Freakin’ adorable. Cozy ambiance striking the perfect balance between zen and quirky. On the dimly lit side which I really enjoy. Delicious(smallish menu) breakfast and lunch offerings and a coffee/tea menu that ranges from the norm to unique and exotic. Everything I have had is delightful.

Southeast Asian style coffee? Roti? Lounge couches? Count me in! A got the Kopi Soe Soe(Vietnamese style chicory coffee served over house kaffir sweetened coconut condensed milk). I had to go the decaf route & was excited to hear they had decaf espresso beans. I got the Kudai Susu(latte with house kaffir sweetened coconut condensed milk). We shared two roti sandwiches. The Roti Babi Kimchi + egg(bacon kimchi) and the Roti Jahe Ayam(lemongrass chicken with satay dipping sauce). The guy taking our order told us the Kopi Soe Soe would be at least 5 minutes because it’s a cold extraction. The drinks came out first. They were goooood. I actually stopped ordering decaf drinks in general because without the caffeine zing, they just never taste that great. I would order the Kudai Susu over and over again though! The roti sandwiches were awesome! We were tempted to order another just because they made us hungry for more. The lemongrass chicken is straight forward. Flavorful and delicious with the satay sauce. They both came with a small side of lime slaw too. The kimchi one had so much flavor going on! We were glad we added the egg. It made it very substantial. The sauce was hoisin like and good too. We hung out in the«downstairs» lounge area. It was already a bit crowded probably because people gave up the Screen Door line. I’m already dreaming of more roti…

I was in need of a java fix after a heavy brunch and this place caught my eye while searching for a coffee joint on Unilocal!I’m a sucker for Singaporean/Malaysian style«kopi» and got drawn into this place’s name. Though they didn’t have anything similar to that style of coffee, I was happy to support a small coffee bar. They’ve got an awesome coffee selection so you can get everything from pour overs to espresso based lattes. It has a nice Indonesian theme to it and the ambiance is quite lively. Their version of the Vietnamese coffee is quite awesome! They use coconut milk instead of condensed milk so it gives a totally different taste and finishing(and also vegan friendly). There’s this very nice lemon grass finishing as well, which gives it the perfect touch! The wait is a bit long as they had heaps of people lined up so be prepared to wait for a bit before you can get that caffeine fix!

Portion is a bit small but the rotis are excellent! lemon grass chicken roti — seasoned just right and roti and crispy and flaky. Kimchi egg roti — another delicious roti with an interesting twist.

We ended up going here because the screen door was too crowded. Way happier to have gone here. Unique menu where everything sounded great. I got the kedai susu which is a latte with kaffir-sweetened condensed coconut milk — highly recommended. Also, the kimchi roti and the lemongrass chicken roti were worth writing home about, if I did that. Maybe I’ll send an email home about them. Can’t wait to go back and try more things.

I work nearby this delightful coffee shop, and used to come to the shop before it back when it was Green Bean pretty often on my lunch break. I was extremely pleased to find out that Kopi East Asian Coffee House was just as good, if not better, than the place before it! First of all, they keep some of the same menu options as the previous location — if you want a vanilla latte or breakfast burrito like the previous café that was here, they make it exactly the same. Only now, with all of the Indonesian dishes and treats that the owner has crafted, you wont want to. The roti sandwiches are to die for, and I am blown away by how delicious their Moka Madu is. On top of all of that, the style of the coffee house is absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their food and drinks!

I believe I have found my new favorite coffee spot. From outside this shop looks tiny; I expected just a counter for to-go orders, but once inside, I was pleased to see barstool seating all along the narrow entryway and also a lovely, relaxing downstairs space off to the side – a sort of sunken living room with substantial cushy seating… the perfect place to catch up on some work or catch up with a friend. Such a nice vibe here! Although I can’t seem to quit the cardamom latte, many of the beverages on the menu piqué my interest. The baristas gladly offer suggestions for the undecided, and will explain how the more exotic drinks are prepared. I’m looking forward to ordering the Kopi Soe Soe, described as «a dark French coffee & chicory blended bean brewed in a traditional Vietnamese coffee press» dripped into their house kaffir-infused coconut milk. Then, the ginger coffee is next on my list. Locally made organic syrups by Holy Kakow are intriguing, and there are also a couple of syrups made in-house. Recent pastry offerings from Little T Baker included a decadent ham and gruyère croissant, a dense granola date bar and a flaky pistachio bear claw. Yum, yum and yum. I saw that they just debuted a street food menu too, which I will happily try. And, bonus: you know those chewy Indonesian ginger candies with the checkerboard wrappers that are so tasty? Yep, you can buy them here, by the piece or by the bag. If you live within walking distance of Kopi Coffee House you are sooooo lucky. If you have to drive, be prepared to battle a horde of Screen Door customers looking to park. It’s worth it though! Totally worth it. Order a cardamom latte and any post-parking stress will instantly melt away.

Everything I’ve had to eat here has been amazing. Their lemongrass chicken roti with peanut sauce? Heavenly. Bacon, kimchi roti with tillamook white cheddar? Gotta have it! This place is killer. They have fresh Juice and eclectic coffee drinks. Please support it and keep them going!

I live around the corner and have been coming here since it was Green Beans. The new owners are awesome, friendly people, have made some really amazing changes to the interior of the shop and have introduced some amazing new drinks to the menu. There’s a great bar upstairs with stools for standing and working or sitting and working or just hanging out with your coffee and reading the Merc. There are some outdoor tables to enjoy your beverage at on those rare sunny winter days in Portland, and the downstairs has super comfy couches and chairs for relaxing and working or reading, or whatever else you might want to do. Their new menu looks amazing, and I have heard nothing but good things about it from people coming and going, I can’t wait to try it all!

Finding a friendly coffee shop in Portland is almost as rare as a unicorn in this town. A woman is who helped me. She answered all my questions gave me a sample of their house coffee which had ginger in it. It was one of the most delcious coffee I have ever tasted. I ordered their Vanilla late which can I say the best! The syrup is out of this world. If you want a good cup of coffee served with a friendly smile this is the coffee shop you should try.

This place just opened up a few weeks ago, and it is awesome! The location used to be Green Bean coffee, which was a fun place if a little divey. The new owner improved on the décor, and added a unique flare to your traditional coffee house by having part of the offerings be his take on Indonesian style coffee and tea. I asked him to make me something unique to their location, and it was one of the best coffee based drinks I’ve ever had. A key ingredient to the drink was ginger. The coffee was already delicious, but the ginger added a distinctive taste that I really liked. I’ve never had anything like it before, and would definitely order it again. He also said their food will be similar to Indonesian street food. It sounds like a nice mix, but I didn’t try any. Try this new place out! It’s really cool!
