Good heavens this cart is SLOW. I do not recommend it if you’re in a hurry! But the owner is an adorably nice man, even if he cannot communicate with his customers to save his life, and his food was fine; I had the lamb shawarma and found it to be excellent. It was $ 8 and I thought it was a very large serving of shredded, tender, well-​marinated lamb in a very large, warm flatbred. It came with lettuce and onion and, in my case, jalapenos, because I’d asked the cart owner if I could have the shawarma spicy. He had no idea what I was saying at first; when he finally understood, he held out a bottle of Tabasco with great delight. I grinned and shook my head no thanks, never mind. He looked puzzled, then lit up like a light bulb and said one clear word: «jalapenos?» and I laughed and said «sure why not.» So mine had jalapenos. I thought it was sweet he was trying to figure out what I wanted — but thank heavens I had the time for all the antics. If I had been in a hurry, it would not have been so amusing that it took 10 minutes to order my food, and other 15 to get it.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I just read in another review that the reviewer was short changed. I find this interesting, because he shortchanged the customer in front of me by $ 10; she pointed out his mistake and he apologized profusely and handed her back her $ 10 — I gave him exact change so I personally didn’t have a problem but you might want to be careful here with your cash. Could be that he can’t do the math well, could be that he’s not paying attention, could be that he’s assuming you’re tipping; whatever the case, be careful.
