This is my first review. Okay I have been coming here for years since the owners before the ones that are there now the new owners are always rude. They have seen me so many times but still treat me like they don’t know me. The food is really good because the sauces they use however the portions have became smaller and smaller. I always smile and be respectful I work in customer service so I know how it is and still they treat me and my family like we’re bugging them by giving them business. Today I couldn’t take it anymore so I asked why do they treat us like that, the guy just did a fake smile and looked away simply brushing me off. He didn’t care or apologize, they never care about there customer service. Sorry Ichi 15 lost a loyal customer today. I won’t be coming back here. Go here if you want to wait 30 mins and get horrible customer service. Oh and small portions.

I got the spicy chicken lunch special. The food tasted pretty good but wasn’t really that spicy. Maybe it’s because it was the lunch special(paid $ 6.45) but the portion was really small. When I got back to my office I was disappointed the spicy chicken dish was mostly onions, I counted 9 pieces of chicken, and the rest was onions. I won’t be coming back.

Got the ribs and were pretty good however had to return the first plate because it was raw and I’m pregnant so that’s a big NONO . Paid $ 10.50 for a small portion so this place is ok. Not the best

I used to really like this place. The staff is always friendly and the food was pretty good. However, I’m afraid that this place is going downhill fast, especially with getting what you pay for. I usually order the beef short ribs. I noticed that the quality has gotten worse over the years. Although the price has increased, the portion size has dramatically gotten smaller. I mean WAY smaller than what you pay for. The last time I ordered to-go, and was very disappointed when I got home and opened up my container and saw only a few pieces of short ribs… yes just a few! And most of it was bones! Before that I did notice a decrease in portion size over time, but this was ridiculous! It still tasted good. But I finished my meal after only a few bites. I paid $ 10.50 for a few bites of short ribs. Needless to say I have decided to stop going here. Which is sad.

This is what you get for basically $ 9. When you see the bottom of the to go box, and you paid that amount, there is something wrong here. The portion is tiny and this place is not worth going anymore.

I have yet to find a teriyaki shop that makes a sauce as amazing as this. The staff are always kind and helpful, and frequently recognize me. The portions are perfect for a friend and I to split, and I haven’t been disappointed with anything I’ve tried, though the standard teriyaki chicken is hard to beat. The place is never empty, and rightly so. If you can find it tucked into the Gateway promenade, it’s definitely worth a stop.

Let me start off by saying that I don’t expect the world of an eating establishment. My boyfriend used to eat here often, and stopped because the food quality went south. We decided that maybe it had been long enough and the food would be better. Definitely not. I ordered Yakisoba which was very overcooked and the vegetables were old. The noodles were like mushy spaghetti. I have never seen thick noodles in yakisoba. Nor have I ever had a problem ordering yakisoba from a teriyaki place. After being disappointed in my order, I phoned Ichi, and they informed me I would have to drive back tonight to get a replacement. They acted like they were doing me a huge favor and did not apologize, not once. If I’m a paying customer and have the decency to let you know you can do better, at least have the decency to apologize and make it up. I was being pleasant the whole time, explaining if they were ready to close that I could come back another time. This was an inconvenience for me, because I had no dinner now. Well, he explained I had to bring back my order, and as I walked in I smiled, and the guy at the check stand was glaring at me; no smile back. I mean he was ready to stare a hole into my head. He had a new order, which is why I give them one star. If they had any customer service knowledge, they would smile, giving me my new order. No apology. As I was leaving, he let out a loud«CHHHH!!!» Worst service I have received in all of Portland. Do not eat here. If something is wrong with your food, they want you to believe it’s your fault.

Byfar one of the worst teriyaki shops I have ever eaten at… The only thing that was«decent» was the teriyaki on my bento however the tempura, california rolls and rice was the lowest quality I have experience in Portland so far. * The rice tasted like instant rice * California roll filling was dry like it was a few days old * Tempura batter tasted off and very dry

Limited menu selection. Tempura shrimp was actually fried shrimp, undercooked, doughy, and probably heated from frozen. Doughy brocolli tempura. No low sodium soy sauce. Only good thing was the miso. Total waste of money. Go anywhere else.

So good! The spicy vegetable tofu is the best thing on the menu. You can even upgrade to brown rice. Love this place!

Stopped here for the first time after finding out about it here on Unilocal. My friend and I were nearby, so decided to stop in. Service was fast fast fast and very friendly. The chicken teriyaki lunch was very reasonable, and I liked the salad dressing. Our orders were on our table in less than five minutes. My friend got extra salad instead of rice, but hey, I’m a local girl so kept it, but only ate one scoop. So kinda counting carbs! The chicken was juicy and delicious, the rice was like local Hawai’i rice, and though the salad was basically iceberg lettuce, it was fine. The place was busy, but the cook and the server/cashier(who was extremely friendly) kept up with everyone just fine. People were there for eating in as well as take-out. There was a lot of variety on the menu, and based on what we had today, I’d expect the other items to be just as tasty as our were.

This is the closest teriyaki joint to my house, so the fact that I occasionally eat here is more a matter of convenience than real enthusiasm. It’s your run of the mill teriyaki, no surprises or special features. What I’ve had is usually decent, though the quality of both the food and servers can be a little inconsistent. I am a fan of their gyoza, and they offer a pretty large menu. Only complaint is the standard salad with mayo-based dressing instead of steamed veggies — you can get the veggies instead if you ask. Overall, it’s decent but not really somewhere to go out of your way for.

Some people might say, «All Terriyaki chicken places are the same.» Well, to them I say(as Frau Farbissina would): Lies. All LIES!!! Ichi Terriyaki is located in the Gateway promenade right off 102nd and Halsey. This place is definitely full of regulars from around the area, including me. I walked in tonight after a long hiatus away(I’m talking 8 months or longer), and the girl at the front says, «Welcome! It’s been a while since I’ve seen you!» Wow– the memory on her! But the food, oh drool, the food– heavenly. Hands down one of the best chicken terriyaki dishes I’ve had. The portions are huge, with LOTS of perfectly marinated chicken and extra sauces(for you saucy types), and a side salad which is a perfect compliment to the dish. 4.5 stars for the only terriyaki joint in town that remembers my face after almost a year.

Brand new business in the Gateway shopping area. Their slogan is: «The best teriyaki in town»… Red flag right there… lols I ordered number C2 and it was actually not bad. Rice, terriyaki chicken and beef, side salads and 6 Gyozas. The beef was on the chewy side. Salad and gyozas were good. The chicken was my favorite because they were juicy and wasn’t over-cooked. Most of teriyaki places are over-cooked their chicken and I don’t like that. It’s unhealthy to begin with and not to mention the meat would be dried. This place would get the 4th star if: — The service was better. I mean after placing the order, I was completely«invisible»… get it? — The sauce was better. Since this is a teriyaki place so I score heavily on the sauce. And it was just a regular sauce like most places. It wasn’t something that you’d be drooling over
