Do you like lines? Then you will love Sweedeedee. All bad jokes aside, the line moved pretty fast, we got a table after just a short wait, and the food was pretty tasty. The prices seem a little high for the portions, but I am willing to look over this as the baked goods are so fantastic, and great coffee is available.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet seeing that we usually go here every few weeks. Its one of my fave brunch places food wise, but the wait is onerous bordering on ridiculous. I’ll start with the good stuff, I love the food here. The corn cakes plate is my go to. Its not remotely healthy and I enjoy every bite of artery clogging deliciousness. If I’m going to eat pure fat, I’d like to enjoy it and the corn cakes never disappoint. I’m not a big fan of bacon, but here I am gladly stuffing myself with bacon(part of the corn cakes plate). Coffee and OJ are good, however I wish they would carry good old fashioned sugar on the self serve coffee table, and it would be nice if their lovely mugs were bigger. My husband usually gets the turkey sandwich, which is also delicious. There’s a nice list of lovely salads that look great, but my eyes always veer towards those corn cakes. As for the wait, its terrible. The restaurant is way too small for how popular it is. I absolutely hate their ordering system. You stand in line, order your food, and than wait to be seated(which can take up to an hour after ordering). On top of that it can take up to an hour to receive your food once you’re seated. Its actually quite painful and although they do warn you I would really try to avoid this place during peak times. Also avoid the honey cake(too sweet), otherwise this place is fantastic.

I waited in that huge line only to get up there and have them tell me what my meal would take 40 minutes to get to me. They said it’s because they are so busy and don’t have the tables. I offered to take my meal to go. She said that’s fine, but you can’t have what you want(corncakes) you’ll need to order something else. WTF! So presumptuous. What a dump.

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile but never did. Finally got to go in and was surprised at what a TINY space it was. i felt sort of claustrophobic to be honest. There’s nowhere to stand inside when you’re waiting unless you want to wait in the rain and the tables are all smashed together in a tiny space. The service was incredibly kind and nice! Food was pretty good, small servings for the price honestly. I think my veggie sandwich was 8 or 9 dollars? Whatever, it was fine. Will i go out of my way to go here? prob not. The only real complaint i have is that the ceiling was DRIPPING. Multiple times i was dripped on! gross! maybe they should fix that.

Waaaaaaay overpriced. Came in for a breakfast sandwich. 1 egg, 2 slices bacon, toasted bread(can say the toasted bread was fabulous). But the skimpy little sandwich cost 9 buckeroos. Yes, 9 bucks for an egg and two wimpy slices of bacon. wimpy wimpy wimpy.

I’ve visited this place twice now while I’ve been in Portland and there are zero regrets. I’ve discovered the beauty of all you can drink coffee and tea, and they have the most delicious type here. Most likely Extractor? I think that what it’s called, they have a ton of weirdly named stuff here. I had the egg sandwich(completely on point from the over easy egg to the rye fluff bread — whatever it’s called, it was extremely delicious.) Also had the turkey sandwich, which was delicious as well, another day. Best bread here that I’ve ever had used for a sandwich. Mayo, turkey, Swiss, super fluffy bread — how can I complain? the server was always cordial and respectful not to mention engaging. Every time I visited, it was bumping! Many peers from 20 – 35. Either way, highly enjoyable with more than enough deliciousness and friendliness to go around. Thanks and I will probably be back another time before I’m gone. ;)

I came here for brunch with a friend and was very impressed! Sweedeedee has a small but overall homey ambiance. It reminds me of my aunt’s dining room: very cozy, cute and friendly. The service was quick and friendly. The fellow behind the counter recommended their cornmeal molasses toast and I was not disappointed! :) I had the granola with yogurt and fruit with a side of cornmeal molasses toast. The mugs for the coffee and tea are adorable, too. You can have coffee while you wait and there’s creamer, milk and syrup to choose from. Prices are reasonable. You get a good amount of food for what you’re paying for. We did have to wait to be seated for a little bit, but then again it was on a weekend, which is prime time for brunch. Overall, yummy food, great service and a cute name as well! :) I’ll definitely be back!

The weekend wait was long, as expected. Unlimited self-serve coffee helps! We had an awesome, attentive waiter that made sure our cups were full so we didn’t even have to get up. Had the breakfast egg sandwich. The bread was amazing. Crispy bacon. Huge portion.

This place is extremely overrated. My friend and I were visiting from Seattle and did a search for good brunch restaurants. Sweedeedee popped up and it looked pretty tasty. When we arrived, a sign instructed us to get in line to order food at the counter prior to sitting down. This line took 20 minutes to get through and there were only 6 people ahead of us in line. We had to track down menus, as none were available at the front. The employee taking orders at the counter was exceptionally slow and disorganized. When we finally reached the front of the line after 20 minutes of standing, she informed us it would be a 45 minute wait for food. Thanks… Would have been nice to know 20 minutes ago. Also, you are asked to tip when you order! The hell? I’m tipping before anyone serves me and before I taste any food? We waited for our table and after being seated, it was definitely more than 45 minutes before getting our food. The order was wrong(I had ordered a substitute avocado) and when I informed an employee, they remedied it by bringing me a sliced avocado, half of which was visibly black and spoiled. Our meals consisted of food most people could easily make at home(toast, a single slice of cheese, sliced semi-brown apples, lettuce with vinaigrette and a side of jelly) and save themselves $ 14. This place was inefficient and smacks of desperately obvious kitsch. The food was mediocre at best with over ripened fruit and the counter was highly disorganized(20 minutes to take orders from 6 people who walked up to the counter for you?!) Very disappointed.

Interesting ordering system… Get in line to place your order first, then you find a seat. I had to ask someone about this as I wasn’t sure of the protocol. This is certainly a popular place! While waiting to place my order they informed us it would be about 20 minutes for a seat and about 45minutes — an hour for our food. Find of a Lin wait, but I appreciated they were up front with everyone about the wait time we would encounter. I was by myself so I got seated rather quickly. Their estimated wait time for food was spot on: just about an hour after o had placed my order my food arrived. It was delicious! I got the Sweedeedee breakfast plate, which can included a baked egg, bacon, toast, green salad, fruit, and a piece of cheese. One word: yum! It was so fresh and delicious. The bread is sweet and airy and it comes with marionberry jam, which basically tasted like pie filling! :D So good! The bacon was good and crisp, yolk in the egg was properly runny, and the salad nicely balanced out the meal. I will totes be back, perhaps either earlier or on a weekday that isn’t a holiday, I was pretty hungry by the time my food arrived.

Went here on a Tuesday morning for take out. This café is a popular spot among hipsters. but I do like it, everyone is nice. The ingredients used are fresh and organic. I believe they bake everything in-house. The only thing I wish they had was more options of coffee. They only have drip coffee. We got the breakfast burrito and egg, cheese, lettuce, bacon on their homemade corn bread. I had the burrito so I can say it was delicious. Their salsa is really good and adds flavor to the burrito. This may be weird but i like the way the burrito is folded and put together so when you’re eating it’s more like a pocket and all your food doesn’t just spill out: D We also had a slice of the honey pie, unfortunately I did not like it. Remember, it is a popular spot. I had to wait 30 – 35 min for take out on a Tuesday morning. You go in, place an order and then find a table to sit.

There were some hits and misses here, but I was disappointed overall. Sweedeedee has been on my to-try list for my last couple of Portland visits, and I was finally able to check it out on my most recent trip. We thought we got there early enough to avoid the lines(around 9am on a Friday, but it was before a holiday weekend), and the place was already crowded and there was a short line. The line doesn’t move that quickly since they try to space it out for the kitchen and also so you’re not waiting forever for a seat after you order. Since it’s small and cozy in here, you’ll likely end up sitting really close to your neighbors. We tried: –Corncakes(Served w/Two Baked Eggs, Bacon, Braised Greens, Maple Syrup, $ 10.50, ): Yum, these were definitely our favorite item, although they were very heavy. I definitely wouldn’t be able to eat this entire dish on my own, and was glad we shared this. The bacon and maple syrup were excellent, but the braised greens were weird in this dish and not very tasty. I would get this dish again but try to swap out the braised greens. –Almond Cake(Slice, $ 3.50) & Honey Whiskey Cake(Slice, $ 3) [ : Both were just ok, and very dense and on the dry side. The almond cake didn’t have as much almond flavor as I was hoping for, and I didn’t like the honey whiskey cake– skip! –Salted Honey Pie w/Coffee(Slice, $ 5, ): Pretty good, but not as amazing as I expected. It was too sweet for me, and I wouldn’t get this again. The staff here is really nice, but I’ve been to so many other better brunch places in Portland. However, I ordered more of the baked goods versus actual dishes, so this could have been where I went wrong. Based on this last experience, I doubt I would return. Parking in this area is also very difficult since there aren’t many spots available in the neighborhood.

Excellent atmosphere and vibe located in a small, residential neighborhood. From our experience, you should be ready to wait AND you should not mind waiting… just grab a refreshing drink and make yourself at home out front(but don’t cross the street with alcohol) and know they will seat you as soon as they can. My friend had the corn cakes and my hubby and I enjoyed the breakfast burrito — everything was delicious and presentation worthy. Service is attentive and accommodating. Portland boasts a lot of great dining experiences, but I was thrilled to be taken to this«out of the way» gem by a local and would totally recommend giving it a try if you haven’t already.

Indeed, I am a fan. There’s lots to like about this small neighborhood breakfast nook. A mellow weekend city feeling, bright, sunny and cheerful. The shelves next to the counter house a couple 50 LPs and a turntable which plays old tunes throughout! Lots of baked goods and a variety of options. I ended up getting a coffee and the breakfast sandwhich(7) w/bacon(1.5). Coffee, delish! The sandwhich was really quite something. The bread — super fresh and homemade. But I found the slices cut too thick for my liking. There were what seemed like less 1 peice of bacon added so it felt like the sandwhich was rather swimming in the toast to me. But the bites that were adequately proportioned… were so good! The service here was slow, quite. But super friendly! The counter girl even complimented me on my order! The line was often long and a little in my face because of my seat. So the place has its quirks. The layout, the line, the wait. But it’s just so darn cute, in appearance, vibe and taste! I wish it cost less. That’s my biggest complaint. Or that you got more for your money. But hey, that’s just me. I would award 3.5 if I could, but it’s hard not to be won over by this charming place.

I recently went back to Sweedeedee after a long hiatus and emotional reflection on our relationship. I am happy to report that this visit was much more pleasant, the service improved slightly, and the volume of the music was at a more reasonable level. Unfortunately, the wait time for food was still an hour. They really just need a bigger location, more kitchen staff and staff that are less stressed so they can be more friendly. That tiny building isn’t meant for that volume of business. Overall, good news: The beautiful marriage of toast and bacon can live on!

LOVE this place. I live over in the NW neighborhood, but this place is worth the trek. The ambiance feel straight out of Pleasantville: The staff is super friendly, and the décor is causal and inviting… great music too! The prices are also reasonable and the food is delicious — My husband and friend each ordered the breakfast plates and I opted for the egg sandwich(with Avocado added). Everything was fresh and the bread was TODIEFOR. We didn’t try any of their pastries, but the carrot cake looked sinfully delicious. Can’t wait to come back!

Artisan breakfast and brunch café with a few outdoor seats. Order at the counter and wait to be seated. Coffee and water is self serve and you can season your food with sea salt, pepper and habanero sauce that is available at each table. The bread is thick cut and the portions are plenty.

Solid food– went with the breakfast plate. I like that they use local ingredients. That being said, I had a similar experience to some previous Unilocalers in regards to the service. Horribly rude people! I sat down with my father at an open table only to be approached by a brown haired woman who admonished us loudly in front of other customers. Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and I wish we could take our tip back(we tipped at the register when ordering). Will not be returning. Two stars only because the food was good.

I can see why people say this place is full of pretentious hipsters, but if you’re looking the classic Portland Zoo where you can take pictures of hipsters in their habitat, come here. They definitely have some unique pastries and I definitely need to come back to try more. I only came for dessert, and my honey cake was fully of honey flavor and the fresh fruits on top were a plus. My friend had the almond cake and while nothing special, I wasn’t mad at it.

Sweedeedee does things a little differently, they have a system: you stand in a line to place your order at the counter first, then they put your name down for a table, you go outside to wait, they will call you when a space opens up and the food comes after you are seated. I could see how that could be confusing for some and I would see people try to save a table while their friend orders only to be reprimanded by a server. You get your own water, but they will bring silverware and bus your table after you are finished. I went with my sister on a Monday in the early afternoon and it was still pretty busy. I wonder if people in Portland work, probably not considering my sister was playing hooky that day. The place was packed and numerous parties standing outside waiting for tables. There were only a couple people in line ahead of us. We ordered the Sweedeedee Breakfast Plate and Corncakes. Sat outside for about 15 – 20 minutes before they had a table for us. Not a bad wait, but I heard it gets very busy on the weekends. The ingredients in the food seem fresh and made from scratch. I had the breakfast plate, who would’ve thought baked eggs would be so delicious! You don’t get the greasiness you get from frying it but the same consistency as a sunnyside up – perfectly runny. I am extremely picky about breads but the taste and texture of their brioche bread was perfect. Especially dipped in the yolk or smeared with the blackberry jam. Yum! Having fruits and a salad just make you feel healthy and good about yourself. The bacon was alright, but I don’t generally care too much for bacon by itself. Very hearty yet not heavy. This establishment embodies everything that is Portland – the wait for brunch, farm to table concept, the people, and a very hipster vibe. I love it!
