What a top notch place! My dinner tonight… Incredible! Chick pea fries, bangers and mash, and brats with carrot mashed potatoes, polished off with a 7% black cherry stout! We went there to watch game 6 of the nba finals and they opened up the back patio for us and gave us control of the remote. As a guy, that’s always a plus. Our servers were amazing. As a former server, I appreciate great customer service and this was definitely present. She sat down with us for a while, gave her honest recommendations, and was just great to deal with. Can’t say enough about this place. I love Portland for this very reason!!!

Great place to head to for Monday night trivia. I’m a huge fan of their Shepard’s pie. They also have some pretty awesome cocktails!

Came here on a slightly warm day to have a drink on the patio with some friends. The atmosphere outside was nice and casual. There was plenty of space for our large group and while we only had one waiter he was quick and friendly. The beer selection is par for most bars in Portland. Didn’t have the food but some friends had the large fish and chips and it was pretty huge.

Good food and great service. Sat outside with our two small kids. Waitresses were very accommodating. After they cleared my daughter’s plate we realized she wasn’t finished and they made her a batch of fries to go. Changing table in restroom. Good nachos and burger. Not cheap but worth it. They have glasses of beer for light weight nursing moms like me.

Decent place, nice patio. They had live music which was pretty cool. Lots of craft beers on tap, good selection. I didn’t not like this place, but I didn’t love it. Would definitely go back and try more things

Monday nights have gone downhill with the new bar staff and waitress. After being a weekly regular for over three years, I really really wanted to give the new crew a chance to get into the groove of trivia nights, but week after week, it’s gotten WORSE. Wtf… Bartender is a unfriendly, unhelpful. But it’s the waitress’ unbelievably growing incompetence that finally broke us. You would think that after several months, she would have found her groove, but no. Everything is an apology, the wrong drinks arrive or not at all, placing orders during the game is a headache, bills become the most confusing thing she’s seen, and her thin skin means every interaction requires us either coddling her to the extreme or we’re left with a muttered passive aggressive statement. We tried to bypass it all by ordering directly from the bar, but even then, it became some huge fiasco. I still like the food, the patio, the beer, and the events, but now I avoid this place on Mondays like a Trump rally.

Great beer selection, stellar cocktails, tasty snacks(chickpea fries and white bean dip are tops), and excellent outdoor ambiance(when heaters are working). Alberta Street Pub outdoor patio kills it on hot summer days with airflow coming in from two sides, creating a cool, oasis like environment. Alberta Street does it right in so many ways they’d be one of my favorite pubs if they could only get their heat lamp situation taken care of and make less saltier fish and chips they’d be 5 estrellas in my book.

Nice open area in the back, great location on N Alberta street. Came here to grab a couple beers and some black bean nachos — very satisfactory way to end the night.

It’s been three months since my last review, and in the meantime they’ve decided to be fancy. The lights are so low you can’t see anything– I feel sorry for the bartender trying to work– and even worse, the glorious outdoor heated patio has been partitioned so that smoking is only allowed in one chilly part of it. Part of what I loved about this place was the civilized smoking patio. I guess they’re trying to change their demographic. But it sure was busier before. I wish they’d have stuck with a formula that worked for them. They still have a really good, reasonably priced pub food menu, and the same great beer selection(which is now hard to read). But everything else screams«high-end». I guess they’re trying to appeal to Portland’s new tech-bro influx. Good luck with that, Alberta Street Pub.

This place totally surprised me when I first walked in. They have an awesome patio that is pretty hidden from the front. Good beer selection. They also have a good choice of board games to play on the patio which is always a fun bonus. I have mostly eaten appetizers here and they have all been tasty.

This is an easy favorite along Alberta. It’s a step up from the classic pub vibe yet manages to remain(rather) effortlessly cool. Beer flights, over 20 taps, a solid selection and craft of classic cocktails, a live music venue, large outdoor patio, and proper copper mule cups? I never saw the original, but consider me sold on the not-so-recent reno.

This place has a good bar menu and the food came out quick. Although the staff are slim some days but you can order at the bar and all is well. The patio is nice also. 4 stars has been earned.

Great beer, great food. Worst service of any bar I’ve been in Portland since 2008. *Make eye contact. *Know who came to the bar first and serve accordingly(if there’s three patrons in the bar, there’s really no excuse for losing track). *Be on top of continued bar service. How else would you be able to sell more beer and food? This is over three visits over a two week period. All different staff on the bar side. I have no idea what’s up but something should really change to keep service up with the image and product selection; the latter of which is fantastic.

Decent local pub. Second time here, first was good second time, meh. The service is spotty, the beer selection great. Food. nod meal was amazing, then they overcooked my burger. Bartender didn’t seem to care, but I think the manager helped me out. She took $ 5 off the tab. If I lived next door, I’d probably try again but doubt I’ll be back, I have so many other favs in the ‘hood. Knockback for example. GREAT burgers, amazing drinks and super friendly bartenders :)

Huge tap selection, friendly bartenders, weekly trivia, live bands, plenty of space. In my experience, this place is far busier on week nights than it is on the weekends. I think that speaks to the neighborhood crowd that hangs out here. Monday night trivia is fun — very good questions — and has a roster of regular teams, but it’s easy to come in and play as a newbie. I have not eaten here, but the burgers looked and smelled amazing — and they came out really quickly regardless of how busy the place was. This spot can be a bit intimidating when you first walk in the bar because of how close the bar is to the door. It is a bit of a struggle to get through the mob of people in the front room because it’s so narrow. Great space in the back, though! It’s cute and clean. I would take anyone here.

This was the best service I have received in a long time. The food was to die for and the atmosphere is so welcoming. This was my first time coming here and I will most definitely be coming back. I’m someone that never makes reviews on these types of the things( Unilocal) but, I am so impressed with this establishments that I had to share my thoughts on how GREAT my time was here.

I’ve been living in the neighborhood for about 6 weeks now and I just discovered this place. With 21 taps, always rotating, and a decent food menu this place is a must for beer and food lovers alike, and they’re open late, until at least 2am. I came here one night after craving a beer while sitting at home bored out of my mind. I was alone but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it. Maybe that’s slightly sad but beer tastes just as good whether you’re alone or with a few people. Man I need some beer friends out here. I was craving something barrel aged so the bartender recommended the Lagunitas ScareCity 2: Rye Cocoa Porter. I think he said it was aged in a cedar barrel. It poured a dark black with a nice foamy head. It was pretty tasty. Roasty and sweet chocolate notes, slightly bitter. I didn’t detect any hints of it being cedar barrel aged so I’m gonna call shenanigans but the beer was acceptable. After my beer was finished I ordered the chickpea fries since I’ve never had them before. They were midway between crunchy and chewy but very enjoyable nonetheless. I recommend them to anyone trying to snack on a budget. For only four dollars you cannot make a mistake. The atmosphere was very dark with minimal lighting and there were lots of guys with beards inhabiting this small establishment. It’s the Portland way. I’m not positive but I believe there was an outdoor beer garden area as well. Probably more beards and flannel out there. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing, dimly lit beer bar to hang out at. Make sure you stop by for happy hour for some discounted food and drinks. This place is definitely worth your time! They play decent music too!

I’m in Portland. I want beer. Those two thoughts kept running through my brain. So many options. Where does one start? We had stopped by GCG across the street when we started searching for option. Lo & behold we discovered we were sitting across from a pub. After finishing our grub, we sauntered across the street, in the door, and up to the bar. Shaun was keeping bar this particular afternoon. So we asked him whats up and he pointed our gaze to the chalkboard. So many choices… how do you choose just one? We didn’t. We chose a flight! Shaun was very knowledgeable of all the beers they had on tap. And provided great leads when we pondered our dinner options. Yes, we had just finished eating mere minutes ago, but in the process of drinking four heavy beers, I knew I would want food later. ASP may look very unassuming from the outside, but this little neighborhood gem has a lot going on behind its big dark door.

I’m impressed — this place has really turned around from the dingy dive bar(which was still enjoyable) it used to be. Now dinner can really be DINNER, and doesn’t have to include fries. I had the pesto crusted cod over cheddar polenta — and it was wonderful! Surprisingly wonderful. I almost ordered fish and chips, and I’m pleasantly surprised I didn’t — there’s real food here folks, give it a go. I also had a Moscow Mule(ok well three), and I’m apparently the only one in Portland who didn’t know it’s supposed to be served in a copper mug. Beware, if this is your poison, they will collect a credit card from you as deposit because apparently there are some dirtbags out there who want to steal them. I wasn’t deterred, and the drink was wonderful. Service was great, and unexpectedly so because when the bar side is packed, all the tables full and 1 – 2 servers — you might expect some attitude, and the only attitude I got was the feeling that they were happy I was there and were glad to serve me great food/drinks and hospitality.

So it took me eight months to get back here, which is odd because I have lived here in the northeast for over four months. Well time to rectify that. I came on a Monday night for geek trivia and a meetup group. As always, great beer. This time I ate, and I got a catfish Poboy sandwich and fries which I asked for well done. The catfish was tender, but could have been a little spicier. The remoulade was nice and the bread was crisp. The fries were perfect. In my last review, I made mention of a lovely bartender who made great beer selections for me. Believe it or not she was still there, running tables on this night, and remembered me from eight months ago. Great memory. Now I really need to go back. Enjoy.

Music venue was great! The food and drinks were good. Decent tap list and courteous service. I had the fish and chips and the chips were tasty and well cooked. My fish was overcooked and rubbery texture. I hadn’t been back to Alberta Street Pub since the remodel. I love the new music room! I usually feel overwhelmed in small spaces with amplified instruments but this room is great! The music room space felt intimate and yet I wasn’t bombarded with aural stimuli. The performers were highlighted and the space worked well. I will definitely be back again!

This is a good bar, and would be great if the beer prices weren’t so jacked up. Yes, they cleaned up, and now the Alberta Street Pub is clean and shiny with fancy wood and flickering candles, but it’s lost some of its luster. It ebbs between empty and packed and while the live music is nice, it’s an odd set-up. I’ll come here for a beer, but then boogie across or down the street to finish the night. They do have a particular bartender though… Glynnis. And her pours are so… so strong. She’d be marriage material if she hadn’t given me one of the worst hangovers of my life. I swore I asked for Rum AND Coke… I was on the struggle bus until mid-day, even after the sure-fire hangover cure: 2 country breakfast burritos from Taco Time. To Glynnis, capturing the hearts and killing the livers of patrons.

We were staying at an AirBnb rental in this neighborhood and wanted to explore more of this quaint and artsy hood by foot. My husband also wanted to dine somewhere that had Monday Night Football on, so we were very specific on where to eat for dinner on this particular night. I’m usually the one that researches where we should dine, but I left it to him to do his homework if he wanted to watch football during our dinner. Alberta Street Pub was a great find for us. He had the burger & fries and I tried the fish & chips. For whatever reason, our server forgot to place my order for the fish & chips, so there was a ten minute delay in getting my food after my husband got his burger. She felt super bad about it and ended up getting our first round of drinks on her, so that was a nice save on her part. We happened to be there during Trivia Night going on in the other room. Once that ended, the bar area overflowed with other patrons fueling up on beer and cocktails. If anything, we were annoyed with the 6’5″ giant that decided to stand right in front of us as we were trying to watch the game on TV. Get a clue bud and have some courtesy when it’s obvious other people around you are trying to watch the game. Overall the food was good, I enjoyed my fish & chips once I got it, but it was too much food for me to devour on my own. The food is above average for a bar so that was a good thing! Friendly service, welcoming ambiance and good food, yep, it’s worth checking out if you’re in the Alberta Arts District neighborhood.

I don’t know what it used to be, but I like what it has become. Alberta Street Pub is the new incarnation of Alberta Street Public House. And while I didn’t have the pleasure of visiting prior to the reboot, I have to say I’m a fan of what it is now. Whether it’s the decent selection of liquor, the 20 taps of beer and cider(more beer than cider by a long shot), the huge covered outdoor patio, or the stage area that doubles as a large screen projection tv(currently showing World Cup matches), there’s a lot to like. I have heard good things about the menu(kicked off by Garden State alum Kevin Sandri, who has since moved on) but have yet to try the food. However for a solid spot to soak up some suds or kick it out of doors, this is a tasty answer. Oh, and the staff is friendly, I should add. Not sure why I hadn’t checked this spot out yet, but it’s worth a drop in some time, for sure!

We saw a really good live show in the back room. It does get hot there, especially since my friends and I were dancing! Luckily between shows, they propped open the fire exit door(which lead out to the patio anyway) since I’m sure the performers were really overheated as well. Overall a fun place, plenty of space. We got there at 8pm on a Friday and were able to get a nice corner booth for our group before heading over to the performance. It definitely became more lively throughout the evening but never got too crowded. * Diablo(tequila, mezcal, cassis, lime, ginger beer. $ 7) — 3 stars pic: This wasn’t too well balanced — it was definitely smoky from the mezcal, but that was about all I could taste. I couldn’t taste much at all of the lime or ginger beer. Overall a bit strong for me. Cocktails:

Sweet [bar] food. They completely remodeled the space, and I have to say they’ve got a rockin’ patio. This is a great place for a party/get together. Nice beer selection, good ambiance, perfect mesh of little tables, outdoor seating, booths, bar, etc. They do have live music, but I wish the stage was a bit larger or the speakers were on separate risers. I was here to see my friend’s band, and they had a hard time gettin’ down with the small stage, but the acoustics weren’t bad. Worth a note: the BLT is a winner. Sincerely, Bacon Snob.
