The Staff at Close Knit have been so helpful every time I have been in; They’ve helped me find projects that will stretch my skills, helped me find the right yarn and needles for random projects, and have inspired me with the projects the staff have done. They have a lovely variety of yarns for all price ranges.

I adore this place. The yarn selection is amazing, I am a very picky crafter, and I take my sweet time looking at my options. The staff here doesn’t mind how long it takes me to browse through their stock, and they are very patient with my questions and knowledgeable in their answers. But the best part? The customer service. Today I stopped in to pick up some yarn and over heard the store owner calling around to find a specific kind of yarn a customer was using for a sweater when they had run out. I thought it was super sweet, and a great way to go the extra mile. They even remembered that the scarf I was wearing was made from yarn I had purchased from that store a few weeks ago, and admired my work. It feels good to support a local business that is so kind and genuine. Lovely store, lovely people.

I was on my way to breakfast and glanced over to see this store. What a find ! Yes the space is tiny but is packed with all of the beautiful and most popular yarns. The pricing is right. They haven’t over priced anything. It’s a cozy shop and I had great conversation with the owners. I will definitely return !

I stumbled upon this pass while waiting for my breakfast to finish preparing at a nearby eatery. They didn’t have a specific shade that I was looking for but they did have a good selection of yarn packed into the small but well organized store. Great customer service.

Small store with a big selection of quality yarn. Everyone in the store is super friendly and willing to offer advice on projects. Cozy little place to sit and work if you just need some quiet from the house. The prices are what you would typically expect from a neighborhood yarn store.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this store!!! I was visiting from California a couple weeks ago the lady was so nice that was working she said hello when we walked in and answered all our questions. My mom wanted me to make her a hat and she helped her pick out the right yarn for what she was looking for. I love that they have different projects done with the different types of yarn there not just knitting projects but also finished crochet projects. I loved the selection of yarns. I will definitely be going back to this store when I visit portland again!

Before coming to Portland from Tucson, Arizona, I was looking up some cool yarn stores to check out during my trip. After reading though all the reviews and visiting the store today, I was blown away by all the selection! They had all the yarns neatly organized and the store clerk was very friendly.
Although they didn’t have the color yarn I was looking for, the store clerk was nice enough to take down my phone number and told me she will call me sometime in August when her fall shipment of yarn will arrive. I’m looking forward to receiving my new yarns and will definitely be making another stop on my next trip!

The shopkeeper was very friendly and helpful but wasn’t afraid to just let me browse. That is a fine line to walk and I really appreciated her.
Lots of fun yarn to choose from, good location that was easy to get to. I would go back!

I just recently taught myself how to knit and have found that knitting stores love punny names. Close Knit is no exception (Clothes Knit would’ve been funny too). My newly found knitting circle calls itself the ‘Knit Wits’. We love puns too!
But I digress. The lady in the shop was very friendly and helpful and I was delighted to find a ton of yarn that wasn’t wool or alpaca as I am intolerant to both. I don’t know why but even after going to multiple knitting stores in SF/​Oakland, I have had a terrible time finding non-​wool yarn, and when I do, it has been pricey.
The shop lady at Close Knit, on the other hand, pulled a ton of options for me and gave me circular needle suggestions as well. I asked if there were classes offered and she confirmed that yes, there are. If I only I lived in Portland!

I took a beginner knitting class here last year and it was great! When I came in to pick up my supplies the people were helpful and the class was really fun. I don’t live in the neighborhood so I don’t stop in much now, but I totally would if it were closer to my house.

Definitely my favorite yarn store in PDX. Huge selection in a small space so it feels like you’re discovering treasures around every bend. The staff is fantastic: friendly and knowledgeable and so helpful. Wednesday night knit night is very fun and welcoming!

I love this yarn store! It reminds me of how a little yarn store on Hawthorne use to be… The owner of this store has a great eye and the store itself is cozy and welcoming. Lots of beautiful yarn. I am inspired every time I enter.

I hadn’t picked up a knitting project in 10 years, so I was reluctant to head inside when my sister insisted we look around. To my surprise, they had projects for all levels of craft, with tons of inspiring samples. The staff helped us pick out what we needed, and gave me the push I required to pick back up this stress-​busting art. In less than one week, I finished my first scarf after a decade-​long hiatus!
I’m looking forward to going back to treat myself… Cashmere cowl neck anyone?!

Awesome selection of yarn. They also do sweater/​scarf repair. The little hole I had on my scarf only cost $ 5 to fix.
Yarn prices are pretty standard in comparison to other stores. I love that they have a lot of sample projects showing you how the yarn turn out.
The ladies there were very helpful. Recommended washable wool for baby projects = great idea!
It’s def my go-​to place for hard to find/​match yarn.

Close Knit gave me my introduction to knitting. My mother’s friend offered to teach me the knitting basics and took me shopping here to buy my first skeins of yarn. The owner suggested that we buy the reasonably priced Cascade since I was a beginner so we didn’t break the bank in case I decided knitting wasn’t my thing. Several projects later this store is still my go-​to. Love the location on Alberta, love the selection of gorgeous yarns and absolutely adore the people working there. Nancy (a fabulous employee) is an amazing designer in her own right and I’ve bought her patterns. I’ve also taken their classes and they were extremely fun and helpful.
A small business definitely worth supporting.
