The estimate to replace the power jack inside my laptop was in the neighborhood of $ 129 prior to diagnostics, then after the diagnostics, they called and said it would be $ 159. That’s nearly a 25% increase. (The replacement part sells for well under $ 5.) But when picking up the unit, the bill was $ 200. What??? The reason given was that the power cord was faulty and dangerous to the machine, and had to be replaced. My cord was brand new and it had already been tested by a specialist in small electronics. Further, I should have had the option of buying a new cord rather than having it pushed on me.
REVIEW UPDATE. And, they damaged my wifi or didn’t hook it back up right. It acted like it was working, but would never connect. I tried everything, including re-​formatting the drive and re-​loading the entire O/​S. Would have posted this update earlier, but wasn’t aware I could edit a posted review ’til today.

Brought a laptop in that was suffering from a virus. Got a call back and said no problem they can take care of the virus. Great. Service was fast but when I got my computer back the hard drive was gutted. All I had was my windows operating system and that’s it. Lost my MS Office, every program, document, picture, music, everything was gone. Had I been informed of this in advance I would have gone a different route. At least let me know that will be the result before you start in on deleting several years of work. I’m a cloud guy now. There are a lot better options in town.

I got that fake FBI malware on my computer this past weekend and searched Unilocal for a reliable computer repair shop that wouldn’t charge me an arm and a leg to get the problem fixed. Not being a computer person, I was extremely happy that they didn’t try to upsell me anything I didn’t need like Geek Squad. It’s nice to drop your laptop off and pick it up a couple of days later without having people over explain the problem, that I probably wouldn’t understand anyway!
I’d recommend Mad Dog Computer Repair to any of my friends’ and strangers!!!

Did the diagnostics on my desktop that I couldn’t figure out myself. Much better experience than you’ll find elsewhere! Cheaper than the big big stores, more personalized customer service, and kept me in tkhe loop the whole time. Highly recommend!
