This Starbucks here on Burnside is par for the course. It has the same Starbucks fare which you can get almost anywhere in the world. The location is excellent since it is located in an exciting part of the Kerns neighborhood. Unfortunately, the chairs lack the diversity that some Starbucks locations put in their chairs. Though they do advertise their evening tasting menu. I walked into this joint while waiting to go to a restaurant. The line was short mid-day and the beverages were as usual a bit much for what you get. I had the rasperry refresher before sitting down in a beautiful chair. Beautiful it was, but it came to close to another table, but not uncomfortably close. The seats and pricing were radically average. Starbucks on Burnside meets a reasonable person’s expectations.

With all the good local options for coffee it was not my first choice to stop into this Starbucks. I just really had to pee and couldn’t think. Yup, my reviews are fraught with TMI and references to bears and poultry. I am not even sad about it. Anyway, needing to pee in the worst way I made my way to this Starbucks that was pretty empty. I was struck first with how large it is and second with the fact that Oprah has a chai drink that I think they might not serve anymore in CA. I sort of wonder if she gives this tea to her guests to help them stop crying after the show is done and she wants to get home to Steadman or hang out with Gail… I decided to order a hot tea and had to beg for the key to open the women’s restroom while doing the most enchanting pee pee dance ever done. Ever. My tea was so hot that it took almost a half hour for me to start gulping it down. It was a chilly night so I did not mind this. The passion fruit flavor is actually one of my favorites so that was cool. It is fruity and also has a sour quality that makes it interesting. It is so easy to hate on Starbucks and as desperate as I am to be «cool» I was thankful for the nice café and the nice service. While it is a chain the staff were so cool and kept the place so tidy I was impressed enough to write a review that only a few people may take the time to read. Good job guys! :)

We go there a few mornings a week at 6am to get coffee and a sweet treat. I am severely allergic to lactose so I request and pay for soy and they forget 9 times out of 10 they put regular milk anyways(this place isnt even busy at 6am). I understand having an off day but unfriendly workers half paying attention to what they are doing may not seem like a big deal but if i half did my job people would have my head on a stake. So micro macro I would appreciate people putting the effort in. Also i use to feel bad requesting a new drink be made when they do mess up but when i speak up they are not happy at all. No im not pretentious but when i pay 6 dollars for a cup of coffee i want to be satisfied.

Why write a review about Starbucks you say? They are all the same… the McDonalds of Esspresso, the inventor of overpriced craft espresso drinks?, the publicly traded behemoth? Love or hate the coffee empire that Shultz built. I believe like many establishments the difference is people… The employees. And I want to give a shout out to SBUX(stock ticker –much easier to text«hey I’m at SBUX») Every employee is super friendly, attentive, a great memory and don’t do the following: Correct your drink order– my 4 shots over ice? Or a iced no water americano-who cares! The barista officiously drones a tall no whip non fat extra shot decaf mocha for Kat without eye contact? The new register dude– hey does anybody know how to wrong this up? None of that happens here… it’s a small SBUX in consideration of others… but my drink is ready literally before I pay… I know the manager ran a leg of the hood to coast. and one of the Baristas was excited to take her husband to the Capital City Grille… they have become… friends, or at least SBUX friends… people make the difference and I suggest you drive out of your way if you support SBUX… or at least own their stock:).

It’s a Starbucks, so there you go. I was in desperate need of coffee to keep me awake this afternoon and it was the closest to where I was at. I am no fan of corporate America but you know for people that rail on Starbucks, look, they do decent coffee, they provide health insurance to part-timers. How many coffee shops do you know of that provide health insurance to anyone let alone part-timers? It’s that time of year that they have pumpkin spice lattes. I really like that flavor. I couldn’t drink it year round but since it’s seasonal I indulge. I think the parking is difficult. So, yep, I did it. I parked in the whole foods lot. I know it’s wrong. My bad. I just desperately needed caffeine and was in fear for my life that I might fall asleep behind the wheel so I took the easy way out and parked there. I didn’t stay, just jumped right back in my car with my joe to keep me awake on my drive back to the Beav in Friday afternoon traffic. I made it home without falling asleep. Thanks SB.

I had the most helpful person ever, his name was Mike and apparently he lived across the street or something because he recommended a few places in the area to go out for a beer later that night with my friends that were visiting in town. He made their fussy drink orders without a complaint and looked happy to do it! I will definitely go back to this Starbucks because of him! Thanks Mike!

This location was a convenience stop right around the corner from Franks-A-Lot. I needed my chai fix before heading on to my next appointment. While they offer your usual quick turn around that you can expect at most Starbuck’s and the drink was made perfectly(actually best I’ve had recently), the two guys working the counter yesterday were not at all friendly. In fact, when my drink was put on the bar, the guy didn’t even call my drink, he just gestured to it and kinda grunted! Great way to lose two points quick. WTF?

This location is a hop, skip, and jump away from my sister and her husband’s house. So of course, I come in here for my morning latte whenever I’m visiting. Staff is always nice and helpful. I’ve been visiting this location for a couple years whenever I’m in Portland, and never had bad service. Drink is always made quickly/correctly and baristas are nice! Girl at the counter this past Tuesday took pity on me when I mentioned I had a 12 hour drive ahead of me, and put a couple extra snacks in my bag. This was the most awesome thing ever, as it saved me a few pit stops along I-5! Many Many Thanks!!! I’ve tried Crema down the street, but(brace yourselves), service is just nicer here. So yes, I would go corporate for that :)

Went in today wondering about Chai. Staff was unhelpful, and pretty creepy really. Their customer service auto-pilot was through the roof. When asked a real question they, gave answers to other questions, wrong answers, and confidently stupid responses until we just had to walk out no better than we came in. Second time I have been in a starbucks, solidly the last time. Always smokers outside the door.

Am i the only one who has heard of this little gem of a coffee shop? I saw the sign and thought it was some sort of intergalactic monetary exchange station. Then I remembered that we, as a civilization, have not advanced that much technologically. I walked in with Trepidation(my cat’s nickname, not fear/apprehension). I was disappointed that the new coffee cups don’t have writing on them, just the store logo. I looked forward to reading interesting tidbits about how Starbucks was saving the environment. Then again, if your master plan is to envelop and dominate all peoples and culture, you should try and not make a mess in the process. Just more to clean up after wards! The location is ideal: Looking out the window to my left, I can watch shoppers who have just left New Seasons, with groceries that define them as a person. To my right, the Laurelhurst theatre(I spell it the British way, primarily to show how culturized i am.) I have yet to set foot in said theatre, perhaps I am saving myself for a special movie(and you know what I’m talking about – Tranformers 9, due in 2014). The coffee’s warm and predictable, much like the aunt you have that wears too bulky of a sweater and constantly tries to hug you.

At this location there seems to be a lot more 30-something guys with iPads and sport sandals than what could be considered a normal amount. Otherwise, an experience here is about as nondescript as my review of it.

Yep, it’s a Starbucks. The coffee tastes like Starbucks coffee. The location is great – the corner of E. Burnside and SE28th. Within a block are Whole Foods, Esparza’s, Holman’s, Navarre, Laurelhurst Theatre, etc., etc. The staff is very friendly – pushing this location up to 3 stars for me. Plus, they’re playing Elliott as I write this, and that’s always good in my book. The interior set-up of this location is pretty spread out in comparison to most Starbucks – not too cramped or claustrophobic. Windows on both streets offer a prime people-watching location. All in all a perfectly reasonable place to get a coffee – so long as you’re into Starbucks, of course.

I have worked in this neighborhood for over 2 years now! The other independent shops in the area that serve coffee drinks look at you like you are a jerk if you don’t know what you want, or exactly how to order correctly. However, the service at this starbucks location has been great no matter who I get. The manager there is so friendly, and she makes it a point to try to learn everyone’s names and remember their drink. Star and Lalo always have a smile and kind words to share. The customer service alone is enough to bring me back time and time again! I never have to guess what I will get and whether or not it is quality. Chain or no chain, this Starbucks will always have my loyalty in this hood!

I like this particular location because it’s convenient-you don’t have to go inside some mall or shopping square and it has ample parking. It’s located right off of Burnside St., so I can just quickly pull in, get my morning americano, and skidaddle, just like that. And it has the most comfortable chairs out of any Starbucks I’ve been to in the area.
