Sawasdee seems to be building a thai cart empire here in Portland, with carts at pretty much each of the major pods. I recently stopped by this one, at 19th and Quimby(over near the new New Seasons and Con-Way). I tried something new(unusual for me at thai, I usually stick to my favorite curries). I went for something they called Garlic Lovers. It was really, really good. Basically chicken and several types of vegetables, grilled with garlic in an oil of some sort. It was a bit oily, but it had really amazing flavor. I am definitely going to have it again. I have also had various yellow and massuman curries from this cart, which are reasonly high quality.

Super convenient, just around the corner from the office. Great menu, fast and affordable thai food.

Friendly, efficient, tasty — I’m a fan! I got my signature order, pad se ew, and found it comparable to my other favorite thai places. I especially like the large carrots. The portions here are definitely smaller than some other spots in town, but I consider that a good thing since I generally feel compelled to eat every single noodle in front of me. I sometimes add extra spice to add flavor to simple noodle dishes, but this one didn’t need it. Even the mild was delicious to the last bite. Also I love this small NW food cart pod. I can’t believe it took me so long to realize it was there! Unlike the downtown carts, there are multiple picnic tables outside. I’m sure I’ll be spending a good amount of time here this summer.

I love the peanut sauce at this place and their thai iced teas I could drink every day! Their salad wraps are good but standard but what makes them great is the peanut sauce you get with them! I also love their pineapple fried rice(without cashews for me) with shrimp and I’ll add chicken when I’m really hungry. Usually the meal plus wraps is enough for leftovers though. My only complaint is I wish there was a little more flavor/spices in the fried rice, when I tried doing medium on the level of spiciness, my mouth was on fire! So I have to stick to mild spiciness…

I’m so glad this cart is pretty close to my work. $ 7 will get you a nice lunch sized container of delicious Thai food. I got their pineapple fried rice, which did not disappoint. It had tons of tofu, pineapple, and crunchy vegetables. Pretty tasty alternative to the usual meh lunches that I have. Also, try their spring rolls as well! $ 3 something will get you six spring rolls, and you can tell they were the freshly made kind! Tasty stuffs!

Pad thai lacked substance and fixings. Meh.

I love cheap food. Six bucks for a nicely sized plate of delicious Thai food is a gift from the Good Lord(and the people who make it/decide on the prices). I need to go back and try more food, but I can say the cashew nut chicken kicks ass. Cash only, and they have been«Temporarily Closed» for a few weeks(Mid-May through Sometime in June).

Sister cart to Sawasdee Thai foodcart on SW9th Ave &SW Alder St. and just as delicious! This cart is located behind Quimby’s(now called something else I believe) in a cart pod. It is painted fire truck red so you can’t miss it. They are usually out of salad rolls by the time I drag myself down there, so I suggest getting there early if you want those. The egg rolls are a good substitute, for me at least, and you get 5 of them. I always get the Pad Kee Mao with either chicken or tofu so I can’t speak for the entire menu but I love this cart. Cash only and they seem to stay open later than the other food carts. You can also take your food into the restraunt and get a beer or whatever with your food or there are picinic tables. I would defiantly recommend this spot!
