Muchas Gracias

My husband and I got the breakfast burritos. They were just OK. the eggs are scrambled into tiny pieces and you can’t really get a good taste of them, the bacon was pretty good, but there was an overwhelming amount of potatoes. It’s really close to being a great breakfast burrito, but just not quite there.

The food is decent, it hits the spot for Mexican fast food. You have to watch them though. The lady that rang me the last few times will automatically make my order a combo even when I tell her multiple times, I just want the burrito. This time I told her after she handed the food to me, «I only wanted a burrito, not a combo.» Blank stare.

I had gone a few times to Muchas Gracias over ten years ago, but I stopped going because there were other taquerias in the area I liked better. Today, I tried them again and came away just as underwhelmed as before. I ordered a carnitas taco and a chicken taco. They were both generally flavorless. The only good thing I could see was that the meat was grilled and nicely browned. (I like it when carnitas gets some time on the grill.. .there are some other places where carnitas comes out wet like stew meat.) Also, there were a couple of things they lacked that were disappointing. They didn’t have al pastor pork (my favorite) on their menu, and they didn’t even have lime wedges so I could squeeze some lime juice on my food. Oh well, I gave them a try.

This place is decent. Coming from San Diego I haven’t found anything to match the food we have down there. But anyways, the service is fast though. They are a little over priced for how much they give you. Usually Mexican restaurants give you more then what you pay for. Their burritos are tiny, even after you pay 4 extra dollars for double meat. But the cooks are nice. And the rolled tacos are good.

Over charged me for a horchata, says $ 3 on the board, they charged my card 8 freakin dollars, very frustrating, my boyfriend was not happy at all!

When you have so many good Mexican restaurants in the city it’s hard to come to one knowing you’ll get amazing at another. But, with that being said this place was convenient for the task at hand.
We called in our order: Hi, can we have two carne asada chips. One With everything (add extra cheese and meat) one with Only cheese and meat, and two steak quesadillas (thank you)!
Our food was ready within 10 minutes, it was hot, okay taste and satisfied the craving for the most part. I wish I would of just drove to Javier’s though because that’s what I wanted!
Their steak had a lot of fat in it and I kept picking through my food to remove it because I don’t like the texture in my mouth.
I suppose in this situation it’s To Each His Own because they’re better than Don Pedro’s but that isn’t saying much.

Decent fast food style Mexi-​slop. Great for late night drunks and gueros who don’t know any better. Taquitos are a solid go-​to for a quick lunch. They have a salsa bar that they keep clean and well stocked. They also have bottle Jarritos sodas and even cervezas to quench your thirst. Nothing fancy or jaw dropping. Just the basics. A step above Taco Bell and absolutely better than any Don Pedro’s.

The service there is really good and fast. The workers are nice and they are welcoming. I always go to Muchas for my midnight craving after work. I usually get the two hard taco with chicken, rice and beans. It’s good and fills you up! Great fast food place to get decent Mexican food.

The food is nothing special but they have a 5.99 combo and a bean and cheese burrito for a dollar so they get 4 stars. I also applaud them on having a salsa bar with pickled vegetables plus refills on sodas.

I will admit, I have been to Muchas Gracias a number of times but I only consider them to be a place for a quick cheap eat. They are definitely not one of the best places in Portland.
One of the things I do like is they have Flan and Horchata which some others joints do not and I think the could get an extra star from me if they better about getting orders right which they seem to fail at every few visits and also using premium ingredients would position them better to compete with other restaurants.
All and all Muchas Gracias is a great place to stop for a quick bite if you are doing some late evening shopping and do not have time to cook before you head out.

Great place for kid meals! Decent size kid burrito and rice/​beans for $ 3.49 cant be beat. My 12 yr old was satisfied with it and he can eat! I had chickend burrito and for) $ 4.89 i was happy with amount of food.
They have a few $ 1.00 items and i will try the taco mext time. The chicken was nicely seasoned but there could be more beans and rice on the plate.

Would give NO stars if I could. Came here only because of coupon on back of Safeway receipt. It said combo with drink $ 5.99. Well how misleading when that is the everyday regular price for their combo of the day.
This bait and disappointment will ensure I never spend my money at this restaurant! Shame on them for making it look like the coupon would save even a fraction of a dollar.

I will admit, I go here quite a bit. This restaurant is located very close to where I work, the food is descent, cheap and the service is very quick. If I could, I’d give this place a 2 and a half star rating, but for how much I have found the food enjoyable, they don’t deserve a 2 for me.
I try to stay away from the Fast Food chains and when I eat at Muchas, I feel that I’m at least eating real food, and somewhat healthy food (at least a REAL serving of proportional proteins, carbs and fats.) Not sure if I’d consider this «authentic Mexican food» but it’s definitely a step up from Taco Bell.
That being said, I enjoy the food here. Items are either hit or miss. I really enjoy the Oregon burrito which is loaded with fried potatoes, but I did not enjoy the Conga Burrito I had today (steak, beans, rice, enchilada sauce). The fish items are good here as well. Always grab a couple sides of their spicy hot sauce, it’s very flavorful. They use cheap quality ingredients, and the beans are sometimes, well… gray. The food is never great, but it is fair and like I said it gets the job done.
The customer service here is great and the cashiers are always patient in explaining what the items are to you, though, I don’t understand why they don’t have explanations up on the menu.
If I had more time during my lunch break, I’d definitely eat elsewhere, but this place delivers what I need. Fast, convenient, fits my nutrition goals and tastes descent.

This is my family’s Mexican go-​to when we don’t want to cook and don’t want something like Taco Bell.
The staff are very nice and the food comes out fast. We’ve always enjoyed the food we’ve ordered and it’s a really great price

This is the only Muchas Gracias location I’d probably want to eat in. It’s located in a failed Rubio’s, which is a shame because Rubio’s is an excellent Mexican chain from California. It appears the franchisee just wasn’t able to make it at Gateway.
This location of Muchas Gracias has a TV tuned to Univision so you’ll never miss your telenovelas or «Sabado Gigante» but that’s the major atmospheric touch. The location does seem to care a bit about upkeep as the restrooms are clean and as free from vandalism as one might expect at Gateway and the fish tank appears clean and cared for. The salsa bar area also is kept clean and well stocked.
Now, on to the food. The carne asada chips (or nachos as you know them and the order taker barks back to the «cocina») are well put together but could use a bit more pico de gallo. Adding a bit more salsa verde is a nice enhancement.
On the last visit, I also tried their vegetarian burrito on a whole wheat tortilla with whole pinto beans and it wasn’t too shabby. I’d consider eating it again.
I’ve never been (or felt) ill after eating here. Also, it would appear that this location is popular with «gringos» and Hispanic Americans alike.
This location has no drive through, you must walk up to the counter to order. There are also outdoor tables that seat 2 – 3 people.

Good cheap Mexican food. It might not be upscale but its a great place for a quick inexpensive meal for the family and will cost you about the same as a fast food joint. They even have $ 1 burritos that are good and filling!
A must try if you are in the area :)

NOT a fan of my last experience here. I usually don’t mind it here and the food is alright. The food is not fantastic, but it’s typically a cheap/​quick dinner that’s nearby.
Anyway, the Saturday night a friend and I had been hanging out and wanted to grab a snack, but it was getting late. Since she is underage, I wasn’t going to take her into a bar for happy hour and hope that they wouldn’t ID her since we just wanted some food. I made the stupid decision to come here.
The girl at the counter wasn’t anyone that I’ve seen there before. When she saw us walk in, she looked like a deer in headlights at first. She came to the front and stood there looking very anxious. We JUST walked in. I wasn’t ready to order yet (I typically go for dinner/​a full meal, not just a late night snack) and neither was my friend. But since I was feeling rushed by this girl, I ordered rolled tacos. I didn’t get a chance to read all the random pieces of paper they tacked on to the bottom of their menu or look at all the posters hanging up around since that’s how they update their menu. She asked what kind of meat I wanted, and I said, «Can you do ground beef?» When I walked in, I had seen a huge poster for ground beef, so I didn’t know I was going to offend this girl. She litterally scoffed at me. And then half laughing at me, she replied, «We don’t go those in ground beef.» I understand that they don’t do it in ground beef, that’s fine. But to laugh at me like I said something outrageous? That’s a little rude. Sorry I don’t know Muchas Gracias like the back of my hand, girl at counter. And then while she just stared at me, I actually had to ask, «What does it come in then?»
My friend goes next after I finished my order. She has food allergies, so she asked about a few different things, and this girl was STILL rude and offended we didn’t know the menu better. If your menu says, «chicken burrito» and nothing else, I don’t think it’s that crazy for someone to ask what all is IN said burrito. But friend gets a plain cheese quesadilla because the girl couldn’t figure out what was in a chicken quesadilla… There’s a HUGE poster next to the counter that says they’re $ 1.00. It’s a freakin’ HUGE poster for a DOLLAR MENU.
We get our food and my friend sits down and looks at her reciept, the back at the menu. She says, «Wtf? I paid $ 3 something.» So she goes back up with her food and says, «Shouldn’t this be a dollar?» The girl says in a snappy reply, «You should’ve said you wanted the dollar one.» And then the girl turns away and goes back into the kitchen.
SERIOUSLY?
I was excited that when we moved we were closer to this Muchas Gracias. Now? Not so excited. I don’t know what this girl’s problem was, but I hope she doesn’t keep her job that much longer and it goes back to the other girl that’s soft spoken, yet polite. Again, the food is not the best, but ok… But I’d prefer awful food with great service over dealing with that girl again. She’s lucky I didn’t judge HER on not knowing things other than that menu, because I’m sure there would’ve been A LOT of scoffing and chuckles on my end.

This is not food. In the words of a famous blogger who once described the experience of eating fermented rotting shark in Iceland — «it tastes like crying. It tastes like the Predator barged into a Care Bears movie and ate them all.»
If the first two bites aren’t instantly an indication that you are about to get a food borne illness, my only question is, What the heck do you eat on the regular? Cat food?

I am probably Muchas Gracias’ number one fan for its delicious fast food style Mexican food, über cheap prices, and 24 hour service. Honestly, Portland could use a few more 24 hour joints and it can surely start with
the opening of more Muchas Gracias locations.
This particular place is hidden behind Carl’s Jr and is not easily visible from NE 102^nd heading north. Be very careful when turning into the parking late at night, there is a median that most people cannot see at night (Thanks City of Portland) and this can result in some cars getting dinged up big time, especially when no one else is around.
I like this location because its spacious and the service is quick. They also have decent bathrooms, which could be useful for the excessive consumption of any of their bean burritos. Minus one star for the lack of a drive through window. I will be here after 2AM, guaranteed with a craving for any style of their tacos and my favorite Carnitas burrito. Combine that with a large, diabetes inducing Horchata drink and I am in Muchas Gracias heaven.
