No wonder they went out of business. Every time we went in, they were out of the kid of pizza we wanted or out of the wine we wanted. Hated the family style seating. If I wanted to sit by some smelly hipster, I’d sure not choose to do it at a restaurant. Service was slow. We went in recently and waited 25 minutes. No one even acknowledged us. Good riddance.

Best wood fire pizza in town! Insider tip: If you want pizza but also want Imperial… Walk into Pizza Maria and order from them and ask them to bring it to you at Imperial(it’s in the same building.) They’re happy do do that and they’ll bring your plates and silverware and whatnot!

We came in to kill 30 mins; telling the hostess that we only wanted drinks/appys. The servers were fantastic; great attitudes and service. Food was reasonable and tasty. We had 2 appys, a pint of beer, and 2 soda’s for the kids; $ 18. This was during happy hour, which they served us In the dining section(vs the bar). Overall great experience. We will be back.

I had the lunch special here which included a salad and one pizza of choice, I got the Margherita which was perfect. I love Italian style super thin, super fresh pizza that highlights the sauce and topping but is still delivered on a very tasty crust, that’s exactly what I got here. Service was very good and it wasn’t too crowded which surprised me as it’s some of the best I’ve had since moving here.

I guess I must stop telling people we have everything but good Pizza in PDX. Pizza Maria proves my old belief false. The menu is simple: Pizza and salad. Dessert if you have room. Lots of beer and wine and Italian coffee. A bar with enough liquor to make favorite drinks. Maybe a special here and there. I think this limited menu allows Pizza Maria to focus on producing pizza deliziosa. The roasted carrot salad is fantastic, The greens are fresh and the dressing light and very flavorful. I’m a fan of the tomato sauce, which tastes like tomatoes and reminds me of pizza from Italy. The thin crust is flavorful and perfectly charred and crispy. There’s a daily special pizza and I hope the fungh mushroom pizza is available next time I’m there because when I saw it go past I had mushroom envy. If eating more were possible, I’d have gotten a second pizza. Service is excellent and this is one of the cleanest restaurants I’ve ever seen. Highly recommended.

The carrot salad was fantastic. I would definitely get that again. The ricotta crostini was good. I could see why people seem to love it… but ricotta just ain’t my thing. The pizzas were good, above average, but not awesome. Had the margherita and the sausage(with mushrooms instead of sausage.) Service was good. I saw a lot of young children there. Not sure if that’s more reflection of the surrounding neighborhood or the restaurant, but nonetheless a good thing for me as I have 3 young children. It was good enough to go back.

Artisan woodfired pizza places are popping up left and right, but this one for sure competes with the likes of the original Ken’s and Nostrana. First, the décor is beautiful with marble topped tables. Second, the waitstaff is amazingly friendly and educational. Shout out to Ashley, the dear girl after we heckled amongst the three of us on two pizzas, me demanding the salami, shaved radicchio, red sauce base and my girlfriends struggling between the mushroom and Brussel sprout white based, Ashley delivered all three w one on the house. Corkage fee is $ 15. My friends devoured the beet salad. The char on the pizza was perfect as was the sauce with the perfect amount of saltiness. Service here is sublime!

Came in for a nice dinner after reading the Oregonian review. We were immediately seated at a beautiful, marble table and brought the elegant menu. We started with 3 pieces of the Crostini– crunchy, crunchy bread with creamy, creamy ricotta topped with a drizzle of olive oil and lemon zest. So delicately delicious, but we agreed not to order this again, rather, we’ll be ordering 4 pieces! Two lies were ordered: seasonal veggie and Margherita. We must’ve hit the jackpot because there’s no way we could’ve gotten a better seasonal selection of toppings. Three kinds of mushrooms(the names escape me, but one was porcini) and Oregon black truffle, finished with razor-thin shards of green onion. Extremely rich and delicious. The pizza Margherita was also great. Perfectly simplistic with the classic two toppings, anchored by an beautiful and bright marinara sauce. Also great. This is place is so easy to give a 5⁄5 it’s not even a question! Go to this place!
