Kind of bummed that the menu didn’t offer the same things as the one online. Went in for a Sunday happy hr and it didn’t seem to exist. Food was ok, and drinks were as normal as any other place… Probably won’t be back as there are so many other places on Alberta to visit.

Can’t comment on the food, but had a coffee infused porter & it was outstanding. And I’m not a big porter guy. Loved the Randall 3.0 machine they use to infuse. Made by Dogfish Head. Genius!

The patio alone deserves a star– it’s the perfect setting with lovely plants from Thicket garden center to admire. Tuesday we appreciate the $ 3 beer selection and the happy hour snacks. $ 3 for a huge basket of shoestring fries to share– yes please! The happy hour burgers were decent(too thin a patty to be cooked medium) but nice kaiser bun and plenty of fresh fixings. I’m looking forward to sampling the beer that Great Notion will begin brewing soon! Please don’t review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you’re connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Excellent beer… Amazingly perfect local Portland atmosphere. This is a little hidden gem in a great Portland neighborhood filled with great local spots. The indoor space is large and open with a rustic theme with a splash of local art. The outdoor space has a great garden setting that might be almost out of season, but great on a warm evening or sunny afternoon.

Tasty cream of mushroom soup! Legit beer prices on happy hour– $ 3.50 for house brews. Rad environment with eclectic lamps and funky old décor. Good vibes. Very relaxed.

Not a brewery. Just not a brewery. They don’t brew beer. If they brew beer it’s not available. I think they want to brew beer but just don’t anymore. I’d be surprised if they ever did brew beer at this not brewery. If they start brewing beer I may come try some but other bars do better. If they stop calling themselves a brewery I may drop in to have a beer, as well. Until then I will go to other beer bars that don’t claim to be breweries for 3+ years.

Great location off Alberta with tons of outdoor patio space. They brew their own beer onsite which is pretty cool considering the price of real estate in the area. I had a pale ale which was def drinkable but not the best I’ve had. My bf had IPA which was bit better than some of the others in the area. I didn’t have any food so can’t say much about that.

The beer was fine, but we stood there awkwardly at the bar for several minutes while the tender appeared to be counting change or something. He finally said, «I’m here for you. I’m just waiting for you to start talking. «all without looking up from whatever his task was. Who the hell taught you customer service?

Good beer and obviously a Saint’s kinda place. We visited on a blistering hot day and there were no AC or fans on but the company made up for it by the bartender. He was pretty cool and gave us some insights as to why there was a ton of Cajun restaurants around why there was an overwhelming amount of Saint’s gear all throughout the town. Apparently during Hurricane Katrina the government sent off a hand full of people to Oregon and thus started the meticulous diversity of the South and the Hipsters. We didn’t have the tots… sorry…

The food is good. They brew their own and it is eclectic and tasty. There is a full bar too. The outside seating is really nice. Perfect for summer nights. Free jukebox, sports on the tv, darts… I think they are a Saints bar. Overall, Ya, I’m a fan.

Great food and space… Terrible, rude staff. Had to ask to get seated, had to go up and ask to order, after we got our food no one ever checked on us until well after we were done. Note to the owner– hire better staff and you’d do much better, everything else was awesome. we would have ordered a second or third round of drinks but we never got the chance! The place wasn’t even busy. Not going back.

They used to have the BEST nachos in town, but for some silly reason no longer have them on their menu. Hey Mash Tun, if you’re reading this, BRINGTHENACHOSBACK!!! People we know used to come here from all over the metro area for them. So, despite the nacho debacle, this is my favorite neighborhood bar. My husband and I are here all the time. Its our go-to for both a date night and a casual afternoon of day-drinking. The beer is delicious, too.

Stopped in for a flight of all the house beers with the boyfriend after randomly stumbling across the brewery. To be honest, we aren’t big fans of English-style beers, but their brews were decent. The better: Britannia Bitter, Keel Haul IPA, Razorback Red, Kitchen Sink #12,

I found this place the last time I visited PDX to see my daughter and family. This time Im here investigating my inevitable move. Mash Tun is aleady my goto place. With GREAT house brew, wonderful menu(at terrific prices), a Tuesday all day HH to die for and an environment(including a backyard beer garden) that makes me feel all gooey inside…(and the whole NOLA vibe that feels real and not fake). I feel like I’m home and maybe in heaven. Oh yeah… and did I mention the jukebox???

My friends and I used to come here after Tuesday night trivia at the Cruzroom(two blocks away). I dislike their(the Cruzroom’s) waitstaff with a passion, so we haven’t returned to the Mashtun in a while as a result. Came here a few days ago and it’s a great bar to visit on Alberta. The staff is always friendly and they’ve got an ever-changing selection of beer on tap. During the holiday season, they had a Punkin Ale that was perfection. It’s not often there though. Tuesdays are the best nights to go because all pints of beer are $ 2! Super affordable. What a lot of people don’t realize is that the price is also applicable on well drinks. I prefer vodka tonics and rum & cokes more often than beer so everyone gets what they want at a fantastic price! If you want to get a pitcher(serves around 4), it’s only $ 8. To me, it’s not too much of a bargain as it’s the same price of four $ 2 pints. No extra savings, but still awesome. I very much enjoy the fries(there is also a happy hour) and their burgers are quite delectable. Large portions and filling for plenty of hours. This is a great place to get together with buddies or just watch the game as they’ve got a large projector and tv’s throughout the vicinity.

With only minutes between a text and my roommate pulling up to the house yelling«Let’s go!» we were off to lunch. We were heading to Mash Tun. It was a bit hot out, but in the shaded areas on the patio out front we were fine. Mash Tun is hidden behind Pine State Biscuits and right next to a little garden shop called Thicket. My roommate said the food here was really good. Not so much on this day. Service was fine and we got our drinks quickly. An Arnold Palmer for her and a blackberry oatmeal ale for me. The beer was suggested by our server and she said it was a good refreshing summer beer. She was absolutely correct. Very tasty beverage. Try one if you get the opportunity. As for our meal, well I got a cheese steak with jalapeños and my roommate got the Mash Tun burger. Now I stated earlier that my roommate has eaten here on many occasions. This is why she chose here to eat. The food we got was boring, bland and rather pedestrian. The only highlight were the fries. Crispy and full of fresh potato flavor. Nothing else was good. Her burger was a little overdone for my liking and they forgot the salt and pepper. My cheese steak also was just grey and lifeless. I could see the black pepper on it but, with the exception of the jalapeños, the veggies needed help. The cheese wasn’t even that great. Many of the Unilocalers I know have been here and have four stars or better, maybe it was an off day for Mash Tun. I may go back, I may not. There’s many more places for me to try and it’s odd that I have to give a subpar review for a place with a pretty stellar reputation.

I seem to have hit a string of pretty sub-par restaurant/bar experiences. I was super excited to go to the Mash Tun the other weekend. Having just moved to the eastside, I remember going to the Mash Tun once a few years back and really liking their beer. The beer is good, which is making me change this from a 2-star to 3-star review. The Feats of Strength was quite tasty and they make solid dark beer. The service and the food were pretty mediocre though. I don’t have super high expectations for a Pita Pizza, but at least make it a decent size so I don’t feel hungry afterwards. All you do is put cheese and processed sausage on it… for $ 8 at least make me feel satisfied. My fiancé ordered the nachos. The nachos were also weak. Last I understood, people liked to have enough«nacho» to use all the chips on your plate. These nachos had a minimal layer of cheese, far too many jalapenos, and maybe a small scoop of salsa on the DEFINITELYNOT«homemade» tortilla chips.(Seriously though, the menu says homemade tortilla chips. Maybe they were homemade at a factory, but not at the pub). We asked for a little more salsa to finish up the chips, and we got charged for it($ 0.50 only, but it was really annoying. We might have gone back at some point in the future for beer, but once I saw this on the bill, I don’t have a decent reason too return.) We went down the street to Cruz Room and had their chips and salsa. Those were definitely homemade there. They did not lie to me.

After a day out on Alberta, and around town, my husband and I took the opportunity to rest our weary feet at The Mash Tun while waiting for some friends to get off work. This bar is dark, comfortable(and for the husband, had some ‘important’ football game on that our wandering had previously made him unable to follow– phew!). I had the hummus plate, he had some beer. We waited in comfort, with a solid PNW vibe, and enjoyed ourselves; I’d go back!

Yup, a solid three starts. I’ve been here thrice and service has been about the same. All over you like glue until you want the bill — then the staff seems to sense you want to pay the bill and leave and they are gone. POOF. You’ll seem the walkin’ on by, but you legit will not get them to bring a bill until you do the oft hated«finger wiggle». Let’s take a step back. When I sat down with my friends, I was readily served, drink order taken and menu given. Then checked on about 2 minutes after I was given my drink. Neat… then 5 minutes later… then 10 minutes later when I finally was able to place my food order. I ordered my steak nachos(small) and they were pretty tasty. Even the small size was pretty great sized for food. I enjoyed. I tried mixed drinks and the IPA. Decent, not amazeballs. I will comeback again to see how it goes, but seriously? I just wanted to pay my bill: Why did it take so long to get there?
