I love breakfast. I went here for a business meeting with a group of 12 and happy they chose this place… because I love breakfast and this place is a GOOD breakfast joint. It is not your generic breakfast place(I originally had thought that) and they do everything fresh, and they do everything with huge portions. I had the bacon/eggs — that came with hasbrowns(fresh potatoes my friends) and a big biscuit. Let me just say that I rate breakfast places by their bacon and this place, has fantastic hearty bacon. I looked around at the table to see what other people got and I must say the french toast and pancakes look SO good, I even noticed a german pancake on the menu that I will have to try when I get back up to Portland. The restaurant itself is very clean, the service was great and if you like to gamble — they have a «lottery lounge» in the back with about 5 slots which was pretty darn cool since I have never seen that before!

Sometimes, even in a mecca of amazing, international food options, you need a little homey, coffee-shop style comfort in your life and Elmer’s delivers. It also, I am thrilled to report, delivers German pancakes(or what I have come to know as a Dutch Baby)! My husband and I have been three times in the last two weeks(one dinner, one lunch, one breakfast) and certainly expect to be back. The service was wonderful; quick, friendly and professional. Sometimes that, alone, is worth a good rating! Twice our food came out as ordered and tasty. Once, it did not. I didn’t much care for the prime rib as it was quite a bit under seasoned and my baked potato was severely undercooked. I should note, here, that it was very near closing and while it shouldn’t matter we all know it can and I’d suggest that perhaps I should have been told there were no more baked potatoes rather than try to rush and leave me with undercooked food. I will also note the baked potato was removed from the cost of my meal and THAT, right there… is another reason we WILL be back. Customer service is KEY and in my book, often makes up for a minor misstep. Well done, Elmer’s!

This place was soooooo gooood, it was my last breakfast in Portland, and I wish I had stopped here sooner, the crabacado omelette was excellent, it was stuffed with lumps of crabmeat and avocado and bacon, quite frankly way more crab than I expected, the sauce was really good as well, pancakes were awesome too, try the moisenberry(I’m certain I’m not spelling that right but apparently it’s a big berry in Portland) syrup. It’s very quaint and cozy, I loved the fireplace, there were lots of old people, so don’t expect trendy lol but we tried a lot of restaurants while here, swine, hop city, rogue, the penny diner, china town restaraunts, and this place is definitely up there for taste, I don’t know about the rest of the food here at Elmer’s but the crabacado omelette is a winner

This place is great, for what it is — a casual place to grab a bite to eat. Prices are affordable and while the menu is comparable to a diner and/or iHop type of restaurant — this is definitely a step up in food quality. Fresh ingredients, friendly staff, and great portions make me say — Yay! I’m a fan. We came here for lunch and ordered all different types of salads. I ordered the crab salad and customized it without the bacon and a side order of steamed veggies. They are more than willing to adjust the menu to meet dietary needs and they feature local ingredients. Give this place a shot if you have a group of eaters with different wants/needs. Great for breakfast, lunch, or a casual dinner.

Visiting from out of state and found this great breakfast spot. We have eaten here every morning. The service is great and the environment is friendly. We have tried the German pancake and French toast and loved both. The Dungeness crab Benedict was perfect and my wife loved the chicken fried steak. I normally don’t do reviews but this place is worth the effort in my opinion.

Belle seldom wakes up in time to eat breakfast at a restaurant. Good thing there are places that serve breakfast all day. This Elmer’s is conveniently located right off the highway near the Orgeon/Washington border and PDX, and it gets pretty busy. We were there late in the morning on a weekday. We got seated quickly, but the restaurant was pretty full. Happily, we were among the youngest people there. I declined the offer for the German pancake, because I can’t usually do sweets that early in the morning. I got the Willamette Valley Omlet, which comes with spinach, tomatoes and chicken sausage. My companion got the Northwest skillet, which came with spinach, zucchini, mushrooms and tomatos — no meat with egg substitute. I love veggie omelets, and this was okay. It’s hard to mess up these basic breakfast things. Maybe next time we will try the German pancake since it seems to be one of the most popular items. I am tempted to try the crab omelet too. I’ll let you know how it goes.

The improvement Elmer’s has shown over the last several years is not always evident, but the good is consistently outshining the bad lately. We typically go to Elmer’s when we’re too lazy to research some other new place to go to. For some reason, it gets lumped in with Shari’s &IHOP(never Denny’s, ew), but it doesn’t deserve to be. While the food isn’t elevated to Portland brunch standards, it is far above the larger chains(local or otherwise). This visit introduced me to Mr. Elmer’s omelette. I don’t know if that name is just a marketing ploy or if it really was his creation and/or favorite omelette, but I don’t really care. It was a surprisingly amazing combination of flavors that I have never seen on a menu anywhere else. I’m kind of looking forward to going back and seeing if I can find another hidden gem.

When it comes to an affordable, hearty breakfast you can’t go wrong at Elmer’s. If you’re driving anywhere in Oregon and see one do yourself a favor and choose this place over Denny’s, IHOP or Shari’s. The food is a full grade better at Elmer’s. The service normally is, too. Is Elmer’s going to become your new favorite breakfast spot? Probably not. On the other hand, for breakfast there’s nothing to complain about. This is undoubtedly more flavorful than most chains and a strong average for breakfast. So what should you eat? That’s a tough question. There’s plenty of go-to items on the menu to try, however. One of my favorites is the Looking For the Sun Omelet. This meal, complete with a filling omelet topped with avocado, hash browns and I sub the biscuit with toast is tough to finish there’s so much food. Try ordering it with a hot chocolate, which isn’t watery here and you’ll be happy to did. The Fresh Blueberry Banana Crepes aren’t bad, either. In fact, you’ll be challenging to find anything on the breakfast menu that isn’t fair. The German Pancakes are too big for me, but some folks love all that food. Come for breakfast and you’ll be happy. I can’t vouch for lunch/dinner.

Elmer’s is surprisingly good. There is plenty of parking and the atmosphere is pleasant. They have a long menu filled with all kinds of comfort foods. There are both lots of tables and lots of booths, so you can probably opt for whatever of those you like. Prices are a little high, though the food is fairly good. The menu consists of a long selection of benedicts, sandwiches, pancakes, steak and so on. I walked into the Elmer’s hungry for lunch. Those who I was with are on a diet just for some perspective. I ordered the fish and chips which was $ 11. It came quickly enough. The fish was crispy, battered enough and had the proper maritime feel. The fries were also tender. Also, the coleslaw was not too shabby. The service was good, though for the money, I might recommend trying something a bit more famous or better, but it was a decent meal. Elmer’s is a halfway decent choice for a meal.

I returned even though I had an unpleasant experience during my last visit. this time, I was very specific in what I wanted(i.e. REAL eggs on my Crabvacardo omelette) the serve, Nicole was very nice. Her smile and pleasantries made my morning. My guest ordered an vege omelette… it was very nice too. I will return whenever I am in that area.

Originally wanted to go to Petite Provence or Pine State Biscuits, but the lines were long and over an hour wait. Headed back towards home and found this spot. I remember going to Elmer’s back in the day as a kid. Quite surprised they’re still around. I didn’t know whether to be shocked or amazed that when we entered, two employees were just standing there with menus in hand. Sure you look ready, but it’s kind of in your face as well. Don’t you all have other productive things you can be doing besides standing there? What’s the host’s job? It’s an establishment filled with senior citizens with their spouses and/or their families. My boyfriend and I were the youngest there. I ordered the French Toast and the guy went for the biscuits and gravy. Both were satisfying and each breakfast entrée comes with a lot of food(eggs and meat). I would’ve enjoyed my visit more had our waitress not been in our faces as often as she was. I know she was just being attentive and clearing our table, but I would’ve liked to have been left alone while indulging in my French Toast and not have to discuss how I’m doing with powdered sugar all over my face.

Elmer’s is a place I’ve never cared to go, I would put it in the same category as iHop or Denny’s and call it a wrap. My first time eating from here and I ordered the dungeness crab blt which I wish I hadn’t! Then the next visit(both being take out) we ordered two grilled chicken Caesar salads(they were a little better). My crab blt salad was soggy and unacceptable! How do you use ice burg lettuce with crab? Romaine should’ve been with this dish for textural purposes and because it makes since! Our grilled Caesar salads were crisp but, you could taste the mayo in the dressing and that threw me for a loop! Yeah, that isn’t acceptable either. At the end of the day I believe that quality shouldn’t be sacrificed on Togo orders and it usually is! Whatever quality you can get dinning in, you should be able to get to go! That’s just the opinion of one Elite Unilocaler though(wink wink)! Happy Unilocaling…

My boyfriend suggested this restaurant for my family and I to have breakfast. He said that this place was better than IHOP we thought we’d give it a try Soon as we arrived the place was packed! Despite how full the restaurant was they were able to seat my parents, boyfriend and I within 10 minutes. Soon as we sat down the waitress greeted us with a big smile. The menu had plenty of options and it was hard to decide what to eat! Prices weren’t bad either. Once we ordered it didn’t take long for us to receive our meals. I had an avocado omelette with hash browns and fruit in the side. Portions were just enough and It was amazing! Definitely thought it tasted better than IHOP’s Country omelette! I can’t say much for the pancakes because I didn’t have any but my boyfriend sure enjoyed them! The customer service was more than wonderful. Very friendly staff who always kept smiles on their faces and constantly checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. In fact my parents said it was the first time they had customer service like this in many years! Customer service is big to me whenever I go anywhere. Whether it be in a restaurant or a retail store. A smile goes a long way and this restaurant had excellent staff! If you are in town this is the place you have breakfast or brunch at!

Looking for a hearty breakfast before a day of flying(and after a night exploring Portland’s best breweries) this place was an excellent find. Our server was exceptional and got us situated quickly, water and coffee appearing as if by magic as soon as we sat down. The menu is full of your standards but had some tasty sounding alternatives. I went with a biscuit and gravy meal with a short stack of cakes and hash browns, etc. She put a rush on it because I mentioned my flight and the haul came out quickly. I didn’t have to eat for the rest of the my trip, if I’m honest. A combination of factors made that meal nearly perfect… four stars, nothing against the place but I can’t give everyone five stars…

Excellent service and great food! They have a lovely fireplace we got to sit right next to. Just one pancake and I was good to go. This is a convenient location right next to 205. You know what you’re getting when you go to an Elmer’s, and they never disappoint. Especially with the service here, couldn’t have been a better breakfast for dinner.

The seafood feast with Yukon gold mashed potatoes was A M A Z I N G. Who would have known, Elmer’s has pretty fresh and awesome food? I come here for the Salmon strips and cod. You know a restaurant has good service when the manager comes by to ask each table how everything tastes. Give it a try for breakfast, brunch, or dinner — most of the menu is pretty good.

Don’t be deceived by the outside. It looks like your average Denny’s or IHOP, very homey. But the food is EXCELLENT! Service was great. Food came out quickly. Food was tasty. The German pancake was very soft and delicious. I suggest ordering it with some fruit topping; we were dumb and ordered it alone but it was still tasty with butter and lemon on top. The eggs benedicts were perfect. If you’re really looking for a foodgasm, order something with the CRAB. Omg they give you huge chunks and definitely do not skimp. Love it!
