This gathering of food carts is fantastic. So much is brought to eat in the burgeoning neighborhood. A fire is lit and a television with sports on is presented inside a tent in which customers can eat in. Although the lot can fall to the weather conditions, the tent transcends them. I went here for a fry bread cart. This is not near light rail, but plenty of bus service is right by. Some individuals may prefer something closer to the water, and I am among them. But this is good in bringing some variety. Try A La Carts Food Pavillion.

We really like this food truck area. We’ve only had the opportunity to check out about ten of them so far which I’ve read is barely putting a dent in the food cart community and we’re excited to hear that. This area has a decent selection going from a burger joint to fried chicken to thai. Even saw a tattoo joint which was a first for myself. The wife had read about it and said it had good reviews so maybe we’ll get a chance to check out their work. There’s one truck that serves the beer and it’s the burger one. There are a decent amount of picnic tables to eat at and they have a big screen tv in the same area which is also covered. There are some other chairs and tables around. I think they did a good job with seat options and availability. Pricing like always is on point for all of the food trucks we checked out. We got there hella late so a lot of them were already closed or closing but the one we came for was still open so we were good to go. There’s an ATM and everyone, like usual, was pleasant and friendly. We’ll definitely be coming back to this food truck area to check out more of the trucks.

Nice pod of food carts with a good variety of vendors. I had the fish n chips which were really good. I got a great ice cold beer from the burger vendor and sat down at the really clean dining area and watched some sports. Ample parking. Word of caution, bring some cash as the ATM there charges like $ 3.50 to get money out, plus whatever your bank charges.

Chicken, Thai, Native American, Korean, Venezuelan, Ice Cream, Vietnamese, Mexican, burgers, fish, Himalayan, Middle Eastern, a salon and a tattoo shop. Yes, this is the A La Carts food pavillion. A rather eclectic group of carts with a nice covered eating area with a flat screen TV, recycling areas, Trivial Pursuit cards, an ATM and cornhole. It’s in a nice spot right off of Division and 50th right by Mi Miro Mole and North. I have eaten at four of the carts so far and they have all been great thus far. This might actually be the first group of carts that I may make my way around all of them. My own personal challenge. It’s not as far out of the way or as large as some other pods but a good mixture of food and well you can sport some ink or a new hairdo as well. Most unique to the food pods. Enjoy!

Had the machaca(twi beef shredded tacos with cheese and scrambled egg on corn tortilla. Delicious, not the very best ever but they hit the spot. I’d return to explore other menu items.

Good variety, and they were playing soccer on a big tv for everyone to watch. Not all the food carts were open, though. But, they had cold beer.

Great little pod out on Division and 50th. Great variety of food ranging from Mexican, Thai, Fish and Chips, Latin American to a nice home made ice cream cart as well. They have plenty of parking too.

I had the organico burrito from the soul tequila food cart. It took about five minutes for me to get my order. The burrito was mildly spicy the tofu as well cooked but it was hard to cut my Burrito with the plastic knife provided. There was a nice touch of having trivial pursuit cards on the table as well as a flatscreen TV and free Wi-Fi which is pretty amazing for a food cart villa. The seating is ample. I came on a beautiful sunny spring day around 6:15PM and there was a parking lot next to the food trucks where I parked for free. This is a great neighborhood and it is nice to have food carts so that you can quickly pop in, meander around the carts and browse each menu while trying to figure out what food wants to be in your tummy.

Clean and clever, the center court features a fastidious giant heated tent with a bug screen tv and free wifi and corn hole game surrounded by food carts of many ilks from burgers and Navajo bread to Himalayan and Asian food. There’s aoso a hair salon cart and tattoo trailer. Easy parking and clean as a whistle. One more Portland great thing!

Neat place with lots of food choices. You can get tame items if you aren’t an adventurous eater, but most of the carts seem to have more exotic items as well. Great prices and a heated seating area. Nice to know you’re getting real food and not chemicals on a bun or worse.

Awesome food cart pod! There was a great selection of food! Ice cream, fish, burgers, burritos, Vietnamese, Native American, and plenty more! All the the prices were pretty good, in the range of $ 5 – 10 per person. There is a cool covered area with a lot of seating, and a TV.

Nice seating area in the middle. I went at about 4:30 on a Thursday, and half of them were closed. There’s a lot of different styles of food here, but none that I’ve really heard of.

This pod has some great carts in it. Enough where everyone in a large group can be satisfied. I believe at the moment there are 2 carts closed for the season and a new cart(some kind of BBQ, I’m excited for) opening on 4÷1÷13. There is an ATM for use on site. Also plenty of parking. The covered portion has lots of seating and heaters. This pod usually closes around 8pm during the week and the weekend just usually depends on the crowd. I love coming here for ice cream and recently had a banh mi on my last visit that was delightful. **I’ll save my review for that for the cart itself.* I think this cart is located next to a few other establishments but if you are unsure of what you want, stop here and i’m sure you will figure out something.

Let’s see, you have Scoop!, you have Shut up and Eat, you have Cajun, Iraqi, BBQ(Jazzy’s), Thai, vegan, Venezuelan, Korean/Asian fusion, you have a chicken-themed cart… jeez did I miss any? Oh yeah: also a hair salon tucked into the mix there! If this isn’t the best all-around cart-pod in town, it’s be gotta right up there, and is definitely one of the most balanced. I have nothing at all against Mexican or Thai, as anyone even loosely following my reviews already knows… it’s just that some pods are a little lopsided, or top-heavy w/certain themes. Case in point: Cartlandia, as well as all 3 major pods downtown(SW3rd ave, SW Alder/9th, and SW5th) all have 2 and even 3 Mexi and/or Thai carts. Maybe it’s just me: sometimes less is more, capisce? Advantage(as of June ’12 at least. who knows what next month’s line-up will look like): A La Carts…

I was vegan 20 years ago. It was a miserable experience. I felt like I was starving all the time, the options were limited, vegan cheese was awful. A tasty option was a garden burger, and boy were those exciting(not). After a year I went back to being a meat eater and never really thought about it again. A couple of months ago I went back to being a vegetarian that tries whenever possible to be a vegan. It had been a long time, as I said, so I was expecting that old depravation thing again. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I recently visited Off the Griddle and had the BEST vegan burger — hell, burger period. The patty was made from brown rice and leeks, smothered in grilled onions and jalapeños with gooey, lovely vegan cheese. All of this was on a Dave’s Killer Bun. Not only was I in heaven, but my meat-eating companions were actually jealous of my food choice after tasting it. I live in downtown Vancouver, so it’s a bit of a haul getting over there, but I will do so any chance I get. DELICIOUS!

Nice collection of food vendors with lots of seating. From a pure free market society standpoint, if you cram a space full of vendors, prices stay low, or your customer base moves on. This generally works out for me, the customer. I’m not sure how any one vendor does tremendously well in such a large pod, but I assume they did the math when they fleshed out their business plans. I’m not so interested in spending $ 10 on a plate of cart food(I’m looking at you, Namu — different cart pod, but you get the idea). Here at A La Carts, I usually spend under $ 6. Heck, I usually eat here for under $ 5 thanks to the delicious burritos at Azul Tequila. Plus I can almost always find a seat in the center tent, and sometimes there is even live music. I’m looking forward to trying the Gyro cart that opened up here this week, provided, of course, the prices are right.

Went here with cash. They have an ATM but I didn’t check the ATM fee. It was probably $ 3+. There’s a good smattering of carts. I don’t think any of them served alcohol which is probably notable. There is a covered, heated, clear-paneled, large tent to eat in so you can order your food and eat in no matter what the weather is doing. I got a burrito at Azul Tacqueria and it was awesome for $ 4.50. Huge. A little wet for my taste but good. Chips and pico de gallo for $ 2. So all in all a good meal for well under $ 10.

THEREBEHEATUPINTHISHIZZLE! The jury is still out on the quality of most of these super new carts, but the large, covered, 4-wall tent has a propane heater keeps out the cold & is the perfect place to eat on these particularly bone-chilling days! Oh yeah, and free wi-fi for the food cart pavillion? sweeeeeet! :-)

The newest cart pod addition in SE is coming together nicely! Covered seating for 90 people, plus tons of room for milling about, a stage for music(today was an Oktoberfest celebration, with a beer garden!), ATM on site. It’s right on two major bus lines(4, 14), and there is plenty of street parking in the area. Looks to me that there are a few spaces left for lease and I’ll bet those are snatched up soon. So far, there’s a good assortment of food here, including Deadliest Catch(with seating and a TV inside the bus!), a Mexican place, a wacky hot dog joint, coffee/tea/smoothie cart, soon-to-open fondue cart, Southwestern Pizza Co., a chicken place, and a burger cart serving up very different burgers including elk and portobello. Hours are unclear for some of these places at this point, but I think they are still figuring that out as this pod is so new. The burger joint had a sign stating they were open until midnight on the weekends, the Mexican place until 9 pm everyday. I’ll bet that in time, they’ll recognize the opportunity to make some dollars off drunk folks leaving Landmark Saloon and North Bar later at night. Seems like a great spot in the making, better than the fairly disappointing Good Food Here(Belmont) and played-out Cartopia(Hawthorne) for sure.
