The tacos at Herschels used to be the best deal in town, 3 crispy beef tacos for $ 3.99. Today I got 4 mini tacos with a pinch of ground beef, pinch of lettuce, tomato and shredded cheese… for $ 4.99. There is still the hamburger and chicken fried steak that offer somewhat of a fair trade.(For now)

Went to have breakfast and the service was sucky, the wait was loooooooong. My family thought our breakfast would become lunch instead. Never again will I eat at this place. The Herschel branch in the nearby town has much better service-wise.

Great home style cooking. This location is the best. Chicken strips are great and are the burgers. Peach cobbler when they have it is a must.

$ 22.95 for our meal. Kid meal, chicken fried steak dinner and smothered spud. This place is like a better version of Dairy Queen minus the dessert selections. Most of the options offered are battered and deep fried or burgers. My wife liked chicken fried steak dinner. She said it was better than Cracker Barrel. The beef was hand-battered. Her potato was a better value than the side of mashed potatoes. It is served with butter and cheese. Bacon bits are a pricey $ 0.79 extra and sour cream is $ 0.49. The children’s chicken finger meal has two large, hand-battered pieces that were fantastic. The cream gravy tastes like instant. However the smothered spud suffered greatly. The gravy was good. The hamburger steak was tasty as were the onions. The craptacular part was the spud itself. This spud was hard and tasted like it had been sitting in the oven since the Cuban Missile Crisis. Highly disappointing and for that reason I can’t give this place more than 2 stars.
