Its a great dive bar that is cozy and welcoming with friendly bartenders that like to pour nice strong drinks to make you feel like your at home. Between a couple video games a couple of TV’s and people watching there is plenty to keep the conversations going.

Me and a couple of friends attempted to go Monday night, but they are presently closed. We had been here in the past, and enjoyed the divey atmosphere of this off the beaten path NW bar.
We ended up at a nearby establishment, and inquired about the reason Cheers was closed. I guess that it was supposed to be open until the end of the year, but closed early for a remodel. There is a new owner, and from the information the server gave us, good things are coming to this old haunt. The industrial area could really use something fresh and new. Look for an early 2011 grand opening.

Total dive bar! Yaaay. This is definitely a locals bar. I found people to be very friendly there, however, and very inviting. You just can’t be socially retarded and expect to go into a place like this and be welcomed. I sat at the bar, and immediately made some small talk with the regulars.
Drink prices are cheap, cheap, cheap, especially if you’re drinking the domestic bottled swill like Budweiser. I’m always surprised when I get my tab at the end of the night how cheap the drinks are.
The pours for the hard stuff are definitely liberal. I saw shot after shot being poured with what musta been well over 2 ounces.
There’s plenty of gambling, er, I mean, Lottery machines. The keno is always fun and there’s about a half dozen video machines.
Karaōke is on Wednesday.

My roommate and I went there the other Day
after work for a drink on our way home.
The bartender was very nice and was super hot for being
at least 45 with probably fake boobs
Cons
1.drink are cheap and stiff
2.bartender is hot and very friendly
Negatives
1.the people sitting at the bar smell of BO
they look like they have been sitting there for days
and not to friendly to outsiders
2. The bathrooms are disgusting
they smell and people can see through the windows
from the parking lot
3. The tent in the parking lot with the fake grass is strange.
there were a couple of weirdo whistling at me when I went to my
car. One of them had a camping stove and was cooking a can
of beans or something

After reading Laura N’s review I actually had decent expectations for Cheers. What I experienced was completely unexpected.
A few of us decided to finally check this corner establishment out. After all, it was Sunday night and not a whole lot was going on. The best way to describe the interior of Cheers would have to be «bowling alley bar that someone set fire to but it didn’t burn everything, it just blackened it.» Fair enough for me though, I’ve been to worse places.
Bartender was exceptionally nice and pricing was great for tap and bottles. There are your 2 stars.
Now the real fun part. Using the restroom I discovered that unless you sit down on the seat (and please please don’t do that) you end up exposing yourself to anyone in the parking lot behind the place due to a poorly placed window. Fun. The worst part comes when I left the restroom and noticed a pile of poo in plain sight right on my way back. That’s right, poo. A big pile of poo.
I’m sorry but poo is where the line has been crossed and its time to go. Really a shame because I can see so much potential in cheers.

So I logged onto Unilocal.And wouldn’t you know it, I’ve never reviewed Cheers: the red-​headed-​step child of bars that truly is one of the last honest-​to-​goodness dives that Northwest Portland can proudly boast.
You’ve been here before — trust me. It’s that place that you went where you could grab onto the cigarette smoke, the place where it only took one drink to knock you off your chair, yet no one stopped you at one because you actually could afford 5 or 6. The place where the regulars truly do outnumber the visitors, and you feel good about leaving a tip because this place is the bartender’s pride and joy, and it’s clear in everything from the service to the décor.
Cheers NW is as authentic to its namesake as you’ll find on this side of the river.
