The sushi was pretty good. They give you complimentary salad and miso soup before your meal which is nice. The only reason why I’m giving 2 stars is because the older male worker made my friends and I feel very uncomfortable. At first he made a joke(in a yelling voice) to reuse our chopsticks(that we planned to anyway), and we laugh it off. He then came to us after we starting to eat, and he saw a small piece of rice on our plate(that we accidentally dropped then picked up) and told us not to waste food. Lastly when we were finished eating and shortly after we signed the check, he stood at our table and stared at us asking if we were leaving. Amazing price, good food, weird worker. All the others were nice.

Sushi was great! We ordered 5 different rolls, they were all very good. Service was good. They serve an iceberg salad to each person. Downside, they don’t serve beer or wine. They do have sake!

Extremely reasonable prices! Love this place. Staff are always incredibly friendly and service is fast. The portions are large, considering the low prices. Great for takeout or dining in. Food is great; chicken katsu is a favorite, and the nori they use for the sushi is well seasoned. Love that everything comes with a little salad to start – one of those small touches that makes the service feel better than average.

This is the nicest restaurant for the ‘regular’ level of sushi as that is my focus when I see a sign advertising sushi. And the fish is definitely wayyyy better than the take-home-from-the-groc-store type. I have been here twice now, and I feel like every time I go there, I notice more fun stuff. There are two(2!) sushi chefs. The owner walks around and talks to you! It has a real ‘dive’ and small restaurant feel, but the fish quality was nice. You always are given the miso soup when you sit down. Boom! And their dessert Natural 12 grain cookies are my Fave right now: yumyum I am still craving them. Be warned: the sushi portions are large! I ordered the Sushi Special for $ 16.95 and was filled with a serving of wakame salad, and usually I am not. The reason for this was that the sushi pieces were large, and I mean LaRGe. I can fit a piece of sushi in my mouth, normally. Here it took me two bites for each piece, which is nice but for someone as OCD as I am, not so nice: I like to be able to put the sushi in my mouth in one go and chew to allow the flavors to assimilate and surprize me. So having to take two bites with chopsticks diminishes that experience because there is no way you can get equal amounts of rice and fish. That wAs the one reason I gave them Four stars, and the hospitality is wonderful there – it grows on you. Good, cheap sushi=nice!

This bento/sushi spot near my hood is alright. Have I had better, sure of course. I have had worse too but this spot did it’s job and filled me up. I was greeted by one of the server’s who was busy eating but then directed me to a table. The place itself is not that big and it does fill up pretty fast. I went ahead and ordered the teriyaki chicken plate which comes with miso soup and salad. They arrived promptly and the portion is just the right amount. The soup isn’t bad — it’s simple and nothing to brag about. the salad is essentially iceberg with some carrot shavings and some dressing. Again it’s edible and satisfies the veggie requirement. The main entrée arrived and it’s a good size portion that filled me up just right. The chicken is pretty tender and easy to cut with. The rice isn’t dry nor is it mushy. I did get green tea for a $ 1 but sadly it wasn’t that great. It was pretty bitter and didn’t really taste like green tea. I think I’ll stick with water next time I visit. The sushi plates I saw looked interesting and maybe I’ll go get that next time with a friend who likes to eat sushi. The menu is pretty extensive and there is something for everyone. After I paid, instead of a fortune cookie I was given an energy bar treat something LOL.

What a fantastic restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly. I had the spicy chicken bento box. There was plenty of food that I should have been able to take some home but I couldn’t stop eating it. This will be one of our regular stops without a doubt.

We LOVE this place. We consider this our special treat to go to as it is pretty far from our house. The wasabi is well flavored and the fish is always in top shape. The rice is seasoned to perfection and the customer service is always great. If you were to ask me for my favorite sushi place in portland this would be it.

The miso soup, tea, and rolls were all great. The salad was fine, and Tamago was really good. However, the nigiri cuts were too wide and thick, making them extremely difficult to eat. And I’ve never seen Saba cut with so much skin on top. It was way too tough to bite and chew.

This place is called Sushi Kata but they have so much more than just sushi. I had the teriyaki chicken almost five times a month for a while there… then went to the spicy one, wooooo! Really good! It comes with a huge mound of rice, a cool salad and soup. Great for the workin’ man’s budget too — a darn good value. And they are always fast and friendly every time I go in for lunch or call in an order. No messing around. I can arrive get my lunch and go. Thanks Sushi Kata for all the good meals and good memories over this last year and a half. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone with good taste.

A great value, especially if you get one of their combo plates. The nigiri sushi rolls are huge, around twice the size of most Sushi places, almost as big as at Saburo’s in Sellwood. The quality is pretty good too, though not top grade, I’d say it is a little better than average. I usually need to spend $ 40-$ 50 at a normal Sushi restaurant to get full, but here I can do it for around $ 20. Here I don’t end up spending any more than I do at a carousel sushi joint, but the quality is much better than any carousel sushi place I’ve been to. I’ve only been there on weeknights and off hours since I read it can be crowded, and it is a small place, so I haven’t had to wait in line yet, and the service was pretty fast every time I’ve been there. The service seems fine, and servers have been pretty friendly so far.

The atmosphere is clean but pretty basic. An old-fashioned sushi station, no trains here… They greet you and you can sit wherever you like. They have bento, noodles, katsu… and lots of sashimi, ngiri and rolls! We ordered a feast of sushi rolls(super philly, volcano, dynamite, rainbow) and edamame. They bring out a salad and miso soup to start, and then rolls as they are ready. The fish was fresh, the tempura hot, and the veggies nice and crisp. They were delicious, though a few of them were rolled pretty loosely. No beer. Only sake.

This place is very busy. If you want to come here for lunch, it is better to arrive early(before noon) or you may not get a sit. This place is small and has about 10 tables. Sushi and terriyaki are very good. With every order you will get miso soup(nothing special) and salad(lettece with couple pieces of carrots). Tea is not free like in most sushi places(one star down). Overall food and service is very good.

Saw this place has high reviews. Drove out to try it and was not disappointed. I believe it is family owned, or at least has that vibe. Several of the other customers seemed to be regulars and carried on conversations with the Staff like they were all friends. The food was also very fresh and quite good. The vegetables were cooked simple and not drowned in sugary sauce. The miso soup and a edemame were great, and the sushi was fresh tasting, filling, and overall good. I will be back to this place again!

Overall, this is a place for decent food, with large portions, at good prices. The decent food can be hit or miss though and will come out in bizarre orders. Last trip, chicken fried rice came out first, which was my husband’s entrée. Then soup/salad came. Then one sushi roll. Then our appetizer. And finally the other sushi roll. Since the sushi rolls were my entrees, and the larger roll came last, I was left with a long wait for food. And an appetizer ¾ through the meal defeats the purpose. This is definitely an easier place to just order as small plates and share essentially since food comes in random order. As for quality of food, the sushi was fresh and enjoyable, large portions. The chicken fried rice… Wasn’t fried. It was all thrown in a pan and then served, it wasn’t fried, hence why it came first. It had decent flavor but not what expected. The harumaki had good flavor, but is an egg roll not a spring roll. The food selection is large, but the vast majority of rolls have imitation crab in them, which many people avoid. Service is slow but well intentioned. We’ve seen people had to get their own menus, silverware, etc. For the price, I’ll return but I’ll stick to the sushi and consider to go orders.

One of the best sushi values you will find. Two of us went… what would normally be 90 bucks was only 40. The quality of the fish was second to none. We had sashimi, sushi and rolls. All of them were great. Small little hole in the wall place with great service and even better sushi.

I love this place. I always order the spicy chicken teriyaki. The sushi is good as well. For the price you can’t beat it. The one thing they could use is beer! I would dine in more if they had a few brews available.
