Finger Bang

My nails were visibly bumpy and uneven after my gel (shellac) manicure. I didn’t say anything because the girl who did my nails was nice and I didn’t want her to feel bad. Then, unfortunately, my gel manicure began peeling after a few days and was completely falling off after a week. I get these manicures done regularly elsewhere and they typically last 2 – 3 weeks without peeling. I thought I would try and new place but for $ 30 a pop, I won’t be going back after this.

This place, and everything about it is top-​notch! I come in every three weeks for an acrylic fill and each visit is better than the last.
GG is my «go to girl» and provides a personal experience each time. She’s a master of her craft with her nail art and never disappoints giving me a custom look.
If you’re reading Unilocal reviews to see if you want to book, just stop now and do it already.

I was honestly a little disappointed after finally finding time to see what all the hype is all about.
I have seen some AMAZING nails that got done at Fingerbang but mine were rather lame and disappointing. It seemed like the girl that did my nails was lacking inspiration (I got the mystery manicure).
Also the foil she used started peeling off after 3 days!
The place itself seems great with complimentary beer/​champagne/​water and friendly staff. Maybe I just picked the wrong person to do my nails. The girl next to me was also getting a mystery manicure and her nail technician seemed to know what she was doing and was doing a much better job.

This is for PEDICURES only, the manicures there look amazing. I’ve been to FingerBang twice now for pedicures and don’t see myself returning. 4 days after my pedi, one big toe had nearly all of the polish chipped off and the other was starting to go. I haven’t been running around barefoot or soaking in hot tubs, no reason for my feet to look this trashed already. The massage was weak, definitely not worth the upgrade from classic to deluxe. Salt scrubs are great unless you just shaved your legs, especially when it’s winter and you haven’t done so in a while and you realize last minute you look like a yeti and are going to have someone rubbing your legs… then maybe sugar would be less painful. For $ 45 most places will also do a mask and paraffin dip.
Pros: nice people, nice atmosphere, good massage chairs, manis look killer
Cons: you can get a far better pedi for far less $ at most other places in town

I made an appointment online, arrived 5 minutes early just to find out that the woman who was supposed to do my art was taking off for lunch and that someone was «graciously» stepping in for her. As if she was doing me a favor. I ordered a manicure and nail art, but there was no cleaning of cuticles or filing or nail clipping involved. Just went straight to paint. Oh, and when I asked if they could do a certain basic paint job that was on their Instagram, the girl said «I don’t know how to do that.» Just an all around disappointment. And you have to realize, I so wanted to like this place. It’s close to where I live and I appreciate the late hours. But never again.

What a great place to get your nails done. The technician I sat with was kind, personable, and artistic. She seemed to have fun doing my nails but made sure I liked what she suggested. My nails turned out wonderful, and were only 40 dollars. I was so surprised they were that price with the amount of detail and thought was put into them. Make sure to tip!
I will post an update to say how long my nails lasted.

I had been tipped off to try Finger Bang over the summer and made my appointment in December which was fine– the salon was quiet, the parking sucks, and the appointments tend to go over. My follow up appointment was today and based on what I experienced, I will NEVER be visiting this nail salon again nor will I suggest anyone ever visit here. The staff is full of talented friendly ladies, the problem is with the owner who is a brash tattooed Rosanne Barr. My first visit there the owner wasn’t in, which is probably why my first experience had been positive.
This time the extremely loud, obnoxious owner would yell into her phone so everyone could hear her conversation, she loudly announced the televisions in the salon would be playing soft-​core porn. my nail tech was running over on our appointment, which I get-​frustrating, however she started our appointment late as she was finishing, the owner came over berated her for going over, flustering the nail tech and nearly making the girl cry.
nope. never again. the parking sucks, the owner is a piece of work. PS if you’re friends with the owner, and you’re the dude whose a florist whose boyfriend is out of the country on Tindr, every single person in the salon knows.

Awesome place! So fun and actually women you can talk to that don’t speak about you in front of you in another language! Gasp! No talented Asian women? In this case it’s totally ok!
These ladies are actually amaze balls and have serious talent. I can’t even!
I could never make these amazing designs or be patient enough to attempt. However, they are up for the challenge! Absolutely worth the extra few dollars for sweet designs.
This was a very fun place to treat yourself and is definitely a place I can see myself returning for a fun treat.
I recommend asking for Sarah or Katrina, they are incredibly talented. Katrina specializing in geometric work and Sarah a bit of everything.
Update: I will say that after a week a few of my nails chipped. It’s still a fun commodity.

This was my first time I’ve had the luxury of enjoying a pedicure! I was amongst a close group of friends celebrating a birthday. The layout and feel of Fingerbang will definitely draw you in and the attentive and you going customer service will keep you coming back. I was greeted by the Glynis, the hardworking and talented business women. All questions were answered promptly by her and her staff. My first pedicure was amazing and well worth the $$ spent. My feet look like I can walk on water, no joke!
I plan to return and pamper my paws again.

The saga continues!
So, I went back because the owner insisted, and I’m easily swayed. And I’m really glad I did. Sarah Kane is fabulous and easy to talk to, there was an awesome dog, and my nails look great. Hopefully it stays this way because I really enjoyed myself. Finger Bang is definitely a «cool» business and sometimes «hip» and «cool» places can struggle with appearing customer service oriented (think bad service at a dive bar). But service is always a must with nails and this time the service was on point. Not just with me, but with other interactions too.
Glad it worked out. :-)

What? They’re not Vietnamese nail ladies that make fun of you behind your back? What? they’re open until 12 midnight? What? They take crazy design requests and know how to execute them? What? They fill up your complimentary mimosas? Alright enough whats! It’s time to book an appointment here asap and find out what everyone’s raving about! Better call quick because they’re busiest appointments are the late nights catering to industry workers and moms. The vibe here is cool and friendly it’s like if a whole bunch of friends decided to run a nail salon! I think it’s just tons of fun while being pampered at the same time!
Bonus: go early and get a cocktail from the bar that’s in the same building! There are some crazy concoctions!
Gripe: parking is a very sad situation.

I am so very in love with this entire establishment. The owner is basically a badass goddess. All of the employees I interacted with were lovely and knowledgeable and plain fun, and they boozed me up while I waited (briefly) for my appointment. The atmosphere is very laid back but still professional enough that they get the job done.
I had the pleasure of getting my nails done (cut, shaped, and painted) by Sara, and she was a DOLL. I loved how my nails turned out, and the stay power of the gel is incredibly impressive.
Also, I’d like to point out that everyone who worked there looked amazingly well put together, and that’s something I really look for and appreciate in a salon setting. So, yeah. I think everyone involved is fantastic, and I am counting down the days until I go back. I can’t recommend Finger Bang enough. If you live in Portland and knowingly choose to go anywhere else for your aesthetic needs, I feel sorry for you.

Heard great things about this place so came to give it a try.
Before coming I called (message said they were with clients) and also checked the website and Unilocal.
All signs pointed to them being open until midnight today.
Trekked here in the pouring rain at 6pm only to get to the front door and find them closed
Really wish they would have said somewhere that they decided to close today!
I’ll definitely give them a try another time but won’t venture here without an appointment or having actually had someone answer the phone!

A welcoming place for weirdos and straight-​laced folks alike– whether you’re a diva or a wallflower, absolutely anyone can relax in a cozy chair and be whisked away to a land where all that matters is making you damn glamorous.
As a person unaccustomed to manicures, I expected this place to be a little intimidating. But despite my simple needs, I was given the attention of a beauty queen, and before I knew it I was back for a gel mani, and then again for a full fancy pedicure. I’m hooked.
Finger Bang manages to combine high sanitation standards with a carefree environment. They offer quality products with a quirky crew of passionate artists who are ready to laugh with you as you recount that time (yesterday) you drank half a bottle of whiskey and lost your underwear before somehow falling out of a tree. There is no judgement at Finger Bang; only people you want to hang out with later.
They already have a cult-​like following, which they have earned by recruiting the best local talent in the industry. Have you even seen Asa’s work? It’s legendary. Go look at the Finger Bang Instagram feed if you have any doubts.
The work is amazing. The staff is friendly. The prices are reasonable. They are making the world a beautiful place, one hand job at a time.
Everyone is welcome here. I’ve never felt so comfortable getting nailed in public.

As a lifelong fan of finger banging, I feel qualified in recommending Glynis Olson’s new bad ass shop for all of your nail and waxing needs.
My feet — normally (and thankfully) hidden behind a thick pair of cowboy boots — are all polished and sexy and soft as a pig’s belly. I chose a color that says «I have a vagina but I’ll still slice your throat», and my nail technician assured me I upped my intimidation game to a level usually reserved for the bartenders at Holoscene.
PRO TIP: Beware the lower body massage setting on the massage chairs — the massage balls go straight for the money shot and are as relentless as that human you regret taking home last weekend.

I am in LOVE with this place!!! By far my favorite nail salon I’ve ever been to. First of all, Glynnis and her staff are so welcoming, bubbly and funny. This is not the regular nail salon on every corner folks– expect some crude humor, lots of F bombs and the best TMI conversations with your nail tech you’ll ever have. But that’s what I love about this place. The ladies have 0 filter, and frankly don’t give a f*ck. Julia was an absolute doll and took great care of my friend and I. Bravo ladies, you’ve launched an amazing business! I can’t wait to come back!

I just got back from here. This place is badass. I know today was the first day of being open and they were only taking walk-​ins. But I fortunately made an appointment before the owner decided to do just walks ins. I say this because before I left there, there prolly was a waiting list to the moon.
The owner was there and she was awesome. I even got a mimosa while getting my nails done!
My manicurist was Sara. And I was not dissapointed. First of all, she’s totally my type of chick. Funny, outgoing, sarcastic, and an absolute pro at what she does.
This place is going to do juuust fine! Parking was tricky though.

This place feels like my very own Cheers, where everyone knows your name. I have bounced around from nail salon to nail salon for years and wasn’t able to find a place I really liked. That all changed when I found Finger Bang Pdx.
From the design, to the atmosphere, the music and the amazing customer service I can’t say enough good things about this place. My nails were done by the amazing Asa who is incredibly talented and friendly. She took her time and made sure that they were absolutely perfect.
The owner Glinys (sorry if I am misspelling that) is an absolute gem as well and made me and my roommate feel so extremely welcome. I feel like I have finally found the perfect nail salon that fits my personality and I can’t wait to go back.

This place is incredible. I had followed them before they opened and saw some of Asa’s work and knew I had to come check this place out. Needless to say, this place is fucking rad.
The space itself is clean, well designed, and comfortable. The stations are perfectly spaced, and even with a full house, never once felt like it was stuffy or too crowded.
I’m a big fan of nail art, and since moving from LA, struggled to find a place that executed on a solid design and experience, so Finger Bang opening and nailing both (see what I did there?) is much appreciated.
Asa took her time and did a beautiful job on my gel full set with my design. The staff is hilarious, knows how to have a good time, and create a good experience, while being themselves. You can always tell when people are happy to be where they are, and that shines through their work. This place creates a space where the staff can enjoy coming in, and patrons like myself enjoy hanging out.
Fuck yeah for this place, and huge thank you to Asa for being rad, and Gylnis (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) for creating a space that was much needed in Portland.
My nails were homeless and bounced around Portland for a while, but it’s clear to say they’ve found their Forever Home.
