Rite Aid

This review isn’t really about this NE Portland Rite-​Aid — but…
About a week ago I went into a Rite Aid in the Seattle area and got some store-​brand ‘Prilosec’ (omeprazole). The price was regularly $ 17.99, but was on sale for about $ 16.25.
Rather expensive, I thought (for the number of tablets), but I was on the road for business, and left mine at home, and needed some.
1. When they rang it up, my phone rang, and I got distracted — paid with plastic. It wasn’t until later that I noticed they charged me the full $ 17.99. (I am certain the $ 16.25 sign was still in effect — and was for the item I chose).
Oh well — they beat me out of a buck or two — not happy, but whatever.
2. I took one a day for about 2 days. First one did absolutely nothing. Second one was too strong (believe me, I can tell).
Bad quality control /​manufacturing process, I thought. Now, between this situation — and their overcharging me – I AM going to return them (says they will gladly refund me).
3. Now I’m back home in Portland — go to return them, but, darn it, I can’t find the receipt. I figure, no big deal — I used my Rite-​Aid rewards number (my [phone number) when I bought (overpaid for) them — so they can easily look it up (like Fred Meyer and other stores do).
4. But… they tell me they can’t look up my purchase by that rewards number (how convenient) — and they can only refund me the lowest price they’ve sold it for in the past 30 days — which, she looks up – is $ 8.99.
On principle — I kept them — I’m not into that kind of money-​changing — great rate of return — 100% in 5 days — uh… what’s that work out to per year — I’ll tell you — you’ve probably heard I’m pretty good at math — IT’S 7300% PER YEAR RATE OF RETURN. MAN — I’D LIKE TO GET IN FRONT OF SOME OF THAT KIND OF MOO-​LAH.
Uh…Rite Aid — you’ve now screwed Alfred Einstein FOUR times:
1. Charging very high sticker price
2. Posting that it was on sale for a buck or two off — then still charging me the full price
3. And now saying you’ll only reimburse me exactly ½ of that.
4. And I’ve got your store brand — bad medicine — too weak — or too strong — who knows what the next tablet will be?
And this is all the ‘easy’ stuff. If a giant chain with all that super talent behind the scenes can’t get the easy stuff right — 1. — 2.- 3. — 4. opportunities… (this IS 2015!!) — makes you wonder what kind of decisions/​processes and procedures are going on with the hard things. WOW!
You don’t have to be Einstein to figure out — BYE-​BYE Rite Aid. You have made a very easy decision for me. I don’t need you — ever again. You beat Einstein out of a few bucks. Good work!
And anyone else out there who would like to support my cause — jump on the Bye Bye Rite Aid band-​wagon too.
Bad pricing — bad rewards computer system — bad medicine, bad retailing — indeed!

The store is fine, but the pharmacy department has a lot of room for improvement. I get monthly refills on the prescriptions and they have only had my order complete one time. The rest and vast majority of other times, the scripts aren’t ready. The staff are hostile when you complain and ask for ways to resolve this. After yet another rotten experience today (pharmacy staff engaged in personal conversations while ignoring the folks in line followed by them messing up my order), I’m finding another pharmacy.

As a store this place is ok, as a pharmacy this location is to be avoided!!!
The staff of the pharmacy could care less about your health, your prescriptions or your time.
I have had so many bad experiences with this pharmacy it would be tedious to recount them all. All that need be said is that you can consistently count on the fact that no matter what you do to give the staff at this pharmacy time to fill your prescriptions, they will fail in servicing you. If you have a trip or any other pressing need for competent handling of your prescriptions, you would be well advised to not depend on this pharmacy.
If you talk to a manger you will be glad-​handed and given a phone number without even a voicemail — this occurred with two «managers» at this location.
Do yourself and the public at large a favor and do not support the pharmacy at this store with any of your business.

I’ve been going to this pharmacy for about ten years and the service gets better and better. I want to make mention of one of your employees, Chandra, who truly went over and beyond for me last night. I ran to the pharmacy to get medication for my sick child, some toiletries and a few other items just before Rite Aid closed at 10 pm. I was using a shopping cart so I didn’t realize how heavy my purchases would be to carry by hand. Chandra graciousl insisted on helping me out from the store. took the filled shopping cart after I checked out and wheeled it out to my car parked a block away so that I didn’t have to carry my unwieldy purchases by hand. Talk about outstanding service! Thank you, Chandra!

Friendly check-​out and pharmacy staff. There’s rarely NOT a line in check-​out, and generally takes a long time as they like to chat with customers
Rite-​Aid is so much better than Walgreens.

Pharmacy: They have no drive thru which I don’t care about but you’d think this alone would make their pharmacy more efficient. Oh, hells no! This is the slowest pharmacy in the world. I called in a prescription at noon and said I needed it to be ready by 4:30. I arrive at nearly 6pm and it’s STILL not ready. Seriously, what is the point of even giving me an option? And this was after waiting in line for over 15 minutes. Went back the next week, line is still incredibly long with just the one register open and only one clerk helping people. You could catch a slow boat to China and get your prescription filled there and be back before you’d make it to the front of the line there. Ain’t nobody got time for that! I’m transferring all my scripts to Paulsen’s across the street off Sandy.
Additionally, I went in there once and asked a clerk who was filling an aisle endcap with product where safety pins were. She gave me an aisle, I went there, no safety pins. Walk all the way back up to the front and she says, «oh, then it must be the next aisle over.» Walk all the way back there and find them. At no point could this woman be bothered to stop stocking for 2 minutes to walk me back there to ensure it was the correct aisle and point out where it was. Horrendous customer service.

This pharmacy sometimes has items that other pharmacies don’t carry. That is the only reason I would get a prescription there. Their service is pretty bad.

I wish I could erase my previous good review. The positive is that the store has been remodeled. But I have two major gripes. First, their shelf pricing is often wrong. I’ve talked to management many times and they always say the same thing that a clerk made an error. There are many errors every week and isn’t it the job of management that those errors don’t occur. The second gripe turned dangerous today. I’ve complained about the constant turnover of pharmacy staff in a downward direction. Prescriptions don’t get processed, disorganization, etc. When I picked my wife’s prescription, I looked at bottle and questioned the dosage accuracy when the pharmacist did his consultation. When I got home, my wife called her physician. She was supposed to get a pill a day for 3 days. The physician said it was one pill every 3 days. I called the physician and he basically said «oops.» When I looked again, the paperwork in another place said 1 pill per day. I don’t trust Rite-​Aid and will go elsewhere.

The completed a remodel in the last year made the space is brighter, cleaner and more organized.
Rooftop parking for those of you burning fossil fuels. Bicyclists park out front!
I find that when I go for one thing I end up wandering the aisles and finding something else.

I frequent this store often as it’s a block away from my work. The store is always very clean and organized (which I feel isn’t always the case with other stores I’ve been to). They have a great cosmetic section and they also have a GNC section which is a nice one stop shop for my vitamins, and whey protein. They have a little bit of everything, so it’s nice to be able to pick up a few things in one place that’s so convenient. Also check out their weekly ad. A lot of times they have their own coupons that they allow you to combine with manufacturer’s coupons for super savings!
Oh and they have parking on the roof. Entrance is on Hancock.

I seldom find anything wrong with this store. Their clerks are always friendly, and helpful.
Parking can be found across the street or the rooftop where you can view part of the Hollywood area. You need to go down the stairs, and hang on to someone’s hand, because the non-​slip black strips on the edge of the steps can be distracting! They do have elevators going UP.
I’m gad that I live in the neighborhood!

This is a large and convenient Rite Aid location with rooftop parking. Employees are helpful if you can’t find something.

im so in love with rite aid, they have everything from $ 7 slip on shoes to as seen on TV ab busters. just go there. its that good.

This Rite Aid is really large, it’s easy to get lost in here. But they will almost definitely have what you want. I can imagine it’s a convenient one-​stop for locals as they have a sizeable grocery/​booze section.
The employees are extremely nice and helpful. Only beef is that parking can be a bother but it’s conveniently located to get here easily without a car.
