I love the tofu here. There tofu was made fresh daily. The staffs were super nice. Whenever we have a demand for vegetarian, we come here to buy fresh tofu.

Run by the powerhouse mother of invention, Eileen, Ota Tofu is non-​gmo, family-​owned, and fresh. The age, tofu fried in oil, is fresh, clean and delicious. A great alternative to say, chicken tenders, for kids or adults. You eat and can cook with it or dip in sauces. Age is a great way for people who, say, hate tofu, to learn to love it.
Ota is a great Portland business and the only bummer is that you have to go there to get the age.

Best tofu in town… The adage’ so «melt in your mouth» fresh, it hardly makes it out of the car… so yummy!

This is a good tofu shop and the tofu is excellent. Don’t expect salad rolls or any other deli food because all they do is tofu production. In fact, you can see the tofu being produced while you wait.

Ever since I first tried Ota Tofu from Whole Foods, I fell in love with it. I eat a lot of tofu almost on a daily basis and this is one of the best one I’ve had before. It’s super fresh with a strong soy bean flavor, and made with non-​GMO soybeans. I don’t usually come to the shop downtown though since I can buy it in the supermarket but they’re not as fresh and I can’t always find the soft tofu in super markets.

TOFU WARS REVIEW:
So. After visiting Bui and Thanh Son, I guess I was expecting something a little similar to the places out by 82nd (ie, a tofu manufacturer plus deli). And. This isn’t one of those. It’s just a tofu store. But it’s the preeminent tofu store where they make it right there fresh and gmo-​free and super delicious with the most adorable packaging ever (haha yay happy soybeans make me happy too!).
At first my friend and I were unsure if you could go in and if it was even open — but it was. Then you could purchase but a few items — soy milk, fried tofu, and firm or soft tofu.
IN MY OBNOXIOUS BACK TO BACK TASTE TEST OF ALL THE FRESH ORGANIC TOFU from the top local contenders, Bui, Ota and Thanh Son, Ota won for me hands down due to its fantastic silken texture and clean taste. If you’re looking for the best place to go for tofu, here it is! But don’t go expecting any deli frills.

OTA’s tofu is top of line, fresh tofu and soy milk. The quality of this place is incredible and I highly recommend it. Keep in mind, they have only soy products and they don’t contain preservatives and unnecessary additives, so use the tofu quickly or it will go bad waiting for you in the refrigerator. Great for vegetarian/​vegan dinner parties.

In Japan there were neighborhood tofu and miso makers, not sure now. But Portland has one. Remember to bring your own container for a discount. The silken tofu, the softest, is only available in prepack, it’s delicate and the first out in the morning. You can see the small factory where the tofu is made!

Love Ota Tofu! I had a hard time finding their shop originally since they are kind of a hole in the wall joint (Think Fujiwara Tofu from Initial D), but their tofu is soo good! Fresh, firm, and yummy, just like back home. It’s good enough to eat plain or with a little shoyu, but awesome in mapo tofu!

I am a tofu lover, I can not live w/​o tofu, so after my Asian friend who is familiar with food business said there is tofu shop in Portland, I am not hesitated to visit them. First of all, for the first time visiting the young guy (assumed maybe the owner’s son?) stepped out of tofu making room and asked what I want, I said I dont know how to order and stuffs. he kinda gave a me a grumpy look and spoke very fast what they have… okay okay cutie face I want to buy your soy milk and tofu more often if you have a better service, understood? so 4 stars for your fresh tofu, okay? not for the Service!!!

I didn’t realize we actually had a tofu shop here in Portland! Used to get fresh tofu once in a while back when I lived in San Jose. Good stuff. Between the soft and regular varieties, I thought the regular had a more «sweet» taste to it, and is just perfect with a little shoyu, katsuobushi, ginger and green onions.

Not too many places that you can walk into these days that specialize in producing tofu. To me, the best is made in San Jose, CA. I’ll tell you I was pretty shocked to see that Portland actually had their own tofu company as well. Located right off a weird intersection is Ota Tofu. It’s in an unassuming building with a few stalls. Once you get inside, you can smell the tofu. I love that smell! If you are into tofu one bit, you should go out of your way to try Ota Tofu. It’s inexpensive and good. This coming from a Japanese American who was raised on great tofu, you should at least give it a try.
