My mom and I were in a rush and thought we didn’t have time to wait for a pizza to bake. WRONG! The man said it wouldn’t take long and sure enough, our pizza was ready *from scratch* in 5 minutes. I got a Pizza Margarita without cheese and it was DELICIOUS! The crust was absolutely perfect(seriously, so good!) and the marinara sauce was incredible. The only downside is I’ve been dreaming of it ever since.

in the last week This pizza is absolutely delicious. The slightly singed sour dough with bold and savory handmade sauce is awesome when paired with the the creamy cheese and fresh basil of the signature magherita. I highly recommend a stop at this gem of a food cart for anyone visiting the sw waterfront.

Ash is an appropriate name… Because about 50% of the time I’ve grabbed a pizza here the crust has been a bubbled, black, burnt un-edible mess. :-( Apparently you really have to request that you would prefer your crust«no Ash» or you’ll get a Ash. Hit or miss here people… Step right up and Spin the wheel… see what you pizza fate will be. It’s a great concept and tastes ok when not burnt but the toppings are minimal and it is primarily pizza dough and marinara you are paying for. C’mon Ash get your quality control down and check the underside of your pies before you serve them. :-( 2015-113

The marinara pizza was lacking both in sauce and cheese, the first bite of a slice was good but the rest did not please. Not worth what you pay at all.

What a wonderful addition to the South Waterfront! Finally some serious pizza in this neighborhood. I bet all the folks from OHSU appreciate this as well. For my part, I can grab amazing pizza dinner on the way home — they open until 9pm. We had their daily veg($ 10) and meat($ 11) pizzas(8-inch). I believe the margherita pizza goes for $ 7. You can keep track of their dailies at . The pizzas were baked surprisingly fast in that little woodfired oven inside the food cart(6 to 8min). The sourdough crust has a light and airy texture, perfectly handcrafted. The topping variety can be funky but totally well harmonized. More important, you can taste they’re fresh. I grew up in Europe and this little tiny food cart beats some Italian high class pizzerias easily. Tip: As for drinks, turn your head around. There is a Kombucha cart and also Scout beer garden across Moody.

I loved this food truck – delicious pizza and s’mores! Quick and courteous service, as well. I had the daily meat pizza(salami, garlic, peppers, cheese), which was delicious. All the ingredients were clearly of excellent quality. The garlic cloves melted in my mouth! My only complaint is that my pizza very quickly fell apart. However, the ingredients were delicious enough on their own. The s’more, though… cinnamon, creamy chocolate, marshmallow, whatever the graham-cracker-y crust was. So good. A++++

Great to see Pizza come to the South Waterfront and while they do stay open more than other carts at the Gantry, later would even be better :) But I’m sure(hoping) this will happen as the neighborhood continues to get more dense. Love their crust and very fresh ingredients you can taste as well.

My husband and I both ordered the mozzarella basil pizza and loved it. The ingredients were fresh and tasty I’m a big fan of wood fired pizza and they were done super fast too. My only complaint was drink choices. Ash informed us of the beer cart across the street tho and encouraged us to check it out which we did and was great as well.

I’m a self proclaimed pizza connoisseur and have yet to have wood fired pizza out of a truck. Comes in 10 inches of wood fired awesomeness. Prices range from 8 – 11 bucks. It appeared that they have 2 – 4 styles of pizza a night. I had the fennel and kale. It was exactly what I was craving. Took about 5 minutes to make. Make sure you stop by this truck! Only gripes, hours can be hit or miss. I’ve gone during their«open hours» before and they were closed. I also thought my pizza could of used another minute or two, I prefer it crispy even in the center. Luckily I tried a second time. Definitely coming back. Great job guys!

My partner had been hearing about this cart, so we checked it out today while shopping on 13th. Super cute little cart with a small wood-fired pizza oven. There were three choices for pies today: margherita; squash and fennel(?); and hedgehog mushroom and shallots. Partner had the margherita, and it was awesome! Great crust, and the red sauce had tons of flavor. I had the mushroom and shallot pie, and it was killer. White-style pie with wild hedgehog mushrooms(which are amazing on their own, IMHO), caramelized shallots, and fresh mozarella. The owner/operator was friendly and his pizza are great! Check ‘em out when you’re in town.

As a lifelong lover of all forms of pizza and as a former pizzeria owner I am super happy to have found Ash. The crust is a wonderful combination of doughy and chewy with the lightest touch of charred crispness. The toppings, sauces and combinations show an artful sense of flavor and mouthfeel. Every time I’m in Portland, with its myriad of options… Ash wood fired is what I pine for.

The handsome man of ASH woodfired is an artisan and pizza is his craft. The menu changes daily, but pretty much there’s always a margarita pizza, a vegan option, 1 or 2 specialty pizzas, and a salad. Everything is sourced locally and seasonally. Like ASH on Facebook and you can see the day’s posted menu. The set-up is simple: you order a pizza, he hand rolls the dough, makes your pizza and places it in a brick oven. Yep, he has a brick oven in that truck. Surprisingly enough, it really doesn’t take long to get your pizza. Which makes me think, «Why isn’t every place individually making my pizza with love?»(I’m embellishing here… love me, handsome man). You know when you go to a craft coffee shop and get a pour-over? That special feeling of having a cup of coffee individually made for you is similar to what I feel eating at ASH. The pizza is made the way pizza should be. Not too much cheese, but just the right amount of melted fresh mozzarella slices. The crust is not too thin, not too thick. The greens and pepper pizza I tried had fresh kale and sliced baby bell peppers on it. The ingredients to his pizzas are brilliantly curated. Okay, I just used the word ‘curated’ talking about pizza. That’s the quality of this stuff. Definitely swing by if you’re looking for food in SE. He takes cards too, folks.

Ash Put It Down — I recently got a vegan corn and tomato pizza from Ash and have been singing about it since. Super satisfying! And this coming from an Italian who was raised on authentic pizza. The combination of the veggies over an essential light spread of pesto sent my taste buds for a ride. The crust was soft and hearty, too. I am going back this week for more. Highly recommend.

Tried Ash last night in Sellwood Park at Portland Parks and Rec movie in the park. Thought it would just be something warm and savory to eat, but I was super impressed. Not only were all the pie names inspired by the movie — the DeLorean! — but, all the pizza is made to order while you wait. The crust was made from amazing fresh dough that turned out soft and buttery. Didn’t think I’d like a soft crust like that but it was wonderful. The sauce was so good I widened my eyes and wooted* after the first bite. I almost snuck around the back of their cart to see if there was a garden with heirloom tomatoes and herbs — the sauce tasted that fresh. I also have to say the couple running the cart were good sports too. My friend made a comment about how nice it was to sit in the shade of the park and then realized they were boiling inside a teeny, tiny food cart next to a wood fire oven. They just smiled and laughed. *wooted: yelled woot

The couple who run the truck are fantastic. Super nice, genuine, and you can tell they love what they do. We liked them so much we even had them cater a party at our house. It’s amazing what they can do with a little truck. Everything looks nice and clean inside. Just a note: it’s completely vegetarian. You can tell the food is fresh. They hand roll the dough after you order so it’s not the fastest food but only takes about 10 minutes or so. A little bit longer when they get busy. Locally sourced produce, most of it hand picked at local farmer’s markets. The menu changes frequently as they use what is fresh. I’ve tried 6 different pizzas so far and they’re all quite good but some you’ll like better than others based on your personal taste preference. The appetizers are fantastic. So far have tried the roasted artichoke and corn on the cob. Uses olive oil, not butter, but tastes just as good if not better in some ways. If you like smores you gotta try it here. Hand made marshmellows with dark chocolate melted perfectly with slightly charred graham cracker… mmmm. If you ever want to cater a no-hassle party try them. Prices are more than reasonable. They bring everything you need. Plates, utensils, napkins… they even bring 2 garbage cans. One of course for recycling =)

Best margarita pizza by food cart if not close to my restaurant fav Nostrana. Heavenly buffalo moz, ample sauce and basil for $ 7. The most adorable, cutest, sweetest couple creates these master pieces!

I don’t have a strong opinion at the moment. It was recommended via Instagram from a friend of the owners to check it out if you were in the Portland area and seeing as I am in the area, a HUGE pizza lover, and love supporting small business I decided to give it a try. I love that ASH offers freshly prepared pizza from the time you order, nothing is just sitting around pre-rolled or pre-tossed, no sauce has been added yet, or toppings. They make the dough from scratch, the sauce is fresh and not from a can, toppings are fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced. All things I love seeing a small business do. I am also impressed that they have an actual fire stove in their truck! When we stopped by I ordered a traditional mozzarella/basil pizza and my husband had I think the purple asparagus pizza. The flavors all blended together perfectly nothing overpowering anything else, just like pizza should be. My only complaint was just how crisp/charred the edge of my pizza was so I didn’t eat the crust(personal preference) but it was to be expected seeing as it was cooked in a traditional fire over vs a over like at pizzahut or another greasy chain place. I would love to go again and try out one of the new daily pizza topping options they have. Overall definitely worth stopping and giving them a try if you want truly fresh tasty pizza!
