Mint never ceases to amaze. This weeks exquisite lamb burger was absent of the bun, at this writers request, but joined with smoked gouda and avocado. A magnificent combination on an already delicious meal.

The good: The pineapple drop was yummy! The bad: Service was horrible. It took me 5x to get the waitresses attention to order. My friend had to literally hold her arm out to stop the waitress after trying to get her attention several different times. We asked a different waiter to take our order and he threw his arms up and said he didn’t know how are tickets were set up, that he couldn’t help us, and, get this, «you’ll just have to wait». Not he’d get our waitress for us, not an apology, Nada. Just«you’ll have to wait». I guess you can be that way when you have mandatory tipping! Why doesn’t anyone tip the nurses? Crap, I’m going to add mandatory tipping to all my patients, treat them like crap, and see what happens! Food not so hot. Soggy fries. Odd setup for a reserved space. Divided into 2 areas with a major walkway between so difficult to talk across. A mandatory 20% tip for horrible service and the typical line on the receipt to add your tip again. I think not. I won’t be back.

Planned my sister’s girls night out birthday outing here. I called and was reassured by Peter that he would make it special — saying he would let me choose a dessert for her on the house, and that they’d bring it out with a candle. The restaurant was literally empty — we were the only table. Waiter was inattentive and food took a long time. The menu has changed — it is very limited, so a few of us ordered the burger — I ordered mine medium well, with sweet potato fries. The lighting was pretty bad, but my burger texture was a bit weird, but it wasn’t until I reached the center(didn’t take long as it is a small burger), I realized that it was completely raw on the inside. Not pink, but mushy raw meat. I pointed it out to the waiter, who apologized and whisked my whole plate away(fries barely touched). They offered me another burger, but I had lost my appetite, so I asked if they planned to charge me, and he said«of course not!» The dessert came out(picked one for my sister and a few others to share) — they were unexceptional. The waiter hardly came by to check on us or to refill water. When the bill came, not only was I charged for my sister’s dessert, but the waiter informed me that he was only able to take 50% off my burger since it had been partially eaten! Unbelievable. So I pointed out that he took away the rest of my plate(fries, etc.) — and he shrugged and said«sorry.» Oh, and he tipped himself 20% since we had 10 people. Awful food, even worse service. Would never, ever go back.

We have been fans of Mint for years, but about a year ago we had a poor experience. Tonight we went back with trepidation, knowing that new management had taken over. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent uptick in the quality food. Previously, the tacos were small and pretty tasteless. Tonight, they were generous and VERY tasty. Drinks have always been a highlight and tonight the special, «Purple Margarita,» was superb. Staff was attentive and even shared hints on the drink recipe. Not many people in the bar for a Saturday happy hour, but there should be! Thanks for picking up the pieces Mint, we wish you continued success!

I frequented Mint/820 when I lived in Portland and I still reminisce about the atmosphere/ambiance and the food and drinks. I absolutely loved this place and my boyfriend at the time and I would go here at least weekly for happy hour. I’m so happy to see that they still offer some of my favorites, the lamb burger and the spicy caesar salad. I checked out their menu and it’s great that their prices have stayed reasonable because it’s been a few years since I’ve been there. I’ll be traveling to PDX this September, so I cannot wait to go there again when I visit Portland! I might have to go there every day since I’ll only be in town for a week! I love this place!

I was in Portland visiting from the Olympia, WA area, with some friends from Denver. They had been before, but I had never been! I ordered a Bella Cocktail(blackberry purée, vodka, lemon lime, sugared martini glass) for $ 11.it was very delightful! One of my friends had the jalapeño & pineapple margarita silver tequila(muddled jalapeño, pineapple juice, served up, salt) for $ 12, he said the jalapeño was omitted thus not enjoyable! My other friend had avocado daiquiri(light and gold rums, avocado, cream, lemon lime juice and sugar) for $ 12, he said it wasn’t as refreshing as he though it would be and I found it delightful. We also ordered some fried green beans with jalapeño dipping sauce for $ 9, it paired well with all of our drinks. We would of had a better time but it was very cold inside, and dispite being moved twice, and having jackets on we never seemed to be able to keep warm. The atmosphere was wonderful, the lighting and staff very friendly at trying to accomodate keeping warm. But overall all it was the coldness that made us leave early and head onto a place were we could keep warm!

I was super excited to try this place — as it has been on my list for years, and was thrilled to have a seat on their beautiful patio — with one of my favorite views of Portland. The drinks were delicious, and the service was fantastic. The food was such a sad disappointment. I came to Mint 820 because they have a reputation in Portland for locally sourced, quality ingredients. The Chocolate Mousse cake tasted straight off a Sysco truck. The cheesecake tasted homemade, but they were both covered in that terrible fake carmel and chocolate syrup that people who can’t taste think looks fancy on desserts. I barely ate half of the Lamb Burger I’d been waiting 8 years to try, and was so sad to realize that this place must have changed hands to someone who doesn’t love Portland.

I am so disappointed. This used to be a favorite go to place for me. I *used* to rave about the fried green beans. It has really changed. I’ve been here twice in the last 6 weeks and wondered if it was under new ownership. I asked tonight and unfortunately there is a new owner. I don’t like the new«décor» and the place was so empty on a Friday night… I couldn’t believe it. I won’t be back, it doesn’t have what it used to and the food quality has changed for the worse.

#78 Ahhh, my first meal in Portland, OR, it has been such a long time since I visited Portland. I lived in Portland several years ago, for a few years, and it was a different place. Now, it has a foodie vibe, and a hipster feel to it. I like it. My BFF took me to a place called Mint, and as we arrived I recalled I had dined there a few years ago, maybe three years ago on my last visit. I remembered it being really good with a crazy avocado drink and a chill vibe. Awesome, who does not like to relax after a plane flight? We were greeted right away by Reeva, who was eventually our server. She was personable and friendly, just how I like my servers ;) She described a few things to us and left us alone to order as we had a few more friends joining us. Once everyone arrived, we decided to share plates, so that we can try it all. We started out with a HUGE plate full of hummus, falafel, olive tapenade, pita and feta. This plate was really filling and everyone at the table was able to munch on it, it was so plentiful. To this, we added calamari, fried of course. The calamari was good, but nothing special, but that hummus plate was delicious. The falafels were so large and yummy. I may have been able to just dine on those with a little hot sauce, but that is not why we came. Here is where is gets interesting: Chris orders a pineapple melon drop, Theresa orders an avocado daiquiri, Dan orders a fancy Manhattan, Bryan orders a tropical punch with pineapple rum and banana rum, and I really do not remember what everyone else ordered – I just know everyone was happy with their fancy beverages. Now dinner: Chicken Sandwich Spicy Caesar Salad Chicken Quinoa Salad Bourbon Brown Sugar Pulled Pork Sandwich 3 Tiny Pork Tacos Everything was super amazing. My chicken sandwich was to die for. It was replete with a delicious aioli to cover it and a freshly baked bun. The Caesar salad was phenomenal, too. I think they may have added Siracha to the dressing, but whatever they did, it was working. Two orders of quinoa later, I was really getting stuffed. I did not try the pork items, but not only did they look appetizing, the people sharing them seemed to be fighting over who was getting the last taste of that pulled pork. The venue is dark, small, neatly decorated with ample seating. There is a back area that has a VIP looking table what actually is down a small flight of stairs and if our party had arrived about 20 minutes earlier, we would have been in that«mafia» type seating. Oh well, we can play Tony Soprano next visit. Stephani Smiles for Mint ;)

I came in for cocktails and they were absolutely delicious! The food was excellent but took a Vicodin before I stepped in so that was the cause of me not finishing my food. It did light me up and I ended up dancing on the table! Had so much fun I ended up passing out next to the dumpster out back. I will be back definitely!

The cocktails at Mint 820 are excellent, the best I’ve yet had in Portland. The cocktail menu is extensive and unique, and it’s my goal to try everything on it. My favorite is a vodka and beet juice number called the Ruby. The Foxglove and gauva cosmo are delicious as hell, also. The food is delectable, and my mouth is watering now thinking about the chicken fettuccini. The service is friendly and courteous, my favorite being the ginger server who is always nice and very charming.

What a disappointment! My cocktail was delicious(if outrageously overpriced) but the food was horrible. Pasta was seriously under-cooked(not al dente, but under-cooked), the Alfredo sauce was almost entirely tasteless, and when I ordered a side of asparagus, what I got was nothing but the woody ends, which tasted like crunchy water. The server was obviously trying to do a good job, but the food was just lousy. I would say that I’d go back for the cocktails, but frankly, there are so many places in Portland where you can get good drinks AND food that I don’t see wasting my money on this place again.

Staff is good but lacks leadership 4 stars for staff Drinks were tasty but expensive for inconsistent pours 3 stars for drinks Food was awful, cold, hard and took to long 0 stars for food Management was non-existent no leader to help the staff get through the rush. 0 stars Previously one of my highest recommended spots in all of PDX… Well times have changed, and it comes with great disappoint. Coming from the industry, doing mixology events with Lucy(previous owner and obvious heart and soul of Mint 820) the drinks were always consistent, food was always top notch and the service/servers were always cool under pressure. Last night the drinks were still tasty but pours were several once of inconsistent. Food was sloooooooow, cold by the time it got to us and a side dipping sauce has developed that horrid hard surface from sitting or sitting under heat lamps to long. Servers were trying hard but there was no sign of help from management or ownership, no direction ether. The staff was showing serious signs of frustration with communication, order issues and ticket times. I believe the staff is solid but have no direction or support. The menu and drinks appear to be the same recipe but the vibe is gone. Thanks for the memories Mint 820 but instead of being a destination spot for us it will now be a «If we’re in the area» and it will only be for a drink.

Stopped by to try a craft cocktail because of their excellent Unilocal reviews. First impression was how clean and tastefully decorated it was. We were greeted immediately and told we could order off the regular menus or the Happy Hour menu. The waitress also took time to explain all the ingredient of the few cocktails I had inquired about. I appreciate when q server takes a few extra minutes to give opinion of good or okay menu choices. I decided to order a Mint Old Fashion which was made with chocolate bitters… excellent! We didn’t have time for a full menu meal but we did have happy hour hand cut fries and sweet potato fries. What sets Mint apart from other established is presentation, crispness and dipping sauces. If you are a French fry or craft cocktail connoisseur you need to try Mint 820. First experience at Mint was perfect we will be back!

I don’t know how anyone can write anything but a great review I just had my birthday there and everything went seamlessly! The service was impeccable! Everyone raved about the food because the menu choices are great and the food is delicious! The drinks were a major hit too. I literally cannot wait to come back! And I know my friends will be back for more. Thank you Mint!!! Oh and the lounge area is decorated VERY nicely

Drinks were great as was the bartender. Then there was the bar food. Had to return the calamari it was so bad. Like eating a rubber band. Brought us a second plate… it was worse than the first. Tacos were extremely seasoned with hot sauce. What happened to this place? I used to love it and now the restaurant is empty. Sad.

We went last Saturday for a few drinks. Their fryer was out so we had the hummus appetizer and kept it simple. Food was good, drinks were great. I had the Bella and I highly recommend giving it a try. It was really slow when we went which was even better because we had attentive service(OBF was going on so I think everyone was down at the waterfront). Overall a nice place to chill and have a few of their signature drinks. The one thing that really bothered me was the light above their lounge area. It was dirty and had water stains. It also about a years worth of dead bugs in the bottom tray. It’s not that much of an issue, but when your food is underneath it’s kind of gross.

I am a huge fan of their happy hour and that lamb burger! plus Mint is a great spot to unwind and have a few cocktails with some delicious happy hour specials. the food:] did I say Lamb burger yet? regularly $ 13/$ 11 during happy hour also served with sweet potato fries. their roasted beers with goat cheese and arugula is a simple yet refreshing salad and the bruchetta of the moment on the happy hour menu is also a great choice to pair up with some hand crafted cocktails. Real Talk:] great place to unwind with their sofa style seating on the bottom level, nice outdoor area and great seating along the front windows. street parking is available about the nearby streets ALLDAYHAPPYHOUR: wednesday and sunday, plus daily from 4 – 6:30

It all started with a bad day at work… I was frustrated and rather than get on the Max to start my commute I picked a direction and started walking. Over the Broadway bridge, up Interstate and finally my rage had warn off and hunger set in. I popped open Unilocal looking for somewhere nearby with food and drink. This one my closest option that wasn’t a Rose Quarter sports bar. When I walked in, the bar was empty(I didn’t know about the patio out back and it was a nice day) but I’m content being alone too. I sat down at the bar and a friendly woman(who I now know to be the owner) greeted me, got me a beer and easily walked me to the conclusion that their lamb burger was what my life was missing. Right after I arrived she enthusiastically greeted someone else by name with a hug and a martini. This person confirmed my choice of dinner. This burger really is the delicious offering to fill the void in your life. Flavorful but not stupidly over dressed, tender and juicy. It was only after I was finished eating that I even knew it was very popular(I only loomed at stars, number of reviews and distance) I would walk all the way from down town again in a heartbeat. Keep this gem in business, Portland

I had my first kiss from my future husband on a bar stool here. Naturally, he brought me here seven years later last August to propose. The owner was so touched, she came over and congratulated us! What more can I say? BTW: the cocktails are fun, the staff is great and it’s pretty!

Ahhhh I really wish I can give them more stars. It’s a neat bar in north Portland. Great décor. Food was decent, drinks are over prices and service sucks. Would not recommend if those are important to you. I will say the best part about Mint is the backyard patio. On a cooler summer day it’s pretty and a great spot for groups to hangout. Unless I’m in the area and looking to just kill time, will not return. Better options not too far away.

Fab place to grab beer or cocktails before a show at the Moda Center, or otherwise. They have a kick’n patio and a good happy hour. I met a friend here before Cher and it was a great choice. The service seemed a little slowish, but the servers were running around — Mojito is legit and I highly recommend.

This place for dinner? Not so good. This place for happy hour? AWESOME! Great prices and their drink menus are great including some fruit punch, oh and their amazing avocado daiquiri. Be sure to come here during the summer time and sit out on their patio. Super cute with the type of lighting they use! One complaint is that they do close fairly early and so it wouldn’t be a great place for a night cap…
