ve beckoned me from afar thrice more in the last month. The bathrooms are clean. The patrons aren’t obnoxious dude-bros and the jukebox selections pretty darned good. Any place that has Fu Manchu instantly gets a swoon from me. Will definitely come back.

One of my favorite Portland bars in a great, convenient location.

We came here on a Sunday because they have $ 2? $ 3? micros all day and we read about it in the WWeek. Other than that, this place is pretty forgettable. This isn’t my neighborhood so I wouldn’t come out of the way to do this but while I was there, I was pretty happy. Outside area is covered and heated with propane rings at each table(I think, at least. Ours def was heated overhead with an attached tank underneath.). A-ok. Especially if it’s in your neighborhood. We didn’t eat anything, just cheap drinks.

this place is pretty great. if you read my reviews you know i’m not a big fan of loud bars… but, this place has great simple food, some fun events, an amazing patio in the summer and a fun vibe. so the menu, i had a friend who was sad they didn’t offer a simple burger, or any burger for that matter. i’ve learned however that they have a changing menu. there is a set 5 to 10 items up on the board but the white board down and to the right side of the main bar is the changing menu. i had the beet salad and it was phenomenal for a place that just has a simple side kitchen and no real prep time/space. beets with chicken, a creamy vinaigrette, crispy flakes and lovely greens. really a win for bar food. the grilled cheese was simple and perfection. i’m a fan! a tip: if you are a regular at the laurelhurst theatre you should know that your ticket gets you a dollar pabst at the standard that same evening i believe. you’ll have to do some asking as it’s not advertised but it’s a pretty rock’n deal for an already rock’n ticket price.

Although there is a great selection of pinball machines in relatively good condition, there was some truly awful service(even for a dive bar). Most of the time I expect a certain amount of negligence at neighborhood dives such as this, but The Standard really took it to the next level. Many tables were left un-bussed, and I spent at least 5 minutes attempting to get the attention of the bartender while she chatted with some regulars. It seems as though they don’t care that the environment they’ve created is both unwelcoming and a little bit gross.

I love this little gem of a place. If you blink, you might miss it because it is tucked away right off E. Burnside. From their big comfy chairs or bar stools, to their ample seating indoor and out, this is a great place for letting a friend or a group. I love their game selection, jukebox, pool table and my personal favorite, the photo booth. I’ve had nothing but genuinely great service here. They don’t welcome riff raff or douche bags doing drugs in the bathrooms. This is a seriously laid back bar tucked into a tight not neighborhood. Make sure to be aware of their evening«quiet times» if you plan to be outside. The owner is so awesome that he let us host a large party before regular business hours and came in to work it himself. I will always support this sweet spot and their awesome bartenders… especially Cari Carter.

This place has never let me down(except for the 9th inning of Game 7 of the 2014 World Series when they lost their Comcast reception). Cheap eats, cheap drinks, and a good atmosphere. Definitely on my list of dive bars to hit up when I’m in the mood.

I love standard and all the staff. Cheap drinks, super chill. I avoid it(like all bars) on the weekend, but during the week it is great!

Jessica is the best bartender in Portland and probably anywhere. The drinks here are stiff and you will be well taken care of. I’ve never seen a bartender wait for the line instead of the other way around like Jess handles it.

My favorite afternoon dive for sitting with a drink and a book. People leave you the fuck alone, generally. It gets kinda hipster-bro’y on the weekends, but if one tries to approach you, you can just throw a Hamms across the room — they’ll get distracted and chase after it.

Great dive bar. Extra points for pinball and cheap pool. Nice happy hour. Outdoor seating. Tucked away so easy to miss(good thing?). Makes the list.

This is a good place to hide and have a drink either rafter work or during. They have a pool table and some bar games like pinball, duck hunter, etc… it’s smack in the middle of a neighborhood though and hiding so you can walk right by it. The margarita and lemon drop were about as good as you can get without having all of the ingredients made fresh in front of you. I like it and I’ll be back. The only thing that could’ve made this place better were a better price on the drinks, they weren’t expensive though $ 11.50 for 2 drinks but being the atmosphere I would think they would be less.

First time to The Standard was last Friday. I have been hearing about it for sometime now and have always wanted to check it out. It is a little bit hidden and really divey, which I love! Great drink specials everyday of the week. I was only there briefly, but I definitely want to go back. On Sundays, they have $ 2 micro brews! You can’t beat that! They also have what looks to be like a killer patio, so when summer finally comes, you will find me sitting out there. Can’t wait to explore this bar some more!

It was a nice night to head out for the evening. My father took the kiddo for the night and my brother and I were meeting up with a buddy of his. The Standard was walking distance for us and only about two blocks away from where his buddy lives. I had been in Portland for a little over a day, and had only one local beer… I know depressing right? We ended up at the bar and my brother was surprised it was so quiet. I guess the norm is that it gets packed there. One thing that was odd was that after 10pm you can’t be out on the patio area because the bar is located within a community. There were a few video games including a Metallica pinball game and several people were around one of the buck hunting game. A few souls at the bar on their stools that all seemed to know each other along with the bartender and some music playing in the background. Beat up wooded tables and mismatched chairs added to the character of the place. They only had a few beers on tap but I settled on a local IPA from a place not too far away from where we were at(according to my brother). Good conversation, relaxed atmosphere and not loud. It was a good place to start our evening out.

Holy hot guys… geez. This place has a lot of really good looking single people. well maybe it was just me and that night? This place is happening. period. they got it all going on. I mean Photobooth. holla! Only $ 3. Can’t beat a deal like that. The music box is rad. You can keep busy with big buck hunter, pool, pinball, or a bean bag toss. Its like an adult playground and a bar :) The outside patio is heated. Very nice for those cold winter days here in PDX. Jello shots for a dollar are a great go around for a group of friends. The drinks are all reasonably priced and the happy hour is amazing. They only have about 3 beers on tap. Tons of cocktails. If you want food and it is crowded you may have to wait up to 30 min for food so you may want to get a proper dinner somewhere else. The menu is also pretty minimal and pub style. Like corn dogs and such. Good spot for large groups :)
