Everything was great except that the meat had tons of fat and gristle in it. Impossible to chew and pretty disgusting. Bummed!

the gyros here are good. i’ve tried several ones and none have disappointed. get the lamb — it’s really really good food is cooked to order and takes some time to come out. — things can take a while at times, forgot fries in my super gyro etc

II don’t like lamb. Normally. My husband ordered lamb from here, but he didn’t want a gyro, so the lady and her husband who own the cart came up with a snack plate for him that did have what he wanted. Great customer service! The lamb is cooked from fresh, not frozen, and maybe that is the difference. My husband talked me into trying a bite and I did, prepared to find it gamey and to dislike it. Instead, it tasted almost like steak. Tender, good flavor. The tzaticki(sp?) was thick with a strong garlic flavor. Much better than the watery, bland stuff elsewhere. Would definitely go back!

Where to start, where to start… Fresh ingredients? CHECK. Meats grilled to juicy perfection? CHECK. Crisp vegetables? CHECK. Flavors combined into succulent and savory goodness? CHECK. The fact that the meats are grilled upon order and not pre-cooked under a heat lamp makes the biggest difference. Everything here is just fresh tasting and healthy, without loosing its hearty indulgence. For desert, that little bowl of Greek yogurt, honey and candied nuts is simply addicting. When I eat Greek, I eat here. You should, too.

I’m not having much luck with Greek places. I tried another one earlier this week and was disappointed. I hoped this place would turn out better. No such luck. I ordered a Chicken Caesar Gyro which had grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, parmesan cheese and Caesar dressing. I got it to go and, after a 10+ minute wait, took the short walk back to my office. Giddy with anticipation, I opened the box and un-wrapped the gyro. Ouch…crushing disappointment again. The gyro was soggy from way too much dressing. The chicken was tender and had grill marks but not much flavor. It tasted reheated like it was cooked this morning then thrown on the grill for a minute or two. With a 10+ minute wait, I thought it would have been grilled fresh. The lettuce was OK, Iceberg not Romaine. The tomatoes were slightly mushy. If the gyro had parmesan cheese on it, I couldn’t see it much less taste it. The girl behind the counter was nice and friendly and kept me posted on the progress of my lunch during the wait. The cook looked disinterested. He was obviously more focused on the girl behind the counter than on cooking my meal. Neither one of the owners were present. Well not the two guys in the picture in the window, at least. I loved the sign in the window. «Don’t be a malaka. Good food takes time.» Malaka or malakas means«wanker» in English. Apparently mediocre food takes time too. The Bottom line: Food: Adequate. 3 stars Service: Slow, but friendly. 3 stars

I had heard great things about this place, yet being a skeptical vegetarian/pescetarian, I thought there’d be nothing for me here. After having their veggie gyro, I have to rescind that initial feeling. The veggie gyro is HUGE! Chock full of cucumber-and-feta goodness. My wife had the lamb gyro and she also concurs that it is one of the best she’s had. Unfortunately, they were out of baklava on this day, so we did not get to try that. Just means we have more than one valid reason to come back. Top recommendation!

Sometimes tough Love pays off. They took a couple critical reviews and learned from them. The«new and improved» Lamb Gyros is so much better. In fact it’s much more like the Gyros I ate in Greece, then the Gyros I grew up on in Chicago. Nicely marinated and grilled Leg of Lamb sliced into thick chunks. The Chicken Gyros is tasty and the Lefty Special is off the hook. Also, the home made Spanakopita is very very tasty. I also heard a rumor that they might start serving Egg Lemon soup, an all time favorite of mine. And was my go to «soup penicillin» every time I got sick while living in Greece. Yes I’m blunt, very rough around the edges, and have no filter, but I’m honest. Real Greek food made with love. Ella tho

I got their Spicy Chicken Gyro($ 6): a 9-inch pita stuffed with seasoned, diced chicken, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a spicy jalapeño ranch sauce. The day I visited YoYo & Lefty’s, I overheard that the Spicy Chicken Gyro was selling like hotcakes. A great sign! The chicken was juicy and tender, seasoned nicely. I appreciated the fresh lettuce, tomato, and red onion in my gyro, and the jalapeño ranch provided a little kick while not being overly rich. The pita was OK, although it could have benefited from a little more toasting on the flattop. Despite being advertised as a spicy chicken gyro, it wasn’t very spicy — at least for me. There is a kick in there, but it shouldn’t harm anyone. YoYo & Lefty’s also offers the traditional gyro, souvlaki, salata, baklava, and more. But the one option that stands out at this cart: you can get french fries put INSIDE your gyro for $ 1 more! A take on the fat sandwich idea that Big-Ass Sandwiches currently uses. If it works for BAS, it can work for a gyro cart! A respectable spicy chicken gyro here, but if I return, it’ll probably be for the traditional gyro. There are times where it’s probably best to stick with ordering the classics.

Third time was definitely the charm — I had read on their Twitter feed that they were trying out new lamb shoulder, cut daily. Although I had planned on being back just to try something different, I thought it was cool that they were listening to the reviews so I gave the lamb one more go — WOW! Huge improvement — no more dry, thinly sliced meat. The meat is now cooked to order(even done to your preference, medium, well, etc.), and large enough that you can see a bit of red in the middle if that’s how you ordered. It’s now arguably the best gyro meat in the city, well worth the slightly higher price tag than most other gyro carts. Now I’m looking forward to trying a few of their other options.

AMAZING! Just got back from greece and visited some family in portland this past weekend. We ended at Yoyo & Lefty’s on a late saturday night after being out & about… the food was phenomenal. Ordered the Yoyo Special which reminded me of the greek pitas i had in greece… except for it had cheddar cheese alongside feta… SOGOOD. Also got the greek fries which is a must and a Lefty Special which is a bacon cheeseburger as a Gyro… well done! Overall, you gotta hit this spot up if you’re looking for great food truck food at anytime of the day.

I grew up near a Greek village in Tarpon Springs Florida. This is as close to the real thing as your ever going to get on the West Coast. Actually it is as good. The Gyro’s are killer. This place will take off fast. Go now while the lines are small because there will be a long wait in the near future. Even when that happens(and it will happen) stick around it’s well worth it.
