Wishing you guys shipped to Chicago. Best gluten free baked goods I have tried, and I have covered Chicago and Orlando, for comparison. Beautiful textures and flavors. A definite must for gluten free dairy free if you’re in the area.

New Cascadia was the first gluten free bakery that I ever heard of and since then I’ve tried many more in Portland. But New Cascadia still stands out as the overall favorite choice for me. They do fresh baked bread better than anyone, and there’s a varied selection of breads. Another stand-out item is their bagels, which are traditionally prepared with boiling, and are SO fabulous I’m sometimes cautious about getting too many or I’ll overindulge. Their sweets are good too, but my favorite pastry is their savory galettes. For eating in, the atmosphere is self-serve, but it is pleasant with some private and also a long communal table. Don’t forget the pizza — their pizza is exceptional, the best gluten free in town I think.

Best gluten free bread in the NW! 100% dedicated gluten free facility. Love the baguettes and they have good sandwiches.

Love this place. Love the food. Love the variety. Love love love the vegan cupcakes. And I’m not vegan. Things I have enjoyed: Bagels(come early and snag a bag of day-olds!) Every single cupcake Lunchtime sandwiches More cupcakes The pizza is a tad bland but it’s awesome to be able to get a little personal gf pizza, so that pretty much makes up for it.

So delicious. I stop by almost every time I am in PDX. I have friends who eat wheat that buy their bread because it’s amazing. Cupcakes are always my favorite, but I’ve never had anything bad here!

(Celiac Review) My wife and I recently visited Portland, OR. And we came with a list of Gluten Free restaurants and bakeries we wanted to try. We dropped into New Cascadia near lunch time on a weekday. It’s a quaint little place with a nice atmosphere, but limited seating. The fact that we showed up near lunchtime may have been the reason we had a little trouble finding seating inside for the three of us. I had a Mediterranean Chicken sandwich, which was very good, and came with chips on the side. My wife had a Greek Salad with added chicken that she enjoyed very much. We would have liked to have returned to the New Cascadia, but we just didn’t find the time or opportunity. We were happy that we got to eat there and experience another great Dedicated Gluten Free venue to dine at!

Went here for lunch with the family and tried a few different pizzas. I tried a slice of blue cheese and pear which had a nice consistency but had so much blue cheese all other flavors were lost and I actually didn’t finish the slice(good thing others with me enjoy pure blue cheese). The thin crust pizza had a very different, but also very good consistency and hit the spot. I’d go back for one of those!

They got a solid 5 stars for the best vegan gluten-free bread, cupcake and chocolate chip cookie I have ever had. While I’m a huge fan of all the other yummy gluten-free and vegan friendly bakeries in town, in my opinion, New Cascadia out-baked them all!

Yummy! As visitors to Portland, we had heard that there were some wonderful gluten free bakeries. New Cascadia Traditional did not disappoint. We tried two different kinds of pizza, one with a crispy crust and one with a potato crust and loved both. Best of all was the zucchini bread, which was chewy and delicious. My husband, who has Celiac’s, hasn’t been able to eat any sweet breads like that in many years. He was thrilled to have such a tasty treat.

Holy CRAP, this is delicious! The sesame bagel was a revelation, the French bread is a perfect«crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside,» and the rosemary kalamata bread pretty much makes me see God with every bite — it’s worth getting up early on a Saturday morning to make sure I get a loaf before it sells out. I can’t get enough of their super delicious food, and their ultra friendly staff. This places makes it SO easy to follow the gluten-free eating guidelines I’ve been given by my health care provider — THANKYOU!

I love the gf baked goods and have even ordered a wedding cake and had a lovely experience with that– but the service is excruciatingly slow. I certainly cannot just run in and get something to go in a reasonable amount of time. Which is highly frustrating as the product is very good.

I got my Freeeennnch toast fix. I got my Freeeeennch toast fix. Can I get a F, R, E, N, C, H what does that spell? YUUUUMMMMY This was my first time eating here and it was a nice surprise. Unfortunately they were out of the potato pancakes and coconut parfait, which was a bummer(we got there late though), but then something else caught my eye… it was French :) Outside seating, clean, lots of gluten free options. Not too many diary free though :/ Other than that, it is a swell place.

Fantastic place with a lot of options! Can’t miss! I had the apple pie and cinnamon rolls and they were both amazing. The atmosphere is a comfortable coffee shop with tables if you want to stay longer.

Wait Time, Customer Service, Environment, and Quality were all great! I was so happy to be able to stop this shop to grab some breakfast and a few sweet treats while my car was getting looked at at Green Drop. I got a vegan, gluten free chocolate chip cookie, a vegan and gluten free peanut butter cookie, and an everything bagel with tofutti cream cheese. The chocolate chip cookie was my favorite of the two cookies and the bagel was the perfect breakfast. I was also very pleased to see them so busy!

I’m a reluctant experimenter of GF and dairy/egg free products due to a weird skin rash. Would you like to hear more about my rash while you’re trying to decide where to eat? No? Fine… What I experienced today impressed me. The focus here is baked goods – and that’s really where this place shines. My flatbread was deliciously chewy but my chicken breast was a little overcooked. The vegan GF hazelnut cupcake was one of the better cupcakes(of the hundreds of cupcakes) I’ve had. Period. The cupcake texture was pretty heavy and dense. It wasn’t dry or crumbly, but, since it was vegan, it didn’t have that super spongy eggy crumb or the oily buttery crumb. It was pleasantly firm and rich, with excellent, in-your face chocolate flavor and a crunchy praline on top that blew. my. mind. Definitely coming back. Lots of options. I

I have been gluten-free since 1987(because of Celiac) and I haven’t ever had things like brioche or good baguettes/bagels until I went here. I go here every time I’m in Portland and I haven’t been disappointed by anything I’ve ordered! Also they serve delicious coffee. I highly recommend this place — and specifically the bagels!

Awesome bakery, even if you can eat gluten. I grabbed a loaf of day-old cinnamon raisin bread and a baguette for a weekend of mixed guten-free and gluten-eaters. The cinnamon bread made delicious toast and was a hit with everyone – I’m pretty sure no one knew it was GF. One of the pickier eaters preferred the regular baguette to the GF one, but everyone else was into it. I reallllllly want to try their bagels now… UPDATE: Do *not* try their bagels unless you want to find yourself making excuses to got New Cascadia twice a week. The toasted everything bagels are dangerously habit forming. You have been warned.

Man things just keep getting better here. The pizzas are way better than I remember and they have gotten better with customer service. Used to be just one person waiting on the line and the others were of that über mensch giving you the your not good enough to eat here look. All that has disappeared. They have also turned into more of a coffee joint. Making lots of drinks and offering espresso. I guess things do get better with age. The breads are way better than when they started and the desserts and treats are no longer just something you could make at home but are too lazy to try. Good job on not going totally Portland on us. We appreciate the good food and the good service.

If you are gluten free, you need to come here. I have lived all over the country and still, I was buying the same gross loaf of Udi’s when I didn’t want to make my own bread at home.(Which is most of the time. I could be watching Sherlock, c’mon.) You can find New Cascadia bread products all around town, from the grocer to the Tin Shed. From challah to hamburger buns to baguettes, they have you covered. If you are gluten free for real and miss a good bread, this place is heaven. Baguettes you can slice thickly with hearty crust and dip in your soup. Or slice thin for crostinis. Remember crostinis? Of course you don’t, it’s been so long. But with these baguettes, welcome back crostinis and crusty bread on the outside and chewy on the inside! Ahhhh. The sandwich bread is miles above your typical GF sandwich bread. The bread even sticks to your teeth like wheat bread does. It doesn’t fall apart when you eat it. Their pizza crust they serve for lunch is divine. I’m only sad because I can’t buy the pizza crust on its own. Maybe someday. They’re open for lunch and now Sunday brunch. Their Sunday brunch options are kind of weak at the moment, but I’m hoping they expand it more as they try it out. Some pancakes or waffles from this place would probably rock.
