A neighborhood gem that keeps getting better. Simple but well thought out menu means you can’t go wrong. The pizzas are on point(perfectly cooked crust!) and app favs include the jalapeño poppers, garlic«knotts»(it’s off NE Knott) and the spicy marinara meatballs pack a tasty wallop. Mostly a beer guy, but I’ve tried The Pocket Tonic, Hemingway and Cherry Bomb… that last one several times in one evening. They’ve got a rotating selection of local beer on tap too! Chill, friendly environment. Adorable bar. Two happy hours a night. And Jen and Kara are absolutely amazing hosts. Totally worth your visit!

Great little spot with a chill vibe and tasty bites. Their jalapeño poppers are delightful although I could take them hotter lol(I love heat). Their garlic knots come with a cheese fondue that complement one another nicely. Their meatballs were average, but the spicy marinara they were served with was a nice touch. Can’t wait to try more things on their menu.

Expertly crafted cocktails and some of the best personal sized pizza’s you can find this side of the Rockies. I would highly recommend the Prosciutto pizza. Minimalist italian-esque design, the place is incredibly inviting; not to take away anything from the hospitality from the owner and server. Pocket pub is an instant favorite of mine… is a 6-star review possible?

This place is a huge win for the neighborhood. Love having this option. The garlic knotts are amazing. The white sauce that comes with them is so good that I wish they’d serve it in a large mixing bowl rather than a small cup, because I’d pour it on everything. Cocktails are great, and I like the pizza quite a lot. The big downside is that they bought this place from a pizza shop… so everything they cook is done in a pizza oven, which is pretty weird. I’m dying for some pasta dishes or other more interesting options. The menu is pretty limited as-is.

This place is a few blocks from our house and sits in a small community of shops on 7th and Knott. It’s the type of quiet, unpretentious atmosphere that comes in handy when all you want at the end of the day is comfort food and a bit of booze.

So. When I lived over in this hood 16+ years ago there was notttthing like this around. The County Cork was there. But that’s about it. We popped in for happy hour — hungry and thirsty and curious :) Ordered meatballs and a pizza for a «snack» yup that’s probably why my pants are tight lately. Yeah I get it. Friendly and smart staff which is always a winner in my book :) Yum — spicy meatballs! Great place to stop in for drinks/bites/food.

Our pizzas(both of them!!) were completely black and burnt on the bottom. Very disappointing. Garlic knots were tiny tiny balls of sour dough tasting bread, again very disappointing. The toppings on the pizza tasted fresh but it was hard to taste through the burnt taste.

Popped in to the pocket pub on Saturday night. Great Vibe… Sat at the bar. Great pizzas and drinks. You have to try it. Could be a date night or a casual setting with friends. Nothing like it in town.

What a gem! It was cozy, and a perfect place to catch up with friends. We ended up staying several hours. The drinks were great, and the food was even better. I personally enjoyed drinking the Pocket Tonic, and the meatball pizza with kale was an amazing late night snack. I’ve never had kale on pizza, but seriously, spot on! The staff was personable, and attentive. We spoke to everyone from the bartender to the owners. Totally felt right at home. Also, really loved the music played. Absolutely going back!

Jen and Kara work really well together, it’s very awesome to watch. They have a system down and it works, I really enjoy the atmosphere and the people!

What a great new spot! I went with some friends and we shared appetizers, salads and pizzas. We ate the spinach salad and the ceasar(which I LOVED), duck fat confit chick wings, garlic knots and a broccoli and caper pizza and some sort of spicy pizza that was amazing. The service was great and the food was awesome — we had a wonderful time. My suggestion to them would be to put a little more thought into the décor/atmosphere — it is totally FINE in there — but it could be much more memorable and unique!

Lovely! My husband and I tried a cocktail, a couple beers and a couple starters and we were happy with all! The Brussels sprouts with bacon were addictive, although a bit salty but that’s what we wanted really — a good excuse to drink more! The chicken wings were what chicken wings should be. Chicken. Wings. Not double-fried breaded, shrunken versions of chicken wings that mask the lack of chicken with sugar-drenched sauces. Best of all, the whole place is refreshing in its non-pretentious atmosphere. It is not trying to be the best new foodie destination; it just wants customers to fell welcomed, well-fed and pleasantly buzzed. Others may think it lacks atmosphere because they can’t see past the simple décor to realize the hard work, passion and twenty years of experience in the service industry that went into opening this place. We will be back!

The cocktails are delicious, food is good, and everything is pretty affordable. The owners are also really nice! Try the chicken wings! So good.

If there’s one word I’d use to describe this place, it would be ‘unremarkable’. In a city so full of delicious and affordable places to eat, this spot just doesn’t hit the mark. My girlfriend and I started with their spinach salad. The dressing was decent, but it was small for the price and nothing to write home about. I ordered a beer which was good and my girlfriend had a glass of the house red, which was suprisingly subpar for the 8 $ they charged. We didn’t order cocktails, which other reviewers seem to rave about here, so maybe we missed something. We split a bacon and brussels pizza, excited by the description, but everything about the pie was MEH. Toppings were decent but nothing to get excited about, and the crust was totally bland and flavorless. I love pizza, and I’d never return here for pizza after paying that much for a average meal. There are many places better tasting and priced pies PDX. The interior décor was uninspired, but the service was really good and attentive. I live in the neighborhood and really was excited to see what replaced Slice Pizzeria. Unfortunately this place just fails to impress in any way. I’d be willing to again in a few months to see if anything has changed, but I can’t recommend to anyone in its current state.

Where to start? I couldn’t be happier with Pocket Pub! It’s a cozy location that is built to serve! I honestly suggest you get here before the weather improves. They’re going to have a wait list… We ordered Knots. Most places cheap out on garlic and rely on cheap oil. Not here! You get garlic in the knots plus an amazing cheese sauce that doesn’t make you feel guilty(reasonable sauce portion). And at EIGHT pieces, great starter! These will start you drooling! We split a house salad. Fresh greens, nuts, house made dressing. Great portion for the price. Then came the pizzas! Luckily for my marriage we were no longer starving at this point or I’d be tempted to eat more of our pizzas! The Spinach pizza blew my expectations. Then the special pizza option was a moment behind. Whoa! Kale, leek, jalapeño, goat cheese with broccoli cheese sauce made us speechless! Wow! I debate posting this because if the place is _this_busy on Day Four and it’s early for a Thursday night, you readers are going to plug up my new favourite place to eat and drink! We’ll be regulars at the counter! See you soon!

I love when some of Portland’s best seasoned bartenders take a hike from their previous gigs to open their own bar! It typically works out for all the other service industry folks. Everything you ever wanted in a bar, with an educated outlook on how to pull it off. What to except from Pocket Pub, PDX’s newest little libation nook? Well, the building came with a pizza oven. So when owners Jennifer and Kara acquired the place, they hired a chef who designed a menu centered around delicious, crispy, dank-ass pies. Blackened fennel? Blistered Brussel sprouts? Goat cheese? A damn delicious mornay sauce(like a modern take on bechamel), hiding underneath all those yummy toppings? They’ve got it. Portland needs more neighborhood spots like this! No fuss, no attitude, no gimmicks. Just good food, local brews, and a place to prefunk before Blazer games. Welcome to the hood, Pocket Pub. It’s great to have you.
