This is my favorite café in all of Portland. Everything I have tried there is absolutely delicious. The chai is nice and spicy, and they will add extra cardamon to it if you ask, the chimpanzee smoothie is to die for, the breakfast burrito is excellent, and their homemade granola with plain yogurt is excellent too. That’s all I’ve tried so far. I hope they open up other locations throughout Portland !

Went here for the first time today. Had a liquid sunshine smoothie and an onion bagel. Absolutely delicious and great service. Will be back again

Wonderful service and the best baked goods in all of Portland, if not Oregon. The Basque Cakes is so incredible. I miss it as much as I miss anything in PDX. Kelly is a pastry goddess.

Very good coffee and food. Had an amazing bagel sandwich and it was really affordable and tasty. I will be headed back to this neighborhood haunt!

Update: they use a different coffee roaster as their main coffee so for those who aren’t into acidic coffee, it’s been pretty great. They still have Sterling Coffee which I wasn’t super into but I’m loving Rusack! The prices may be a few cents more than other places but that’s also because their coffee drinks are DOUBLE shots. Yas pls.

Picked up lunch at the clearing café today for the first time. Cozy little space, but did not stay to eat in — mine was called and I picked it up to go. Quick service and the NW Veggie Sandwich I ordered was great! Very tasty without any mayo or cheese to worry about asking to be left off(I’m vegan). Would recommend this spot for a simple and delicious lunch.

My favorite cup of coffee in Portland so far. I could never grow tired of the«Honey Cardamon Latte.» «Chimpanzee» is a great smoothie option. Sandwiches, soups and the Kale salad are all great too. Friendly staff and great setting to get work done:).

I recently accepted a new job up in the NW area, off Thurman, just a block down from The Clearing. Upon learning that my new office doesn’t have a microwave(yeah, I don’t get it either) I realized I would be frequently outsourcing my lunch. Thank goodness for The Clearing. Their Northwest Veggie sandwich is THESHIT and I eat it literally every other day. I can’t speak to their coffee, though their baked goods are awesome, but who cares? Get a sandwich, thank me later.

The Clearing Café made the pies for our wedding last weekend; I have been hearing about these pies all week! The favorite was the honey cream pie which, though I didn’t get to try it, was noted to be heavenly by multiple guests. Kelley and her staff made beautiful pies for us and took our tastes and wishes into consideration when creating these delicious treats. Highly recommended.

I love this place! Granted It’s conveniently located across the street but their food and staff is super friendly and awesome. They make the best dirty chai I’ve ever had!

Had a honey and cardamom hemp latte from The Clearing this morning and it satisifed on the levels I generally require. The baristas seem to have a basic understanding of espresso, which I appreciate and their menu has some thoughtful recipes. Not a five star simply because my dream was not amazing, but would certainly suggest if you’re in the area and will be back here if I’m ever in the area in the early morning again.

Extremely cute place, stopped by there one day after we watched the sunrise at 6:30. Great coffee and warm environment, and the baristas were very friendly too. Something I disliked was how the paninis came out cold, I would’ve preferred a warm sandwich instead.

Good breakfast bagel. Satisfying cold brew coffee, which is problematic since I ordered a chai. Despite the blunder, my S.O. really enjoyed the cold brew coffee.

Oh, how I want to love the café next door! It is crazy close to me but lately the service and food has changed. But really my gripe is with the consistency of food. I get the same 3 – 4 things over and over(in the past year) and they always vary. Today I purchased the same salad that I have been getting for the last 2 months and it was half of the size and missing ingredients for the same price as the ‘regular’ salad that I had gotten in the past. The time before it only had half of the ingredients it usually comes with but was double the size of today’s salad. Like I said, it is so close that I will inevitably go back for an emergency coffee but will be more diligent in packing my own lunch.

This has been one of my favorite spots for years — best bagels, rice/bean bowl, coffee in town. The couple that owns the place are wonderful and they make the extra effort to get to know your name and make you feel welcome. Also, the wife makes all the pastries in the glass case(and the soups), which are not to be missed! Best coffee shop in town!

The Clearing Café is a neat little place on the edge of Forest Park. A simple menu, delicious coffee and friendly baristas who are willing to make conversation if you want but also totally respectful of those who just want to sit by their lonesome. Overall a place that I can see becoming a post Forest Park hike treat.

I keep visiting this café after my runs in the forest, and I keep getting disappointed. The main issue is not the coffee or the food but the ‘better then you’ attitude that I get from the people working here. I hope it changes, however I think I will search for a more friendly café until then.

Gosh, I really don’t know if the place deserves 3 or 4 stars. Nothing is wrong with this place… For what it is. It’s a café with cozy seating, mellow ambience, and just the right amount of activity to remind you you’re not home. Tucked away in the NW quadrant, it was the perfect place to visit this morning after a late night and desire for a comforting cup of tea. The staff, nice. The customers, adorable(I’m referring to a 4 year old talking to his mom about Judy duty, genetics, and fiber optics!) The only reason I give this a star less is because I wish they had a few more breakfast options. Their breakfast burrito was good, but a side of potatoes would have been nice. So, maybe I’ll come back and add a star. I’ll definitely be here again to enjoy some quiet time and a good book!

I had breakfast with my sister here in the summer and I remember it being really good. I can’t remember what we had exactly(a burrito and a bagel sandwich of some sort). The food was fresh and just the spot for me. Service was good and my sister had some type of coffee beverage that I remember being enjoyable as well.
