The first few times I went here I kinda felt a wierd vibe. But since the fall of Cal’s Pharmacy this is one of my favorite places. Last time i bought a deck from them it took me a while to pick one out but it was a sick one. i also got a home town hero Silas shirt. Great selection of quality skate stuff.

Take this review for what it’s worth — an out-of-towner who had a one-time experience there. I was in Portland to visit one of my best friends and decided to take advantage of the season-end deals and lack of sales tax to purchase my first snowboard and all the equipment that goes with it. I’d gotten the board, the helmet, the boots and the bindings out in the ‘burbs. Only the bag remained. So I started searching. My friend and I liked the Exit Real World Web site and put it on the list of places to look. We went there, took a look around and didn’t see anything that would work.(My board is a 158, and I was looking for something in the 162 – 166 range and padded.) Josh, the guy at the front counter, asked us what we were looking for. Though his store didn’t have anything, he immediately began looking on the Web for something in the area. The guy insisted. He even called two other stores and got the second store to match the price they’d had on a similar bag when they had one in stock. Talk about customer service. This was above and beyond.

This place is dope! A good skate and snow shop with staff who are knowledgable about skateboarding and snowboarding and the equipment and its also good for girls and guys apparel.

If you are a lady who skates or snowboards and are looking for cute gear plus lots of cute clothes, this is the spot. Hmm… that also holds true if you are a dude, but replace«cute» with«rad» or «sweet» or «super duper sweet». As somebody said, parking is terrible. Plan on walking a ways. Unless there’s a sale on the prices can be a bit high, but it is always great to support a local company with great choices. I mean it when I say great — I used to work at a different snowboard shop and Exit’s gear is always bangin’ compared to what we sold.

Last weekend I decided that snowboarding in June would be a good idea, and that I should probably replace the board I bought in high school. Exit had all their boards, boots, and bindings at 40% off so I got a super good deal(a whole new setup for just under $ 400). There wasn’t much of a selection since it’s summertime, but I still had a few choices and they had a pretty big price/quality range. The girl that helped me was awesome. She was incredibly helpful and friendly without being obnoxious. She helped me pick everything, brought out pretty much everything they had in my size for me to choose from, waxed my board, setup my bindings, showed me how to adjust them and everything. And you get free waxing for life when you buy a board.

Exit’s a great place to get snow gear, surf gear, bikinis, havainas, boards… if its outdoor and involves the sun or snow… they pretty much don’t discriminate. They change up their selection seasonally which is great because of the small size store. It also makes for great sales. The staff is really friendly and very helpful about technical stuff, but most are guys and I haven’t ever got too much attention in the women’s clothing area. They were really helpful when I needed a certain item by a certain date for a present. They ordered it no problem and had it there very fast. Parking sucks, no surprise since its on 23rd. Take the streetcar and walk south on 23rd to burnside.
