We stopped in for dinner at 7PM and found the place almost empty! Maybe this is because parking is difficult at this location. We loved the two dishes we ordered: black pepper stir fry with chicken($ 9) and pumpkin curry with shrimp($ 11). We ordered the stir fry at a «3» level of hot and the curry at a «2»(on a scale of 1 – 5). Both were plenty spicy… The flavors were intense and all the ingredients were fresh. The curry had five of the largest shrimp we have ever seen in an Asian restaurant. White rice is offered at no extra charge. Portions are large enough that we could take out a second meal with leftovers. Our server was very nice and helpful. The food is prepared by the owner and came quickly out of the kitchen. The interior of the restaurant is lovely. ImJai Thai has a couple other good features that we have not taken advantage of yet: 1) there are five excellent local beers on tap and 2) lunch specials are available for $ 7.50.

This place is super delicious. One time I think they were playing something by a band called Hot Chip and it got stuck on repeat. Same song. Over and over. And if you know who Hot Chip is you know that it’s total fucking bullshit. Just the worst. I wanted to die. Right there. Dead. Woulda been better than Hot Chip. But the food is always fantastic.

After one order in this is probably my go to for delivery now. I went with red curry and some tom kah soup, vegan. Very flavorful stuff, exactly as I ordered. Also very reasonable pricing and good portions. The dude that showed up was really nice. The delivery time was accurate and quick. I’ll probably give another star when I’ve had a little more experience with them.

I came in on a chilly night for a curry-warm-me-up and the green curry was some of the most satisfying I’ve had recently. This place serves up straight-forward, tasty Thai food in a cute little spot on Belmont. Service was incredible and the menu was very vegetarian friendly.

Love this place. The food is made with care and is good and authentic(and healthy feeling)! Their desserts are good and fun. And they deliver(for a nominal fee). Don’t waste your time on other Thai spots in the area. Im Jai is good!

Picked up lunch this afternoon and I was very impressed. The pad thai was delicious and a huge portion for a lunch menu!

I order delivery at least 1−2x/month from ImJai and it is consistently awesome. There was a mistake with one of my orders — I got shrimp salad rolls instead of tofu. I can’t eat shrimp so I wasn’t terribly excited when I saw the error. I called up and let the lady know i got the wrong stuff and she was more than happy to fix the issue. I ended up just taking a credit for a future order because it seemed incredibly unnecessary for their driver come all the way back to my place for some salad rolls. No fuss, no muss, but the poor shrimp salad rolls went in the trash. Delivery is always really quick and the drivers are super nice. Outside of Kala, I’ve never had a restaurant be so consistently good.

The pineapple fried rice meal is delicious, very consistent and quality food — fast too(not that that should matter too much). Nice mellow atmosphere and friendly staff

Several a months ago, I would have given ImJai 5 stars, but lately they have consistently disappointed. I started ordering delivery from them when they first opened, and even though the dishes are a bit pricey and the portions are small, I continued to order from them because they are quick and the food is good. However, because of the small portions($ 18 for a container of beef drunken noodles and what looks like a half order of soup, my usual order), I have been hesitant to continue giving them business. Last night, I remembered why. I ordered drunken noodles and Tom Yum soup(with noodles) & extra broth. The noodles are an extra charge per their menu, and I requested extra broth. I am happy to pay for the extra broth ONLY because they always give a very small amount every time, no matter how I ask for a more on the side. Last night, they did not include the extra Tom Tum soup noodles that they charged me for, nor the broth. The woman on the phone taking my order was short and rude, which is not usually the case. I haven’t had this woman on the phone before, usually it sounds like a younger girl. I understand the restaurant was closing in about 20 minutes, but I live less than 6 blocks away. I find it hard to respect a business who is rude to a kind, paying customer. Unfortunately, they closed by the time I got my order(40 minutes), so I will cut my losses and pay extra for items that were not included. I will not order from ImJai again in the future. Total cost of beef drunken noodles and incomplete Tom yum with delivery fee and tip: $ 23. No thank you.

I had high hopes for this place given the reviews, but I was disappointed. My stir-fry was greasy and not flavorful. I had ordered«mild» but it was too hot to enjoy. It burned my lips and they keep burning as I write this review. However, there was little flavor other than the hotness. I had ordered steamed tofu but it came with deep fried tofu. Since it was take out I didn’t realize any of this till I was home. Instead of the variety of fresh vegetables I expect from a mixed vegetable stir fry, it came was filled with peas(think frozen peas, not snap peas) and bean sprouts. It seemed like a filler. Had they run out of fresh vegetables? Lastly, my take out order came in a plastic box. Maybe this doesn’t matter to some people, but if you care about BPA and don’t want BPA in your food, you probably don’t want hot food sitting in a plastic container. I will not go back. I could barely eat my food.

We went here looking for Blue Basil and found that it had changed to ImJai. Well, I can tell you that the food is every bit as good as it was before, maybe better. We sat outside with our dog and the service was absolutely great. The hostess even brought out a water bowl without being asked for the dog. We ordered the Thai sausage for an appetizer and it was fabulous. Our main was beef with green curry stir fried with vegetables. We ordered it hot and it came out just the way we like it. That is a good start because so often it is hard to get a well spiced dish in Portland. I will go back to try more of their dishes soon and I would recommend that you do the same.

They are so GOOD! They always get our order correct and listen to how spicy we like it AND they are so kind and welcoming. Plus, one time we went there on thanksgiving and they gave us complimentary Thai coconut milk papaya desert and were completely wonderful and our order tonight was on point and very delicious and the also gave us complimentary Thai custard!!! They even went so far as to write the ingredient of the custard on the box!!!

We were blown away by this little restaurant right off of Belmont! I’d never heard of it or seen it before but it was delicious. We both got a special Pumpkin Curry with Pork, a couple beers, a glass of wine and pot stickers. The Curry was the stand out, perfect texture, mix of flavors, and the pumpkin was really velvety and smooth; everything about that dish was great! I’m surprised it wasn’t packed!(Don’t anybody get any ideas ;)) I’d recommend this place to anybody looking for great Thai food and a nice atmosphere. Also right off of the bus line which is a plus!

I opened a Unilocal account just to say, «This is a restaurant deserving of 5 stars!» It’s probably one of the only restaunts I would give a perfect rating to. Maybe the only! The food is out of this world and meets all my diet restrictions. I found the place about 3 months ago and can’t quit! Best thai food in the city and very friendly staff! It’s so good I drive from Milwaukie. I usually go with the curries, but their peanut sauce is something special too. Try it. You will not be dissappointed!

I’m infatuated with this little Thai restaurant. The food is great from the vegetable yellow curry, eggplant pumpkin and tofu stir fry, and tom kah we got the first time around to the pork skewer appetizer, salad rolls, and the specials I’ve had on subsequent visits everything has been amazing. It’s tasty, vibrant, fresh, and while they have your standard pad Thai, their specials really shine. The ambiance is warm, and the staff is welcoming and gracious. Every time I dine in they give me a taste of some new dessert and I’m always wishing I could have a vat of it.

Super fast delivery! WOW! They told me 30min which I thought was fast, they showed up in 20 or less. The food was the perfect amount of spice. I got the roasted duck curry, which is the best I’ve had since Ta Ra Rin in Eugene(and that place is damn good). I like PaaDee but they don’t deliver! So, I’m glad o tried something new! I’ll. definitely be ordering through these guys again soon! Looking forward to trying what else they have. Thanks guys! Yum!

Worst experience ever. My son accidentally knocked over a plant near the bathroom. I asked for a broom, swept up the dirt, being the friendly apologetic Dad. When my son grabbed the miniature decorative bike that was sitting near the area where we were sweeping up, we were dressed down and yelled out by what I’m guessing is the hostess. A family watching the ordeal said the plant was in a bad spot, and the bike tempting to anyone under 6. Worst experience ever. It would have been one thing if my son was unsupervised, out of control or disturbing others. My wife was in tears and we immediately left. Shocked at how we were treated.

Pad Kee Mao tasted as if it was hanging out in the sauce for far too long. The texture was a bit hard and the very short wait time made me suspicious of the freshness of their dishes. They do delivery, so I might order from them for that. Besides that, not the best thai food, not the worst.
