The Reggie and the Reggie Deluxe were tasty. Gravy was served the way gravy should taste. There was a wait to order but worth the wait!

The biscuits are really good, almost as good as the biscuits back home in Alabama. Wasn’t a big fan of the corn dog. They use Andouille sausage really heavy on the Cajun spice. Prices are fair. The wait can get pretty crazy though. I waited one Saturday around noon for about 45 minutes in line just for a to-go order.

Gravy can do no wrong. Biscuits can also do no wrong. Pine State Biscuits can also do no wrong, apart from the occasional deliciousness induced heart attack. I ordered a basic biscuits with eggs and cheese, and my boyfriend decided on the fried chicken variety. They were both amazing, and the gravy really makes the difference so if you decide to make your own to order it on the side! Another stand out is the apple butter so if you’re not a heavy biscuit to filling eater make it open faced and eat the other half with apple butter ;)

Waiting in line at Pine is actually a positive experience. You get plenty of time to review the menu that can be seen from the window and make the tough decision of what to order! This will be a difficult decision. I had a cinnamon roll, shrimp and grits, and biscuits and gravy. Southern biscuit love.

I’m not a big fan of waiting for half an hour outside for the chance to order a biscuit, but at least their new location has a hallway for the line to stretch into. So one star down for the inconvenience factor. But aside from that they do indeed have the best sausage gravy ever created. I haven’t tried anything else on the menu because the sausage gravy is so good that I don’t have the courage to go in a different direction. I suggest you go for an early breakfast any day, or an early lunch on a weekday and avoid the crowds.

Giving it 4 stars because the food took a long tome to come out and people that came in after us got their food significantly faster. You also have to bus your own table. We got the reggie deluxe — one with the sausage gravy and one with the mushroom gravy. Both were delicious! I also got the bloody mary and a mimosa. They really know how to fry their chicken — very high quality southern comfort food.

I love pine state biscuits. Perfect place for brunch and if you are not in a hurry because there’s usually a big line to get in. The Reggie Deluxe is my favorite.

Was told by my friends that this is a must-go in Portland! I even saw it in a magazine on the airplane so I was feeling like this was a sign! We came to this particular location because it was the closest and most convenient. I ordered the regular biscuit and a corn dog. I know a corn dog at a biscuit place?! But the description was soo good. It was a hot-link corn dog in fact. Sadly, I wasn’t that impressed. The breading was kind of burnt a little too cooked for me and the hotink inside didn’t have that much flavor. The biscuits on the other hand were amazing. I made my own because the biscuits on the menu seemed a little too heavy for me. I made one with bacon, egg and the mushroom gravy on the side. The mushroom gravy was bomb! Other than the food, the place was a little small you kind of had to stalk people for tables. However, it wasn’t too busy so I didn’t mind. All in all, great experiences. Definitely try it for your self when you come to Portland!

This was truly as good as it gets! I had the fried chicken biscuit with apple butter, cheddar cheese and bacon. Did God himself whisper in the ear of the chef and say-this is the perfect flavor combination – USEIT!?! I’d like to think he did. This place is awesome… crowded…but awesome!

Everything about this screams Portland to me. Wait in line for an hour to sit down and eat a biscuit. How are they doing this? This is insanity. The food is really good though. We ate here for Sunday brunch which turned into lunch because of the wait. That being said, the biscuit samich was worth the wait. Great chicken, good biscuit, nice jelly? Yes, I put jelly on it, and it was my sweet and savory jam. My vegan wife was fairly limited here, but munched on a plate sized plate of hash browns. It was worth the wait. I went here expecting to wait for fresh made breakfast foods, but because of an hour plus wait you get 4 stars. PORTLAND!(Screaming Portland)

2 words: Bloody Mary. 6 bucks. Gotta get it. It had a nice salted rim and a skewer decked with okra, pickled onion, celery and a lemon slice. Seriously, so good. I got the Regina and instead of the hot sauce, I got the mushroom gravy. They forgot to put the gravy on, so it came on the side in a little ramekin. Definitely wasn’t enough but then again, it probably could have come in a bowl and I would still be complaining that it wasn’t enough. It was pretty good, especially for being vegetarian. There are not really any vegan options unless you get a side of fries or something. There were few vegetarian options, The Regina being one of them. There was definitely people lined up on the weekend so be prepared to wait a lil bit. There is only 1 guy at the register.(You order first then seat yourself).

No longer a PDX resident… But every time I’m visiting I must eat ~ 15% of my meals @ Pine State Biscuits whilst in town. A taste of the food here is a life-changing event… Sorta like your first kiss or the birth of your child. Can I please give this 6 Stars?

As a first timer in Portland… my brother suggested to try Pine State Biscuits. My friend and I went here for breakfast before heading out to Multnomah Falls. I ordered the Reggie Deluxe, which consists of biscuits, gravy, fried chicken and an egg on top. My friend ordered biscuits and gravy with an egg on top. Both were very good! I couldn’t finish my biscuits though, it was too much for me. I loved how runny the egg was! I’m not sure what kind of gravy is used for the Reggie Deluxe, but my friend had shiitake gravy over her biscuits and gravy. It was soooooo good. These dishes were definitely very comforting. COMEHERE! For a comforting, filling and delicious breakfast!

My roommate has been wanting to go here for sometime and we finally made our way over. I ordered a biscuit with butter/honey and a side of hash browns and my rookie ordered the mcisley: fried chicken with pickles, mustard, and honey. It took about 15 minutes to get our food. For a place with biscuits in its name I was expecting a super amazing warm fluffy biscuit. Instead it was just okay. It was cold and kind of tough. I know tough is an odd word to describe the texture but I’ll explain. When making biscuits you roll out the dough and use a cutter. Then you pull away the scraps, mush them into a ball, re roll them out and keep repeating the process until you get the most biscuits out of the dough. In this process the gluten gets over developed and in that makes the dough tough. I’m not saying this is what they do I’m just saying this is what the texture of the biscuit resembled. The hash browns were pretty good, a little greasy but that’s how I like them. My roomie said his sandwich was just okay and that he wanted to like it more than he actually did. This place has multiple locations all with great reviews so maybe we just got a fluke batch of biscuits. With that said I am not writing this place off yet, I will be back to give them another chance.

Danny’s Unilocal 2016. Pine State was something I wanted to try and cross out my list while I was visiting PDX earlier last week. I honestly think this spot was OK for me. Food: + Hash Up with Flank Steak + Biscuits with Gravy. The 2 items I listed is usually what everyone that goes here gets and that’s what my friends and I got too. It didn’t really impress me at all. I mean, I thought the Hash up with Flank Steak was good but it could’ve been better. I don’t what was missing but something was missing. maybe an egg? The biscuits with gravy was just like any other spots I’ve tried in San Jose. It wasn’t anything special about it. Personal Note: + Make sure you clean up after yourselves and put those dishes away. DON’T BERUDE! Conclusion: I am going to give this spot another try the next time I’m in PDX. Maybe this time I’ll add an egg into my hash up and make sure the hash brown is extra crispy.

Had the Hash Up with Steak on a really full stomach and it was STILL delicious. Ugh. Hash browns were so nice and crispy just the way I like it. The steak and cheese were the perfect toppings on top. It was literally the perfect hash browns anyone can dream of. I didn’t have the chance to come back to try other food, but I definitely will the next time I’m back in Portland!

Pine State Biscuits, my tastebuds love you. Flaky, buttery biscuits. What more could you ask for? Oh I know. Delicious gravy and fried chigggin! This place is a staple in Portland. Every tourist knows to come here because it’s amazing. MUSTGET: 1) Reggie Deluxe — Fried chicken, bacon, egg, cheese, and gravy allllll over. Is your mouth watering yet? I think the gravy is what makes this SO good. Without the gravy, I would give this sandwich probably 3 stars. It balances out this breakfast sandwich for sure. 2) HASHUPS with flank steak and an over easy egg on top — This is my ultimate favorite dish at Pine State. I LOVE hash browns. I love them even more when they’re CRISPY! However, I’ve deducted a star from my review because every time I come to this location, it never comes out crispy!!! Make sure you ask them to make it extra crispy! It makes a difference, trust me! 3) Biscuits with one of the berry jams. You can’t go wrong with biscuits. :) PS. Make sure you clean up after yourselves and put those dishes away!

This was a suggested place from a friend back east for breakfast. I am definitely glad we stopped by here, it was a nice treat. The lines are long so be prepared to wait, it goes pretty quick and the turnover on tables isn’t bad so you will get a seat. I wanted the Cinnamon Roll Biscuit but it was sold out right before the person in front of us. So if you are looking forward to that, you have to get there early because it sells out. We opted for the fruit and whip biscuit instead, I really wanted the Poptart Biscuit but I thought it may be too sweet. 1) The Chadwich– Awesome, apple butter was amazing and the chicken fried perfectly. 2) The Regina– vegetarian option, I ordered with sauce on the side because I’m not a huge Texas Pete fan. It had too many collard greens for me and a mess so don’t try eating this in the car or on the go. 3) Side of hash– huge portion! Cooked the way we liked it and a great side to the biscuits. 4) Fruit & Whip– delicious. Not overly sweet but perfect for the last touch. The biscuits are cooked to perfection, buttery and soft. I wish I had gotten something different but it is what it is. I would stop by here again if the line wasn’t long but there are other places I would try before looping back around.

I love Pine State Biscuits so much I had to get it again before I left Portland. No wait on a weekday morning. I got the biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs(The Moneyball Double Down) for $ 8. The sausage gravy is one of the best things I’ve ever had. The flavor and seasoning is perfect and mixed so well with the soft biscuits. My boyfriend ordered the hash ups with steak($ 7) which was huge! The potatoes were a little bland but tasted better with the ketchup. Overall please come here and try their AMAZING sausage gravy!

I can’t even remember how we found out about this place, but it doesn’t even matter. All that matters is that we came here and we ate the most delicious biscuit masterpieces. The restaurant is tiny and parking was a little tricky on a weekday, but once again that doesn’t even matter. The line gave us time to review the menu and make the hard choices about what to eat. It was really tough because Portland is such a foodie town and we knew there was more good food to come that day. I enjoyed the BBQ Biscuit. First, the biscuit. This place is aptly named because the biscuit is so flaky and buttery. It truly could be eaten alone. My biscuit was loaded with tender pork shreds and a tangy slaw. I devoured every bite of this delicious meal. My husband went more classic on his biscuit choice with The Moneyball. This is sausage gravy with an over easy egg on top. It .good. The gravy was amazing and the liquid gold from the egg mixed perfectly with the buttery biscuit. Writing this review is making me hungry for more of these delicious biscuits. I’m off to plan my next Portland trip…

I was really debating on going up to a 4 but in the end, I’m not sure the food lived up to that so 3 it is. What I do like about Pine State Biscuits is that they allow you the option of building and customizing your own biscuit sandwich. I’m not the biggest fan of having my food smothered in gravy or having my sandwich stuffed with so many items that it’s impossible to eat, so building my own simple sandwich was the best choice. I ended up getting a biscuit sandwich with buttermilk fried chicken and a side of apple butter. When my food came out, I took a bite pretty promptly and found that the biscuit and fried chicken were lukewarm as if both had been chilling on the side for at least 20 – 30 minutes… not cool. The chicken had even already lost some of its crispiness on the outside. I also thought the biscuits were too thin and fell apart too easily which made it difficult to eat as a sandwich. That being said, the flavor of the biscuits and the chicken were both still there. Now, the apple butter was fantastic! However, the consistency is less like a typical butter and more along the lines of a slightly thicker applesauce — it even has a cinnamon applesauce flavor to it. It’s really delicious to spread the butter on the biscuits and the chicken before each bite. I’m not usually a sauce person so I rarely finish sauces given to me, but the apple butter… man, did I finish it all with my sandwich! So tasty! I only wished that my sandwich was not so lukewarm. I have a feeling that if the biscuits and the fried chicken came out piping hot, this would be a 4 – 5 star review.

Oh Pine State Biscuits, how I love you so… I don’t even know where to begin. Bear with me! Though I’ve had a few Reggies and Reggie Deluxes their Farmers Market stand, I usually stick to a more deconstructed plate from Pine State. My typical order is biscuits and sausage gravy, with a side of fried chicken. The biscuits and gravy remind me of my grandmother’s, which is no small achievement. I’ll just leave that there and hope she doesn’t take offense, rest her soul. The fried chicken is lightly seasoned such that you end up with a savory, pinch-of-spicy flavor woven into incredibly crispy and flaky crust. The juiciness is particularly impressive considering they use boneless chicken. Depending on the day, I might go with either a Bloody Mary(topped with celery, okra, cocktail onion and a lemon), or their take on my favorite-ever Arizona flavor, the Arnold Palmer. Both are awesome, and you cannot go wrong. Of course if you’re nursing a bit of a hangover, go with the Bloody Mary. Everyone working here is incredibly patient considering how much is going on. They’re all ears if you have any questions about what you’re ordering(even though you shouldn’t, pro tip: look through the window while you wait!), and never seem flustered no matter how far out the door the line is. Oh, one last thing… Don’t go here on a weekend during brunch, expecting to eat within the hour. The line is real. I try to make it out during weekdays, or on either side of peak-brunch hours.

Did you know that grown ups get pop tarts? Seriously… it’s a thing. But not the cardboard kind from a foil wrapper… Pine State, you had me at pop tart. Then I had a chicken biscuit. No, I don’t remember the name, it has nothing to do with fried chicken or biscuits. I walk up to the counter, I tell the girl I want the fried chicken biscuit with pickles and honey and mustard. She says the name, I say sure. Doesn’t matter what it’s called, all that matters is the biscuit goes in my face hole. The outdoor patio is great, even in the rain it’s tolerable. There is adequate seating inside for a weekday lunch. Service is friendly enough. Place was clean. Maybe one day I’ll order something new. For now, I’ll settle for being in love with fried chicken and a pop tart.

Yuuuuuuum. If telling you I’ve taken three separate groups of guests and friends here for their first time isn’t enough. Please go. This is classic Portland. The biscuits(in any form available, even plain!) are great. The cinnamon roll is spectacular. The coffee is good. The mimosa was tasty and, pairing wise, totally didn’t go with what I ordered to eat, but everything was so enjoyable it certainly did not matter. My meat eating friends can vouch that all of their meals were delicious as well. They have a nice little covered area with wooden picnic tables for days that aren’t too chilly, but also have seating indoors for drizzly cold evenings like tonight. I’ve always had pleasant interactions with the staff and the service has always been timely. Zero complaints, keep it up Pine State.

I’ve been a Pine State Biscuit regular since the days when they only had one location on Alberta. I believe they opened this place in SE early spring 2014 which is a 5 minutes ride from where I work. Resisting temptation to sin my diet only got harder since. Needless to say, Pine State Biscuit serves super-heavy delicious food that’s just soul healing. It’s definitely not for the faint heart — or body healing. My favorites are: The Reggie Deluxe that combines fried chicken, bacon and cheese with sausage or mushroom gravy and a fried egg. All the good stuff! The Chatfield is the sweeter version that comes with apple butter if you need to cut on the gravy. Sometimes when I need a healthier option(if that’s even possible here), I go with the Steak Club which brings a little fiber in form of butter lettuce. As for sides, the fried green tomatoes add a refreshing touch to the heavy biscuits, unless you want the real deal: Covered smothered fries in mushroom gravy. Again watch your cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. There’s a nice covered patio outside that also has radiant heaters attached to the roof for Portland’s rainy and colder seasons. Those are the seasons when your soul needs this kind of healing! Tip: When you’re on Division and looking for a parking spot and hear the slow choo choo train, don’t go south. You don’t want to wait in the car when your tummy rumbles. If you’re on the other side of the train tracks, continue east on Powell, make a left turn north on 21st and head back west on Division to save some time.

Do not be fooled by the half empty seating area. Although there were over 30 unoccupied seats, we waited in line for 80 minutes to order. There was only a single cash register. The guy rolling biscuits looked really busy, but some of the other people in the kitchen were just chilling. Operations seemed really inefficient. The guy at the cashier warned us that the hash ups would take 20 – 25 minutes, but everything else ended up taking that long too. I was okay with the wait time itself, but the food was not very hot when brought to the table, suggesting an issue with timing. The meal was disappointing. I had the Moneyball, a biscuit with shiitake mushroom gravy and 2 over easy eggs($ 8). A couple of my friends ordered the chicken club with either ranch or blue cheese dressing($ 8), and the chicken was not very crispy. The hashups($ 7), which we ordered with steak, were bland and also not crispy. My friend’s corn dog($ 4) was soggy. My Bloody Mary($ 6) was watery.
