I was in Austin working for a week, and my journeys in Austin brought me by El Maguey at lunchtime. I ordered the #11 Amigo plate and I left full, and satisfied. The food was brought out quick, and was delicious. To my amazement, the salsa was fiery for this gringo, and I loved it! Great food, and the salsa is above par with a nice fiery touch to it. Great job gang!

First time and last maybe I’ll give them another chance but no soon Food looks great tasted…no so good Let me tell you even my kids didn’t like their quesadilla I ordered guisado de puerco husband had fajita changa and kids quesadilla for the kiddos My pork /carne guisada in red sauce tasted weird like old meat from 2 days ago like really OLD Fajita changa wasn’t what he expected And again kids didn’t finish their quesadilla guess the only good thing we had was the chips and salsa and queso flameado and tortillas Drinks where served right first time by the second time we ask for refills on kids orchata and they pour water in the cups *kids drinks were only .89cents maybe that’s why Husband iced tea was more ice than Glad my soda come out good Service friendly but they sort of ignored us at times and place was empty so I guess that’s it

Food is okay, nothing special. Portions are small and not enough. Service was decent, they took awhile to give us our food even though we were the only ones there. It is cheaper than other places. Probably won’t go back.

Came here to eat with the kids. Seems like a mom and pop place. Very nice people. I got the Poblano pepper combo plate which was good liked the pepper that is stuffed with ground beef and then battered and deep fried. It has a good crunch when you bite into it! And they have a good selections for kids menu!

This has become my go-to Tex-Mex restaurant since moving to Pflugerville. The salsa is excellent. Tacos are quality. Price is good. Service is responsive and friendly.

First time exceeded expectations. Nice location tucked off of Grand Ave. Parkway in Pflugerville. Ronnie took my order and was very friendly. Ordered the migas taco and chorizo and egg taco. The flour tortillas were excellent and the migas taco is delicious. Green sauce and red sauce was very good. I will return to try the rest of the menu.

We have driven by this place for years, but have never tried it, as we have several other favorites close by. We finally decided to give it a try today and were pleasantly surprised. First, the salsa was full of flavor and very good. We ordered off of the breakfast menu. I had the migas and added beef fajita meat, and my husband tried a gordita and they were both delicious! The tortillas are homemade and very good. The service was fast and very friendly. Glad we gave it a try and we will definitely be going back again soon!

The food is good, not great. Average at best. The service is poor. I left no tip. They don’t do the extra things to earn a tip. No silverware, no lemon for tea, no refill offered. Waitress took order, brought ticket. Someone else brought food and silverware.

It’s an okay place. I go in there to do homework at times(they have wifi) and they’re always friendly and accommodating. I’m not a fan of Tex Mex food so I don’t eat. But I recommend it to hang out :)

The place was empty when we arrived at 4:15pm with just one waitress working. I got a peach margarita, which was very sweet and yummy. To eat I ordered the taco salad, which, when it came, was just lettuce on a plate with chicken, tomatoes and cheese. I asked if it was supposed to come in a taco shell and the waitress said not that specific one. I thought I saw on the menu that it did, but I didn’t ask to see the menu again. My husband got the chicken quesadillas and said they were okay. I think okay sums up the whole experience at El Maguey. I doubt we’d go back though.

It’s a disgrace to find this kind of «tex-mex» in Texas. If I ran across this restaurant in some northern state, I wouldn’t be as surprised. My family and I stopped here on a road trip to Dallas and I figured the menu and look of the place resembled that of our beloved hole in the wall tex-mex restaurant near home. Man, was I wrong. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Friday night at 6PM. That should’ve been a sure sign to avoid this place at first sight but we continued on based on previous, good Unilocal reviews. We ordered shrimp fajitas for four people and were served what seemed to be 2 personal sized fajitas skillets with a measly 5 – 6 shrimp on each with some onion and bell peppers. They even skimped on the tortillas. Half way through the meal, we had to ask for more tortillas so each person could have at least 2 tortillas for the fajitas. That should be the typical serving size for fajitas at ANY restaurant. Even then, they gave us just enough to finish the meal. Once the fajitas were gone, everybody was still hungry so we had to fill up on the rice and beans that came as side dishes. The bill totaled to a little less than $ 60 and we left unimpressed and just barely full. Take my advice, go someplace else.

Just stopped by for lunch. A friend recommended it and said they have great music. Well the music it’s at night so I think I’ll be coming back because the food was just great. It was«Real Tex Mex». The place was full and yet the service was fast and friendly. That is a big issue with me.

It was Thursday night around 8pm and we were craving some Mexican food. El Maguey was next door and had pretty good ratings so we thought we would go check it out. We were greeted and seated by a friendly waitress who took our order right away. Soon after, they brought chips and salsa. They were a bit slow on the refills, but overall, very friendly and on top of it. I ordered the taco and queso plate. Both were okay dishes but nothing really special. The taco seemed to lack a lot of flavor. Overall, this seemed to be just another Mexican Restaurant in Texas

Been here a few times, breakfast and now dinner. Breakfast first. Menudo is legit, huevos rancheros were also good, they made a couple of minor mistakes but nothing major, I added a steak and they cooked it medium which is how like it, but they should ask how u want it prepared. Dinner, queso is just the right thickness and the chips were hot and fresh, got the Gonzales plate, crispy taco, enchilada, and chili relleno with rice and beans. Everything was hot and fresh, enchilada could use some more sauce but still good. Fajitas were descent(stole some off the wife’s plate). All in all, was worth the money. I would probaly give it three and half stars.

Came here yesterday after church… after all dining is part of the church experience, no? lol Décor: chilled out, one big room, clean, bright, cheery with a bar and a few tvs with volume. Looks like it would have been ideal to watch soccer here. FOOD: BESTMENUDOIVEEVERHADINAUSTIN this title was previously held by El Taquito, then stripped by Speedy Taco on Mays… and now… given to El Maguey. I feel like a medal should be awarded. Latinos, you know how it goes You start off with that big bowl of menudo full of promise, so much hope and expectation as you squeeze that lime and sprinkle the cilantro… skip the onions folks = just. and the first few bites are delish… then halfway through, kinda chewy. and by the end its a bowl of salt. and fat, maybe a pata. yuck. NOTHERE! good to the last spoonful! my love loved what he got, some combo, maybe the el paso idk, who cares it was good but he agreed it paled in comparison to the menudo.

The house frozen margarita for $ 4.25 was very nice, the Puerto Vallarta plate came with one ground beef enchilada, one tamale and one crispy taco, I had the poblano pepper plate that came with a ground beef filled chile relleno, one ground beef enchilada and rice and beans… both plates were very good, the refried beans stood out, the rice like most places was average

I wanted to like it more, I really did. In the end, I think three stars is fair though. El Maguey is hard to find and definitely not easy to see from the street. I hope they survive, because we were the only ones there around 1 on Saturday. We were seated quickly, chips and salsa are good, and the waitress was very nice and helpful for the entire meal. I had the spinach and chicken enchiladas, and they were really good. The flavors combined very well, and if there’s one thing to complain about is that it could have used a little more of that sauce they cover it in. The refried beans were pretty good, but the rice was forgettable. One interesting thing about this place is that their weekday lunch specials extend to Saturday, so my son had the #2 steak enchilada platter. The meat was flavroful and tasty, but the enchiladas were covered in a ranchera sauce which is a little unusual. Not bad, just not what we expected. The beef enchilada my mom had was fine and the enchilada sauce tasted just fine. My mom also ordered a side of tortilla soup, and that was disappointing. The broth was mediocre, and all it had in it was rice, chicken, and some avocado slices. It definitely lacked something, like some vegetables(onions, tomatoes) and the broth should have been a lot more flavorful. All in all not a bad experience by any stretch of the imagination, but I can’t really go over three stars.
