Horrible Food. Fun & Funky ambiance. Horrible food. So-so service. Did I mention the horrible food? Dungeon burger was ok. Fries where soggy, greasy and barely warm Fish & chips were 2 pieces of fish pulled out of the freezer and fried. Small. Tasteless. Over-cooked. Served with same horrible fries. They only have their own Portland Catsup. WTF! Who doesn’t have Heinz Ketchup??? It is nasty and watery. Can’t believe anyone likes it, especially not ketchup lovers. We thought dessert could save the meal. Wring again. Marionberry Crumble was ok. Ice cream was good. Black and Tan brownie was ok. But they drizzle the plate with too much Hershey syrup from a can. Both desserts were so hot from the microwave the ice cream melted right away. That was fine, we couldn’t wait to leave either! Just gross.

Burgers… ok, service… ok, beer… marginal, wings… garbage We wanted burgers and had a craving for hot wings. We went to blue moon expecting at least decent beet and burgers but they definitely left a lot to be expected. Decently disappointed for a local chain.

McMenamin’s, I have been patronizing your establishments for twelve years. In that time, the food quality has not improved markedly, but it has doubled in price. Today I ordered an $ 8.25 salad that looked like a side salad. WTF? I still love the idea of McMenamin’s, but in practice actually ordering their food is a losing game. Order from the kids’ menu(like my husband, who is smarter than I am) or come for happy hour – otherwise, it’s a quaint, custom-painted trap. Signing off – I’m going to go home and eat a real lunch.

If I could give this place a negative rating, I would. Ate here two nights ago and was thoroughly disappointed with not only the service, but the food and drinks as well. The food was by far the most disgusting food I have ever had while dining out, and I am by no means high maintenance. I will never return to this location, and I highly suggest to anyone else thinking about eating at this establishment to choose elsewhere, literally anywhere else.

This place is like all your basic mcmenamins. There are plenty of healthier, better options in the neighborhood that aren’t blue moon. First of all, the vegetarian options are few and far between. My friend and I decided to have the mushroom pepper sandwich. It was pretty good, greasy bar food. We had tots with ranch, also, they were fine. Nothing amazing but good nonetheless. When we got home I felt so sick. I don’t know if it was that the veggies were cooked on a griddle with animal fat or what but it made me SO sick. I threw up the entire thing. Followed by that, my friend was feeling really sick too. Probably won’t be back.

I visited here with some friends on a weekend trip to Portland. We came in on a Saturday night around 9pm & it was pretty busy, but we were able to find a table. I liked the entertainment options like the shuffleboard and pool tables, & the fireplace was also unique. Our service was pretty slow, but they were really busy. When we finally got our food, which was tater tots, sliders, and ice cream, we were all satisfied.

Your basic McMenamins. Nice lights, cozy surroundings, basic dependable food. Some nice features: pool tables, shuffleboard, pinball machines, and a really cozy round fireplace. Service is hit or miss. This time was pretty good, since we are in here on a Monday before 6pm.

Oh, and I forgot to mention. that the Moroccan coffee was yummy! First hot coffee drink in awhile that wasn’t lukewarm and stale and bland. This coffee drink was awesome!

Had my birthday there last night. The service was great. I love this place for pool and shuffle board. Great vibe, food and drink. Prices aren’t bad either.

Out of all the McMenamins I’ve been to, I think this location is in my top 3. I’ve never had trouble getting a seat, or a drink, and if you’re in a group(and willing to wait), you can play some games. Also, there’s a cool indoor firepit for those cold nights. One of the biggest reasons why I like this spot is because they make a really good greyhound, squeezing their own grapefruit juice when you order. Sure, you’re not going to get 5-star food, but it’s pub food and not expensive. So drink it with some beer(or in my case, a Greyhound) and play some pool.

My neighborhood hang out. Best staff on 21st! Love you guys :) Typical McMenamins fare. Great jukebox. Great place to meet family and friends for beer and burgers. Super busy after 9 on weekends and after soccer games so don’t expect anything more than very slow service.

My friend and I dined on a humid summer day and opted for the booths near the open windows. Server was friendly but busy. The gyros were excellent, tasty with a good amount of feta; nice and dry. The tots are a portland specialty. We split a pitcher of the seasonal red IPA It would have been nice to have had the waters refilled. They should have more servers or at least assist each other when busy: teamwork is everything in this industry!

Awesome place. Typical Mcmenamins. Clam chowder was unique and delicious. My wife had the red eye taco; and enjoyed it. As always, great beer. They have several good game tables including pool and two shuffleboard tables. We wish we’d had more time to enjoy this place.

If I could rate this place a 0 stars it would. I was there 2 hours. A group of 10+. We couldn’t get served. Told if we ordered food it would be over an hour before getting it. Those who did order food never got it! Half of us never got a damn drink orders!!! What the hell kinda place is this! The parking here is impossible! I can’t think of one positive thing to say. I won’t ever go back!

The service at this place is flat terrible. Can’t get food, 40 minutes for a drink. The music isn’t good either. Won’t come back here even if they let me drink for free. Not to mention parking sucks!

I was immediately delighted by the dimly lit, tavern atmosphere. Pool tables, shuffleboard, and pinball machines for entertainment. Standard pub fare, but very yummy. I enjoyed the spicy chicken sandwich very much. I also liked the beer list: I tried they Ruby raspberry and it was delicious. Very accommodating to large party.

I was stepping through the Nob Hill district on my way to Goorin Brothers for their shots & schmooze happy hour and try on a hat every Thursday 4−8PM. Feelin ready for grub. Thought I’d fill the tub at Blue Moon Happy Hour. I’ve been to many many McMenamins like ya all. We know $ 4 beer is cold. Mini cheesburger $ 4 is grass fed(confirmed with the bar keep). All Mc’s grass fed now — notch up on the menu. And hand cut fries $ 2 — I’m a mid-west meat and potato raised boy! Yum! Since it’s now 84 °F out, a sidewalk table under a shade tree with street music — peeps pumping pedals in their steel and glass bubbles rolling by. I’m gettin my IPA beer buzzzzzzzz going with the street flow. Grub arrived in short order. The burger was juicy loaded with lettuce, tomato and cheese and a delicious sauce. And hand cut fries, skin on, not greasy, crunchy and served hot with a new bottle of Portland organic ketchup — not like some even good restaurants serve ketchup in a plastic bottle cycled through the dish washer many times. Gross! Plastic breaks down and can cause endocrine disruptor’s. Bad bad 4U&Me! Good grub, good table, good service and good value = 4 good’s = 4 star outing! Glad I stopped for happy hour!

I think a three star is totally apt for this McMenamins location. While it is posh with the indoor fire, pool tables, and jukebox, the service is still lackluster. My girlfriend and I waited about 10 minutes for a beer. Which is cool, but the barback — as opposed to the bartender — could have helped us. The outside view is nice on a warm day and that’s much appreciated. Go for the rubinator(ruby red and terminator) for the full experience, and see what you think of it!

We have been here a couple of times, we have had great service each time. This time we came with our teenage boys and they really enjoyed the atmosphere too.

I live right around the corner and I gotta say, having that beautiful fire that I can sit around with the sweet swelling smoke and community atmosphere is a bonus. The food here is typical McMenamins, very average but adequate. Cocktails are weak. On the weekends this place is packed with a crowd that I usually don’t hang out with… lots of frat and jocks. Service, especially if you sit at a booth, can take FOREVER. But, happy hour at 10pm usually hits the spot and their cajun tots are very delicious.

Been here a few times because I love sitting around that firepit on those cold winter nights and also because I might be «slightly» addicted to those Cajun tater tots. Service is hit or miss.

Came here on a date. It was pretty good for that. The windows/doors roll up and you can dine semi-al fresco. We had a few beers and the soft pretzel. Wasn’t in love with the pretzel, I’ve probably been corrupted by mall pretzels. But those pretzels. They rule. This was just okay. No dedicated parking. But they have a cool fireplace and pool tables. Service was good and attentive without being overbearing or forceful. AOK.

After a long day of hitting breweries, we decided it was time for some food. We heard how we had to go to at least one McMenamin’s location, and were thrilled when we happened to wander towards this location. It was a large bar, with pool and other bar games, a «free standing» fire«pit»(I really don’t know how to describe it– it just wasn’t connected to the wall), that people were sitting around, more loungey areas and outdoor seating. If I could give this place 2.5 stars, I would. I had a pork covered hotdog– I don’t know why, I think I was thinking«it’s a fun idea to try a Portland-style dog, over a Chicago one!». It wasn’t great, yet I still ate it. It didn’t come with any sides. Our waiter seemed like kind of a jerk. He made a little small talk but snapped at me for how I pronounced«Oregon». Apparently it’s not Ore-a-gon, it’s Ore-a-gin. Sorry, man. They had beer taster trays that my friend enjoyed, and local liquor for mixed drinks. I’m pretty sure the biggest Phil Collins fan was there– that was 90% of the music we ended up hearing. It was a weird night. We still had fun, but my impression overall was just«average».

I can’t put my finger on why but I come here more than most of their locations… food is McMenamins standard though always done well. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
I like the exterior and the decorating. Besides the food and of course the beer, they have lots of games here, pool, shuffleboard(the table version) and Pinball. This is in a great location in NW Portland just down from Cinema 21 and seemingly close to everything, If you come in the summers in the front the windows all open up. If you come in the winter grab a spot near the fire… and if you aren’t already on the quest ask about the passport… The only real bad side is parking, good luck with that, you’re going to need it. They do not have their own lot here and it is in the middle of everything so everyone already took all the parking.
