Euro Trash

While on vacation, I ventured in Portland to this food truck. It had by far the most interesting menu, so I decided to give it a try. I had the calamari sandwich. At $ 11 dollars, it is one of the more pricey food trucks, given that it is just the sandwich, no sides.
The sandwich itself was delicious. The calamari were crunchy and the slaw part was nothing like anything I have tasted before. I do wish there was perhaps a touch more calamari and a little less of the slaw part, as it overwhelmed the sandwich a bit. The bread was awesome as well. It is a messy sandwich, but definitely worth it.
They have odd hours though, because I ordered my sandwich around lunchtime (noon) and a few minutes after they handed me my sandwich, they closed up shop and did not return!

First reaction was «Best damn burger I’ve ever had!» It was purely amazing! Also the guy was super cool! Definitely coming back before heading back home to Minnesota.

Calamari sandwich — I wish there was more calamari and less slaw. It is was a messy sandwich to eat.
Mushrooms — Mushrooms were fresh, but I didn’t like the batter which made it very heavy.

I’m from California, where they banned foie gras. So when I saw that Euro Trash has a seared foie gras over potatoes, I immediately ordered!
I was really disappointed to see the tiny piece of seared foie gras over this huge bed of potatoes. My single order was $ 18, and I definitely don’t think it was worth it.
Yes, the foie gras tasted good, but I could barely taste anything because my piece was so small.
The potatoes were too soggy for me, and I wasn’t a fan of the sauce on top.
If you come here, don’t order the foie gras, it’s a waste of money. Other items on the menu were much more reasonably priced.

Interesting cart! They are card friendly and pretty chill to chat with! A little on the spendy for a food cart but I would say that its worth it. The Nah-​Nah Chips are fantastic! Fresh potatoes everyday – my weakness here. The savory aioli dressing is to die for, probably the best I’ve had! Check it out! I’ll update this once I try more!

Delicious, delicious beer battered stuff! Dare I say it, quite possibly the best onion rings/​strings I’ve had ever. And, since the soft shell crab in the crabby sando was also covered and deep fried with the same batter, it also was quite delicious. When I think about it, anything smothered with the batter would probably be a tummy-​pleaser. But, food that gets your tongue doing happy dances comes at a price: About $ 15 for a not so big crab sandwich and onion strings from a food pod. .. worth it? Yes. .. but not too often unless you’re some descendent of daddy warbucks or someone else with money to spare.

Officially one of my all time favourite food carts. Why? Because soft shell crab sandwich with onion rings that’s why!
The one downside is that this food comes pricey for the foodcart crowd. $ 10 for a whole soft-​shell crab on a sandwich isn’t a bad deal in the grand scheme of things, however. $ 4 gets you a tray full of freshly made, super thin, perfectly crispy onion rings. The crabby patty — a whole softshell crab on a real beef burger — will set you back a hefty $ 15, but dear god it looks amazing (I am sad I couldn’t afford to try it for lunch).
The service was pretty quick and my crab sandwich was delicious. I sad down with the crabby sandwich and ate it with love and gratitude for crustaceans everywhere. The bun was buttery and perfectly toasted, the crab crispy and hot.
Yes I will come here again. But of course, it will have to be a special treat. ;)
Bonus points because this foodcart accepts cards.

Certainly the most decorative food truck in the mash-​up. Only ate there once and had the squid taco, which was pretty good. Not particularly friendly staff, as if they were too cool to be concerned with customer service. I’d rather, frankly, go to the Ethiopian or Polish truck; less trendy, more friendly. Part of the experience of eating «out» is the interaction with the truck folk.

I’m a huge food truck fan, and I’d heard that Euro trash was one of the more «hip and cool» food trucks to head over. While I wouldn’t agree that the food is «hip» as in trendy, the food was definitely cool!
My friend ordered the Ultimate BLT, and was quite happy with the not-​overwhelming-​but-​satisfying amount of bacon. I ordered the Krabby Patty, a hamburger with a bit of fish and tartar sauce. While the beef, bun, and vegetables were perfect (something I usually don’t say about iceberg lettuce!), I could barely taste the fish on the sandwich and the tartar sauce was definitely subpar. It was far too goopy, and drowned everything else out.
I definitely want to try this cart again, but I definitely wouldn’t order what I did before. I hope the rest of their dishes are lovely!

This is one of the reasons why I gained 7 pounds in 7 days in Portland. $ 17 bucks for a tiny tiny sandwich is very expensive, but every bite was like a 100 bucks. We split the foie gras with quail egg sandwich and it was bomb diggity! I take pictures of mostly everything I eat, but it was sooooo tasty that I didn’t have a time to snap one. It’s a super simple sandwich: just small piece of foie gras, quail egg, some greens, and some kind of caesar sauce. The combination is like an explosion in your mouth. I just wish the foie gras was a bit bigger :(

Tried the squidvana, which is more like: where’s the squid, Vanna? The bread is super good because it’s grilled/​toasted first, the only redeeming quality of this $ 9 sandwich. Tons of coleslaw, hardly noticeable calamari on the bottom. The nah nah chips are freshly fried potato chips which are good and crispy. But again, worth the $ 4? I think not.
I must say, I loved the fried anchovies though! That was what turned me into Euro Trash during Eat Mobile a few years ago.

I have mad, mad food truck mecca jealousy after a visit to Portland. And most of my green-​eyed monster looks will be thrown at those of you who can daily enjoy the good grub from Euro Trash.
Eating here was literally the only thing I insisted must be done while in Portland, and I wasn’t disappointed. I had the Foie Gras sandwich, due in large part to the banning of foie down here in the Golden State. It was grilled to *perfection* and was well-​matched with the coleslaw and the slightly sweet roll. Yes, it was $ 17. No, I did not think twice that I overpaid. It was THAT GOOD.
Friends had the little fried and breaded fishies, which are great if you like fishies, but you have to really like them. We also shared the chorizo fries, which were excellent as well.
Go to Euro Trash. Embrace your culinary options. Feel sorry for those of us stuck in an endless summer without so much as goose liver in sight.

This was a fun stop with creative eats. Loved the Piri-​Piri Chicken.
Cheap and yummy. Portions could be a bit larger. Gus was a darling and very entertaining. It would be nice if there was some seating, but not much room for that.
Maybe some high stools or chairs to pull up to the counter at the cart.
I would definitely eat there again. Not sure if I’d go out of my way for it though.
But If I’m in the hood, for sure.

A little trashing of Euro Trash (sorry)
So, I’ve heard SO much about this cart that now that my office is close to the 10^th and Alder pod, I thought I’d have to try it. I saw some of the reviews were a little mixed and I’m sad to say I’m one of the negative nellies on this one. I heard the fois gras was a teeny piece of fois gras on a giant pile of fried chips for $ 12. I saw it… they were right, TINY fois gras, giant pile of chips… but NOW it’s $ 14. I’ll pick something else.
I ordered the Shrimp Baguette… described as shrimp with curried slaw on a toasted baguette. Perfect.
What I got was a HUGE pile of slaw with 6 medium sized prawns swimming in the bottom of way too much slaw dressing on top of a now completely soaked and pretty nasty (former) baguette. Why am I really complaining?

Overall the flavors were good but since it took me 15 minutes to claw my way through the slaw just to get to the now ice cold shrimp, the experience was not what I was expecting. Did I mention it was NINE DOLLARS???
For what I got… I’d call $ 6.50…m…a…y…b…e $ 7.00 but NOT $ 9.00.
Dear EuroTrash, Perhaps you’re losing sight of the fact that the whole point to the carts is great street food at a great price. You have to make money, for sure, but you don’t have to bilk the diners. Maybe you should walk around the block and look at what your 50+ cart neighbors are selling and for how much. You’ve got the food flavors right, but the portion size and price «sont incroyable!»
I’ll be tossing these guys in the can and moving 10 feet to the left or right next time.

Came upon Euro Trash while searching through the Food Carts between Washington and Alder and 10^th.
Very kitschy design caught my curiosity. Ordered the Prawn Baguette, and I’m glad I did. What a delicious surprise. Prawns and slaw, yum!
Make sure to get extra napkins, since this is a pretty sloppy selection for street food. I wish there were convienent places nearby to sit and eat something as messy as the Baguette. But that’s a problem for the entire Food Cart scene, not just Euro Trash.
Nonetheless, the meal was memorable — in a fun way!

I loved the fact that my chicken, cheddar, bacon sandwich had a massive pile of horseradish cole slaw. Great flavors and textures. I found the serving size to be ample and the price was reasonable. I would definitely return.

Oh hello giant serving of flavorful prawns. Enchantée heaping helping of savory slaw all piled on a fresh baguette.
Seriously, my heart skips a beat whenever I walk by this cart and I relive the sunny Saturday that my friend and I sat out out on the curb and had lunch from this cart.
The prawns in my order were de-​veined, de-​tailed, and there were plenty of them. And for $ 9.00 there damn well better be.
I for one have no qualms about going back and I will probably order the same yummy thing.

Awsome escargot!!!

I bought a 9 dollar sandwich. Curried prawn with aioli coleslaw. It was more like a colesla sandwich with a piece of prawn. It wasn’t even that good. I was so disappointed, I offered it to a homeless guy begging for money for food, he turned it down, so I threw it away. Trash for real. So disappointed, and all for 9 bucks. At least my san pellegrino tasted good.

I’ve been here several time and always tried different items. The food is good and tasty. The only problem is the portion.
I know the foie gras isn’t cheap, don’t mind paying $ 12 for it. But when I got my food, the foie gras was tiny and very thin on humongous pile of chips. Also, prawn baguette had humongous pile of slaw. Don’t get me wrong, I love eating salad and vegetable. But I didn’t order a salad. The price tag was $ 9 which was a bit steep. By the way, those prawns were not deveined.
In the end, I think that EuroTrash has a good amount of potential with the impact of the flavors that went into the dish I had. However, the small portions and relatively poor value compared to other carts will likely prevent me from going back.
