From scratch cooking and generous portions especially on the Fiery Clambake that featured huge clams on the shell. We ordered extra bread just to mop up the rich broth. The tomato basil soup was heavy on the basil in a good way and the fish & chips were fried light with from scratch ketchup. Capped off with excellent Oregon cobbler. This was a total and pleasant surprise in our Hilton hotel lobby after wandering around downtown Portland and arguing as a family about where to go. The crowd was pleased at last!

Attractive and conveniently located in the lobby of the Portland Hilton. Decent waiting time for food, a bit pricey breakfast, friendly service. The breakfast menu was a bit strange for our tastes, the corned beef hash tasted like plain corned beef straight out of the can. Next time we’re in Portland, we will be having breakfast elsewhere.

The concept and idea is good. But they had trouble handling our party of 12 on a Saturday night when they were almost empty at 7pm. Interesting drinks, mediocre food. Hamburger was tasty, but bun was not warm, stale and burger was too small for it. A lot of empty bites! French fries were barely warm when served. Had to get our own table service. $ 55 for 2 burgers and two cocktails was way too much. The rest of our party thought the same. Was pouring out, or we would not have tried the place. Too casual for the price… and needs more care in the food. Waitress was friendly and pleasant.

Wouldn’t go out of my way to stop here, but if you’re at the Hilton it’s a convenient place to either start or end your night. They have generous selection of beer and the price point but wasn’t too outrageous.

We used the«fast food» market section of Hopcity, ordering breakfast from the counter. The hot oatmeal comes with cranberries and brown sugar(if you want it) and the large portion was very good. You can take out or use one of a half dozen tables.

My wife and I went in for a late dinner. No one was present to seat you so after several minutes we sat ourselves. We saw several of the waitstaff but no one stopped to give us menues, water, or place settings. After 10 minutes i went to the bar and picked up 2 menues, a waitstaff person handed me 2 place settings, I picked up 2 glasses for water, he pointed to the water pitcher. When he saw my hands were full he offered to carry the water pitcher to the table. 15 minutes later still no one stopped to answer any questions or offer to take our order. A group of about 8 men were posing with one of the waiters for a picture, one of the men began to yell«Suck my F****** D***» No one came over to their table to get it under control, the waiter was having a great time. It was allowed to continue. My wife and I left at that point. Does Groupon give refunds? Well the Hilton has failed on their new pub or whatever it is.

Yes! As a diamond Hilton member, I eat at a lot of restaurants within Hilton. I have a NEW favorite… Hopcity has done it as I’m just finishing up my appetizer. My fiancé and I enjoyed the lovely selection of Oregon Pinot Noir wines along with the 5 beer micro brewery sampler. The smoked trout was so fresh and flavorful along with the shrimp n’grits which was a-plus. The service was by Christina was some of the best we’ve ever had-5 star. We felt like we were at home and could have and do whatever we wanted. We enjoyed the first NFL game of the year and finally made it to our entrees. The fish and chips are from a local cod and the tartar sauce and light breading were on point. We got a side of fresh succotash that was flavorful and juicy. Finally, my fiancé got herself the halibut which was succulent and tasted like it was caught off the coast of Alaska earlier in the day. Great food, great service, and great night.

Looks to be a nice place to socialize and have some beers and snacks for happy hour. Hopcity is located inside the main Downtown Hilton Portland and across the street from the Hilton Executive Tower. I met some colleagues for breakfast and as a Diamond member of the Honors program, I also had a certificate good for a continental breakfast. They apply around $ 16 towards the hot buffet or something off the menu. The first day, I had an Everything Bagel with Lox and the trimmings. Very nice portion. Coffee was hot and plentiful. The second day, I ordered the Crab Omelette. I was told they ran out of crab so I ended up ordering the Lox again. Then the waitress came over to inform me a shipment of crabmeat just arrived and she’d be able to change my order back to the omelette. She brought over my omelette which was spinach, bacon and cheese, but not crab. I hate sending back food, but the waitress insisted they get it right. Finally the crab omelette came and was worth the wait. Unfortunately, our breakfast lasted over 90 minutes. The waitress was nice and I felt bad since it wasn’t her fault.

Really enjoyed the shrimp and grits. The Big Board had bacon wrapped dates that were spectacular. The chef really knows what he is doing. Excellent food for a reasonable price.

Terrible service at the bar. The lady serviced two guys who got the after me, ran around the bar a couple of times, and also cleaned up a few empty spots before she ever came to say hi or offer me any help. Food here is pretty good. Got the flank steak, cooked perfectly at medium rare. My only beef is that the entire plate was drenched in butter.

Thinking that the food will be mediocre being a hotel restaurant… boy was i wrong. We came here for a dessert and we waited to be served for little longer than normally. But our sweet wonderful waitress Cherice made our evening so beautiful after she got us going. So, the next day we went to have a lunch and had a new York steak& shrimp salad… oh my gosh, the new York strip steak is amazing and cooked in perfection.

Blown away! Thanks for making it up to us… after our last experience, the Hilton invited us back for dinner. They have turned everything around and what a different a few months make. We started with the«Big Board» which is salami & ham, steelhead rillette, cheese, fruit, dried fruit apple rosemary mostarda, pickled vegetables, olives, and spicy almonds. This plate would be perfect to come in and order with a few glasses of wine and a friend or two. We also tried the Dungeness Crab Bisque which was pretty amazing. For dinner my husband got the fish and chips which seemed small but tasty. I got the fish which was trout stuffed with artichoke and a side of amazing risotto. I cleaned the plate seriously — it was all amazing. We were running a touch late for our show across the street but oh no… The lovely ladies boxed up our stuff and kept it for us so we could rush off and come back for desert. We did just that! How wonderful that was. The service just continued to be perfection for desert. My husband tried their fried donut bread pudding which was awesome. I got the three berry cobbler which I think would have been much better with far less fruit compote and more topping — it seemed very«off» and the topping to cobbler ratio but the amazing caramel ice cream on top was a meal in and of itself. I even got my hot chocolate and whipped cream action on.

Best food I have had at a hotel, waitstaff is not good and seems like they don’t care at all. The food was really great and fresh, makes me excited to come back for another meal.

First of all the food is where it’s at here. There is an open kitchen and you can see the chefs cooking the food. I ordered that Mac n cheese and my boyfriend ordered the hop city burger. They were both amazing. You can taste the love and the seasoning in the food! Which doesn’t happen anymore. The only down side is the waitstaff. They are slow and don’t pay much attention. I saw your food in the window for 5 minutes before we got it. Other than that, the food and bar are one of the best in town

Totally above average for a hotel bar! Hop City is a new addition to the Hilton Downtown and it’s almost cool enough to attract even the non-tourist, non-hotel guest. It’s big, open, gleaming black & white with a retro diner meets modern tavern feel. This will by no means be the best food you have in Portland, but if you’re feeling lazy and hungry and don’t want to leave the hotel, Hop City is not a bad place to end up. I sat at the big U-shaped bar and ordered a red wine flight, chopped salad, and chatted with folks from the comic book convention while watching the Warriors game. Something about the bar spilling out onto the hotel lobby makes it feel like a happening social gathering place. And since it’s a hotel restaurant, you don’t have to feel weird for eating/drinking alone! Prices are a bit higher than non-hotel spots, naturally, but I’ve seen a lot worse. Hop City is alright by me!

I had made confirmed reservations through Open Table for dinner last night at HopCity Tavern. When we arrived, we found the restaurant closed due to construction in the Hilton Hotel lobby, where it is located. The concierge told us that the restaurant had been given many hours advance notice of the closure, but the manager did not have the courtesy to contact us to cancel the reservation. Unfortunately, we had driven downtown and parked in expensive garage parking. The concierge was nice and made reservations at another restaurant for us on the other side of town. However, we had already paid for parking, it cost us time, and put us all in a bad mood. I always make a point of canceling a reservation immediately upon finding out that I cannot honor it, and I am shocked that a restaurant in an expensive hotel in downtown Portland would not show the same courtesy to its customers. It is not a good sign as to the amount of respect the restaurant would show its customers if they actually were able to dine there.

I was somewhat surprised at how good the food was at Hop City Tavern. Located at the lobby level of the Hilton Executive Tower, it is conveniently located especially for those patrons staying at the Hilton. I wish I had stopped here for Portland’s restaurant month as their contemporary American fare was delicious. I ordered the arugula salad which was perfectly tossed in with their house vinaigrette. Then, I had their crab pot pie with another kale incarnation braised with pancetta. The portion for the crab pot pie was perfect. I loved how perfect the crust came out for the pot pie. Not only was the food good, my waiter was especially considerate and attentive about the food and presentation of the food. I also noticed that every time I would walk past the bar on the way to my room at the Hilton Executive Tower, the bar was quite lively. I would definitely want to stop Hop City again the next time I am in Portland.
