There were a few things that were awesome, and a few that weren’t. We ordered a pizza and some wings for delivery and the total came to $ 30. Considering the cost of pizza in Portland, this was pretty average. On the plus side, they quoted us an hour and fifteen minutes but showed up in just under an hour. The wings were adequately sauced, though completely soggy. I can’t really hold this against SFNY because anything hot that’s bundled in tinfoil will steam, especially while waiting to be delivered. That’s okay, the chicken itself was super tender and tasty. Now, the pizza. I feel like you’ve really got to have your stuff together if you have the gall to call yourself«Straight From New York»… My first thought was that it smelled kind of like Pizza Hut. You know, that sort of sweet smell? Anyway, the tangible things that were no good. It was definitely over sauced, the crust was sort of floppy, and the sauce itself was really sweet and overwhelmed the flavors of the crust and cheese. Before anyone starts freaking out saying I don’t know what New York pizza really tastes like, my husband grew up in there and we just got back from a trip to New York a month ago. I have to be «that guy» and say that sizzle pie just a bit down burnside has SFNY beaten by a considerable amount.

Okay pizza but lots of better options out there. People are really nice. Just not my style of pizza.

A few things: A friend and I ordered a margherita pizza for delivery while NOT sober. It was soooo good! What I loved about this particular margherita pizza was that it had cheese to completely cover the sauce, and on top of that, they did the circular slices of mozzarella. The tomatoes were still raw enough also, big plus. Our delivery girl even managed how to figure out my friend’s older elevator in her apartment building, kudos! My boyfriend had a few slices after us(he was sober), and also enjoyed this particular margherita pizza a lot. Thanks SFNY Pizza West(:

Great slices, friendly service. I go here a when I need a proper slice of pizza. I am originally from New York, so I might be a little discerning when it comes to a pizza review. I just like a properly cooked crust and sauce that doesn’t taste like ragu. Their Belmont location is just as good.

The closest thing to NY pizza you are going to find in this city. If you can wait or call ahead I recommend ordering a whole pie. Not only is it economical but as someone else mentioned this pizza holds up well reheated or cold. Yum!

Just moved to Portland and ordered pizza on our first night since we don’t have anything. And it was amazing and huge! So we reheated the leftovers for lunch the next day and it was still just as good!

Stopped here on a whim after seeing them on the Eat24 app and so happy that I did. The pizza and wings were great and pretty reasonably priced! Slices were fairly large with NY style thin crust. The staff was super friendly and I was in and out with my take out pretty quickly. I will definitely be back with a bigger group!

Customer service was poor. I called them directly and they said they couldn’t deliver to my address because I’m just outside there area — even tho I’ve ordered delivery from them on the Eat24 app and they’ve delivered. So I said I would order through the app and they said ok. So I placed my order thru the eat24 app and then I got a phone call from Eat24 saying this restaurant won’t deliver because they’re too busy. Overall I’m getting different answers and the restaurant needs to update the app with the correct area they will deliver to.

This place is really cool. It’s right by my apartment, so I always pass it. I was going out of town for a music festival a few weeks ago, and I had my toddler son stay at home with a babysitter. I went into this place to grab a take-out menu to leave with pizza money, so they could order something. They didn’t have any menus I could grab, but the guy was super nice & went online and printed one out for me. Well, my son and the babysitter liked it so much that I had to check it out too. The slices are huge! I got the vegan one, it was some of the best vegan pizza I’ve ever had. And once again, the people working were nice. I will definitely be coming back!

I really dig this place! I work nearby so I come sometimes for lunch. They have two slices and a soda for $ 7.50 and some other lunch combos. I think 1 slice and a beer is like $ 6 – 7? It’s a nice mellow spot around lunch time and I’ve been the only person in there before. That’s fine with me! If you sit by the window there’s some PRIME people watching up and down Burnside. A real melting pot of financial situations.

If you’re homesick for New York pizza, SFNY is a pretty accurate recreation of the corner shops that put out slices like they’re being printed on paper. Greasy, cheesey, and delicious without making a balls of it like so many other northwest pizzerias.(Seattle, I love you, but take notes. Copious notes.) SFNY is also one of the few places in northwest to stay up late, provide vegan options, and show some good taste in music from the metal that’s usually on rotation. Delivery unfortunately takes awhile and at least it’s a short jaunt from our place, but the only pies available for delivery are enormous sizes that take at least a few days to finish. SFNY isn’t life changing, but it is reliable and when you get the homesick hangries, it helps to have a good pizzeria a hop, skip, and a jump away.

Let’s get down to it. This place friekin rules. Hit it late night. There’s all sorts of mediocre pizza out there. Even Apizza Scholls and Oven and Shaker have their fancy pizza. Sometimes you just want a decent variety of slices that taste good, a notch above regular stuff. This is that place. Good pricing and variety. I don’t need fancy pizza with friekin octopus and asparagus chunks, just good pizza.

Great first time experience on Saturday August 29, 2015! Had a custom-made Gluten Free pizza and both my teenage son and I loved it! Very cool, chill people too. Can’t wait to take my fiancé back and try some of their wine and salads, dine-in.

I usually get pizza from the SFNY on Belmont, but apparently only the Burnside one has wings? So, I got pickup from this location a couple of days ago. In any case, I like the wings quite a bit, though I think the preparation is hit or miss. The first two times they were great, but the third time it seemed like most of the sauce had been absorbed/evaporated while cooking. Oh well, they were still pretty good. Additionally, the pizza much greasier than usual. I understand it’s pizza of course haha, which is why I’m still giving ‘em a 4 star because it’s darn good. I think overall the Belmont SFNY might have a bit better quality control, but both are tasty, and I’m sure I’ll return!

Delicious! Located in the Pearl on Burnside, the best seat in the house, in my opinion, is at the window. You can munch on pizza, sip on a cold brew, and people watch. On the day that we went, it was a very warm day and there was no AC blasting. That still didn’t stop us from enjoying a nice slice of pizza, he had the meat combo and I had the one with chicken and pesto. They had cooler names and tasty. Parking? Good luck at finding available curbside. Other than that, we try to stop here whenever we’re in the area.

great neighborhood pizza joint — by the slice is huge! Only downside is there is no parking available. There’s a 15 min loading zone outside so if you’re lucky you’ll get it. Prices are moderate, staff is super friendly. I have a feeling I’ll be back in the future.

Excellent ny style pizza! The real deal, not artisan style. Most consistent pie in Portland! Actual 18″ pie that never disappoints. Dough is baked to perfection and the sauce is zesty… best pizza in Portland hands down if you are looking for authentic ny style! Not over priced AND hyped like apizza scholls…

SFNY West is my family’s favorite Friday night pizza spot. No matter what flavor we are in the mood for it’s consistently delish. Their wings are awesome and they are always happy to accommodate our request for no sauce. This fun shoppe is laid back with good music and a pin ball machine. Whenever family and friends visit we are sure to stop in for a bite. Cheers!

If you are a faithful reader of my reviews(of course you are), you may have noticed I’m on a pizza slice kick(last fall into early 2015 I was on a chicken and rice kick). So far, this has been the best pizza I’ve encountered during the pizza kick. So good, even superior, that I fully expect that you will jump up and run immediately and get a slice. What’s that you say? I have to support my thesis statement … you just won’t jump and run there to get pizza immediately until this has been done? OK, fine, I’ll support my thesis and then you can jump and run to SFNY West Pizza. First of all, SFNY used to be the former home of Oasis Pizza which in and of itself made some pretty darn good pizza. It had a definite«gathering of the tribes» vibe and it felt like being at college during a certain era — déjà vu all over again. SFNY has kept some of that vibe, but spruced it up with new paint, etc. and I think decluttered and organized things a bit more. When I walked in the door I immediately saw that the whole space was lighter and brighter and very clean(including the restroom). They have a strong community bent, hanging posters about local happenings, and that’s something Oasis did too. They also deliver pizza. Within the past few days I had an unfortunate customer service experience at a restaurant just down the street, so I was really quite keen to see how SFNY would handle this. Not a problem. The two gentlemen manning the counter were perfectly friendly and hospitable and treated every other customer who came in exactly the same as they treated me. My pizza slice came out in good time and was heated all the way through. I had a question or two and those were answered promptly. I had a slice and soda for $ 5.50(very reasonable), and I could see posters up giving some outstanding slice-and-beer special prices available when the Blazers or Timbers play. My slice had black olives and sausage, an old favorite of mine, and these and the cheese were of excellent quality. The crust is thin. The sauce had great flavor(something I often find missing at other pizza shops) and that’s what made this pizza stand out. I could taste lots of herbs(oregano and basil in the main) and they put a good amount on the pizza as well. So, there you go, I supported my thesis. Now it’s your turn to get up off the couch and jump and run to SFNY for some superior pizza. Of course, you could order for delivery if you’re feeling like a couch potato. No matter what you do, ordering or going to the shop, you can’t do anything wrong by trying their pizza. Now, get going and enjoy!

So it happens I’ve been to SFNY pizza before, just the other location. I liked it then, I like it now. If it’s got New York in the title, they better know what they are doing, ya know what I’m sayin’? To be honest, I think I might have enjoyed this slice of pepperoni slightly better than what I had at their other location. I didn’t need to add anything to the slice. No salt, no red pepper flake, nothing. It was a good slice of zah with a crispy thin crust, not too oily and being that I was there during happy hour, the slice and a drink was only $ 4. SWEEEEEEET. I even got it with two minutes to spare to grab the number 20 bus back to my side of the river. All good. Being that I’m from the NY/NJ area, If I think it’s good enough to eat… it’s good enough to eat. That’s all you need to know. Enjoy.
