I’ve sold here several times and they don’t give off a friendly welcoming attitude. Selling takes a very long time. I show up early in the morning when I’m the only one selling. Points off for the buyer who recently didn’t bother taking one of my coats out of the bag to inspect it. She glanced at it inside the bag and then proceeded to stuff unwanted items on it and toss it aside. I prompted her to actually remove it since it was BRAND NEW WITH TAGS from a high end label. She ended up taking it. The items for sale seem nice and I feel bad giving them less stars, maybe I’ve been there on off days. Hopefully they take this as constructive criticism.

This was the first Crossroads Trading Co. I went to in Portland. I took clothes there after moving and realized I didn’t need or have room for a lot of it. They took a lot, and in return, I got money to spend at their store. I could’ve taken cash, but they give you less. So, store credit… YAY! The store is pretty big, and they have a good, organized selection. They keep the nice, super expensive, real name brand items like shoes and handbags behind the counter, and they display the nice, super expensive, real name brand clothes along the walls near the ceiling. I went back (today), because I needed a handbag for my upcoming vacation. I’ve been lugging around diaper bags for almost two years, so I was in desperate need. Luckily, I was lucky! Hehehe. Thank goodness! I found a handbag in the color that I wanted in a brand that I love… at a great price that makes me happy! YAY! Thank you!

I’ve been here many times in the past to both buy and sell. Sure, it’s really a toss up when it comes to selling your stuff, depending on the staffer or if you’re paying enough attention to current trends.
However, since I’ve last been in, probably about six months ago, this place has gone completely down the drain. First, they have a new system to track who is in line for selling. When I went there it told me I had a 15 minute wait and that it would text me. I left and after about 15 minutes returned. No one was manning the sales area and the line of people selling hadn’t moved at all. When I asked if the list was accurate they unapologetically told me, yes, it is up to date and I still had a 15 minutes wait. I left again, killed some time walking around 23^rd and returned. When I came back my name was no longer on the list and when I asked they said, «We called you and you weren’t here so we moved on.» «But I didn’t get a text,» I said. «Oh yeah, sometimes it doesn’t text people. We’ll put your name back in line, wait here.»
I am absolutely flabbergasted why they would use a system that doesn’t work. I sit and wait patiently next to two other women who this exact same thing happened to! Meanwhile, members of the staff are giving me side eye and do not seem to feel bad for wasting everyone’s time at all! All in all by the time I get to sell my things I have probably wasted a total of an hour waiting around for them to call my name. An hour when it was supposed to be fifteen minutes!
I don’t think they’re short staffed because there weren’t that many people working at the time, but it really doesn’t seem hard to have a system that works and staffers who actually stay on task so everyone can be in and out easily. Unbelievable.

I still adore this place, although I am not a fan of them as much. If you’re here to buy, great! You’re in for a treat, but if you’re here to sell, good luck. I bought a leather-​looking jacket (joujou brand?) here for $ 22 just two weeks ago, and it was hanging on their wall so obviously, they were showcasing it. Never used it except to try it on, lost the receipt, didn’t want to be a hassle so I just tried to re-​sell it back to them. Guess what? They say they only buy name brand and not Target brand as they have a lot of those. I don’t know if that particular jacket is Target brand or not, but I bought them from you. Just two weeks has past and now you don’t think it’s name brand enough? Whatever. If you’re selling, call first and ask if they’re accepting the particular brand you have, EVEN if you bought it here. I’ll still shop here but selling? Maybe, but a big maybe.

Just wanted to give 5 stars for service to Lyanna (hopefully I spelled that right). I came in right before a date and she helped me find an outfit. It was pretty fun, and I left a satisfied customer. Thanks Lyanna!

I’ve never gone in before, but my stepdaughter has sold clothes at Crossroads so I was like ok, why not? I was cleaning house and a house guest left a ton of clothes so I bagged up what was in good condition and took it down. 3 garbage bags FULL of clothes and a bag of shoes and I got a grand total of… $ 29. Umm what?! I was shocked to say the least. Nearly everything was brand name and a few formal items. The cashier said «did she go over prices with you? «No, they just told me to come see you.» Her response was «oh, well here’s your $ 29.» I got a better deal trading in ONE textbook! I felt so rushed out and like «don’t ask questions» all in all I’m happy I got SOMETHING for cleaning out the closet, but if I had known the super low price I would get, I never would have «donated» the rest, I would have gone elsewhere.

Best place to trade in clothes that I’ve found. Much better than buffalo exchange. The service here was very polite and they have a system set up if they have a line to call you or text you when your clothes have been evaluated. Plus, they actually buy your clothes unlike buffalo or red light. They bought about half of the things I brought in and buffalo bought none. I’ll shop here way before I ever set food in buffalo or red light again.

You can go 5 – 6 months without finding a single item that fits your style then BAM… a $ 395 BGBG dress for $ 39! I recently bought a dress to wear to my sisters wedding and just weeks later I saw the same exact dress at a BCBG store. Awesome deal! The only downside is that the person who sold it probably made about $ 12.
They do have some really great brands. They have frye boots almost every time I go in. I’ve also seen Marc Jacobs and they have a great selection of designer jeans.

As I store, I adore Crossroads. Their attention to detail, and their consistency in maintaining order and cleanliness is fantastic. Everything is separated by color, and the half-​off rack isn’t full of completely awful clothing. They have a very good selection of clothing, and I typically always find a few things at a time here. I have noticed their prices going up which I’m sure is a product of their increasing popularity, along with being located on 23^rd.
For selling purposes, I hate coming here. I have purchased things here, forgotten about the return policy, then come back to just resell things only to be told that they’re not «in season» or «fashionable.» If that’s the case, why did you sell me the same item last week? I make more money selling from Buffalo Exchange, but that store is a nightmare. Incidentally, if you’re looking to sell, Poshmark is an easier and more profitable option. Unless you’re friends with someone who works here, I feel like they really don’t take much of anything.

Love the concept, and am always stopping at the Crossroads and Buffalo Exchange at any US city I visit. Went there Wednesday, had a search, nothing. That’s fine. But… The sales girl took forever to get to the counter, and was friendly up until she realised I was only collecting my bag. Never have I felt more disregarded as a human, cut off when I try to say «thank you», and planked my bag down and kept walking away, didn’t even slow down.
Sorry I inconvenienced you with my potential future sale.

Visiting from San Francisco, the city of thrift stores, it was nice seeing a cross roads while exploring the town of Portland. THEE THEE THEE CLEANEST Crossroads location I have ever seen considering I lived in LA before San Fran. Dragged my boyfriend in who begrudgingly agreed and ended up finding a nice long sleeve thermal and a beanie in the very organized men’s side. If I had more money definitely would have hit up that jewelry counter. Thanks to Nicole the store manager, and her crew of four I believe that all assisted us at least once while we were in there tonight the 14^th of January. Had some very expensive pieces for an actual thrift store price! Will definitely come back the next time in town!

This place is pretty amazing. We were visiting from LA and we heard about this place from other stores around the area. Their selections are superb compared to other stores from my area (LA). It was surprising to see name brand items at unbeatable prices. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would go here again.

This is a great place for the typical Portlandian, NW23rd, boho person. Definitely a lot of casual clothes, and a few cute sassy dresses for 20-​somethings from cool designers. good selection of jeans — but everything from Target brands on up. pretty good selection for guys too. However this is not somewhere you would go for 5^th Avenue, NYC clubbing, upscale, Ann Taylor, Tahari, Nordstrom, business casual clothing. It is more Hipster than Ladies-​who-​Lunch, or Sex-​in-​the-​City. if you are planning on trying to sell your clothes here, make sure that you take a spin through to make sure you have items that are appropriate.

Awesome place for thrifty shopping. Many times I’ve been here to find great dresses, shorts and designer shirts and bags. Really is a place to find good value for nice clothes at a fraction of the cost.
Place doesn’t stink like some of the other second hand clothing stores.

I went in at random. I was actually looking for a backpack and asked where they might be. There were only two available and one turned out to be basically a brand new Kenneth Cole backpack for only $ 25. Can’t beat that. Especially since I’m guessing a KC backpack probably goes for around $ 80 – 90, maybe more. Nothing like a great find, and I needed it for my flight.
I guess I need to search out consignment shops more often, you never know what you’ll find.

The prettiest white, cut-​out jersey dress caught my eye on a mannequin in the window display that I had to go in and check the place out for myself!
Sadly the dress didn’t fit. And neither did a jacket that caught my eye as well, but the store is filled with a lot of very cute secondhand and consignment articles of clothing for both men and women (though the men’s section isn’t very large). A neat place, and the brand selection here is pretty on point since you’re located in the Alphabet District and a stone’s throw away from the Pearl.

Took stuff here that Buffalo refused, I think Crossroads focuses more on classic/​simple styles vs. super trendy. I have also found some really nice things here (probably due to it’s close location to the wealthier neighborhoods in Portland). They also stock a random assortment of new things.
Notable purchases:
J Crew cashmere sweater $ 17 (it was pilly but I bought a pumice stone and cleaned it right up)
Gerald & Stewart by Fidelity Sportswear wool shirt less than $ 25 made in the USA, I googled the brand and found that the shirt retails in boutique shops
Zara marled cotton sweater (so many compliments on that one)
Northface rain jacket less than $ 25, my partner picked this up when he was visiting and it was on sale for 50% off
One thing I have noticed is that Crossroads is much more hit or miss when it comes to the mens inventory and turnover doesn’t seem to change as rapidly.

Clean, well organize, some good designers and the staff was very helpful.
They were friendly and patient. Will definitely come back when in PDX because of the organized and comfortable atmosphere :)

Closet full of clothing that you never wear? Crossroads offers a solution. Unlike Buffalo Exchange where you’ll end up hauling bags of stuff in and only selling one item, CTC actually purchases things.
Selling is easy and there is usually little wait time, unlike some experiences at Buffalo where I’ve waited 20 – 30 minutes. They offer 50% in trade or 35% in cash. You’ll also need a picture ID to sell here.
As another reviewer mentioned, I’ve had more positive experiences with the employees at this location vs. the SE one. Employees are very friendly here and always willing to help. Generally you don’t have to wait very long for a fitting room either.
I usually end up finding cute things even when I just come in to sell. Good fitting jeans can be difficult to find here (Buffalo wins in that department), but they have lots of other nice things, especially tops.

Betsey Johnson sling backs for $ 8.25…sold! I found a sweet, magenta cashmere sweater for $ 14.00. There are cool bargains to be had here people, you just have to make time to sift through the ugly, crappy stuff.
Besides the resale clothing you’ll find there are a few racks of new items for sale at the front of the store.
Men and women, can bring your clothes in to sell or trade. The men’s section is small in comparison to the women’s section.
Like all resale type shops, it’s going to be hit or miss when it comes to finding something awesome. The search for awesomeness would be greatly helped if they would ease up on buying the ugly, homely stuff.
How some of that stuff on the racks makes it past a buyer is a true mystery.
