Delicious! Super nice guy who runs the cart. I love the chicken gyro. Make it a super for only $ 2

It had been awhile since we last visited this food cart, so hubby and I decided to head down town to get our fix for Greek and Middle Eastern food. We got enough to bring home for the rest of the family: falafel sandwiches, chicken gyros, and lamb gyros. The owner was working the booth alone, so there was a bit of a wait, but it was a nice sunny day in Portland, so we didn’t mind a bit! Our gyros were absolutely delicious as were the falafel sandwiches. Perfectly made, tasty, and fresh.

I mourn the loss of my favorite gyro in Portland. New owner and it’s obvious! Instead of yummy yogurt sauce, the lamb gyros now have a strange red french dressing and hot sauce. Yuck! RIP A Taste of Greek, at least to me… I am soooooooooo sad!

Really tasty gyros. I had the lamb. Quick service and friendly. I’ll definitely be back to try the chicken gyro and other dishes. I’ve tried a lot of baklava — it’s one of my favorite desserts. The baklava here isn’t bad; just a little too sweet for my tastes. Tastes like they used something other than honey. I’d give it by itself between 2 and 2.5 stars.

This is the owner of Greek Express’ «new» temporary location. Same food. Same owner. Different location. Check it out!

I love this place. Best Mediterranean food I’ve ever had– their gyro and chicken sandwich is the best thing I’ve had. I’m for sure coming back again.

So far I’ve the greek salad with lamb and it is amazing. The dressing is tangy and perfect. The meat is tender and salty. The veggies are crisp and fresh! I love this spot!

I loved this cart and have eaten there many times. However, it now has a new owner, so be aware that it might not be what you’re used to. The food still seems good, but prices are higher, and the new owners are less accommodating to customer requests. I stopped at the cart on Monday for lunch. One of my go-to meals used to be the small salad + lamb, but the new owners refused to do that. They said the box was too small to fit the meat in, even though the previous owners seemed to manage this. The salads went from $ 3 to $ 5 for the small, and $ 5 to $ 7 for the large; extra meat was still $ 2. I understand that the new owners might want to raise prices or change practices, but on the other hand, if they aren’t willing to sell me what I want to order, I’ll eat there less frequently. It just didn’t make a great impression.

Super Lamb Gyro is a good pick. Tasty meat, soft-fresh bread, fresh toppings. The parsley, yogurt sauce and tomatoes set it off. And the portion is huge, I stuffed 60% of it down my throat after going all day without eating. That’s how big it is. It was $ 7.50. Bottled water is $ 1. There’s little places nearby where you can sit to eat, be creative, they’re there. Rail Stop: 1st Ave/SW Oak(red) — it’s on 2nd so you could cut through building 333SW1st Ave instead of circling the block.

I ordered the regular sized lamb euro which was reasonably priced at $ 6. There was a good amount of tzaziki sauce, nice veggies, and a soft pita. The service was super fast and friendly.

4 very well deserved stars. I have eaten at every gyro food cart in Portland, and this one, hands down, is the best. He also makes great tiziki sauce that you can order alone. I never go anywhere else for a gyro. A 5 star would probably be directly from Greece on the Mediterranean. So for Portland food carts, he wins.

I was looking for some proper Greek style gyro action and while the gyro was decent it didn’t feel totally authentic somehow and just missed the mark for me. But it’s not bad by any means so if you need a fix then I’d say go for it.

Easily the best greek I have found. In the past I’ve mostly had just the regular lamb gyro, but it is still so filling even.(could not imaging how big the super version is). They use big, real chunks of lamb right off of the spit. It’s delicious and they give you a lot of meat. They also have amazing falafel(which I am eating right now). They are almost never that busy and it really surprises me. Out of all the greek stands/carts, easily the best of all the carts I have tried and also the most reasonably priced. They also have very fast service.

Gazpacho is fiend worthy. I could swim in that s*#t. It’s only seasonal though… Greek salad with chicken is a winner too; may be more difficult to swim in.

Really nice brazilian dude served me. I ordered a super falafel even though they I formed me their lamb gyro is their popular choice. Very delicious. Awsome lunch. Tasty and filled me up. Sat in the shade under a tree and enjoyed very much. Made my morning better.

Whoa, I made Elite 2014. Fucking awesome. With that being said, I will review my favorite Gyro place in Portland. This is an unassuming food cart on Second ave sitting nearly by itself. All the employees are really friendly and the food is great. The gyro meat is different than most places. Rather than being long this strips the meat is cut in to chunks. This offers an amazing mouth feel you don;t get from other gyros. The bread is soft and fresh and the sauce is garlic filled and amazing! Any chance I get to be downtown at lunch time and eat Gyros makes me a happy guy.

This place is a perfect quick-bite-to-eat place. The hummus is some of the best that i’ve tried and the lamb gyro is very yummy; not too dry, perfect amount of sauce and veggies. Great place.

Cue the gyro bender yet again. While I’m down to trying just about anything, if I can’t make up my mind, the default options narrow to three choices. Gyros are one of those options. Admittedly, this cart was one of many on my list for a zillion lifetimes. I had passed by the cart several times in the past, but failed to stop and get something. Not this time. It’s your typical Greek menu choices here, but I zeroed in on the super lamb gyro($ 7.50) from a gazillion miles away. Why not just a regular lamb gyro, you might ask? Aside from being a bigger pita with more meat(which is always awesome), the super lamb gyro includes the all-important feta cheese. I’ve heard a number of rave reviews of this cart, and they were dead on. The juicy, tender lamb is cut in chunks instead of flat, long slices. The tzatziki had excellent flavor and consistency. Fresh diced tomatoes and onions here. But it was the feta cheese cubes that made me keep eating. I also love that they added parsley to the gyro for another dimension of flavor. The gyro certainly fit the«super» billing. Good size and weight on this one. An abundance of meat, veggies, feta, and tzatziki filled the thick pita. It may be a chore to handle this gyro, and don’t be surprised if the pita can’t contain all the awesomeness. Appetizers include hummus w/pita($ 4), dolmades($ 1 each), and falafel balls(75 cents each).Regular sandwiches or gyros are $ 5 to $ 5.50, with the«super» version about a couple bucks more. Yes, they have Greek salad($ 3 small, $ 5 regular) and tabouli($ 6). There may be baklava available as well. Real nice people here. I walked to the adjacent cart(closed at the time) to unwrap and eat my gyro, and the man in the cart asked if I wanted a seat in front of his cart. I politely declined, mainly because I do my best food destruction standing up. But still, very cool of him to make the offer. Give these guys some love and check this cart out!

Charlie Brown used to say, «good grief» pretty often. Mostly when Lucy would set up a football for him to kick and pull it away at the last second as he was trying to connect his foot to it. My version of that phrase is good Greek. I randomly found some good Greek. Sometimes random is the best way. It was almost my ritual Friday treat myself to lunch deal. I don’t go out to lunch every Friday, but Friday is the day I would most likely go out to lunch as it is the day I usually have the least amount of food at home to actually make something for that meal. Anyway, I took a walk and ended up at this cart pod. Greek caught my eye. Must have been the bright yellow truck on a gray day. I ordered the Lamb platter($ 7.50) and it is definitely a good amount of food. You get a solid amount of lamb covered in tzatziki sauce on top of pita, rice with tomatoes and parsley and a salad with lettuce, feta, kalamata olives, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. All made to order and very fresh. For a quick Greek fix, I would suggest giving A Taste of Greek a try.
