I’ve been to this place when it was fairly new in 2010. When it was only that little tiny section of a bar. Now, here I am 6 yrs later trying out their food in their restaurant area. It was nothing to write home about. The food was OKAY. I had ordered the Fried Mac-N-Cheese. Honestly, not the greatest tasting thing I’ve had. The breading they used tasted like that smell of an old house.(I know that it’s a weird comparison, but its all I got) However the«LARRY» sub I got was pretty delicious. Although… I didn’t think it was $ 12.50 delicious. The atmosphere was mixed, the bar area was PACKED with Mid 40’s but yet I saw plenty of Mid 20’s there also. The restaurant area was fully seated by 9pm mostly same crowd age. Overall not so bad tho. I wouldn’t be opposed to going here again. It was a good time. I just think the food was a bit expensive for the quality in my eyes. But heck, for«bar food» it wasn’t too shabby. My friends love this place. So I’m sure I’ll be back Don’t be an Idiot… go to the Idiot and give them a try

I thought this place was horrible. It was my first(and last time) there. I had gotten my only second drink and handed the bartender a $ 50 bill, he then handed me back $ 3. I proceeded to tell him I just handed you a fifty, he responded by saying I didn’t and went to register and took out ALL of his twenties and shook them in my face saying no fifties were in there. I spoke with manager. He checked on things, saying a fifty bill was under drawer but could not have been mine and quickly became rude. Bottom line is they took my money and did nothing about it, I definitely had a fifty, I know for a fact and even had my witnesses, this bar stole from me. They poorly dealt with the issue at hand on top of it. It was the worst customer service I have ever encountered.

Had dinner here last night for the first time. The food was mediocre at best. However, our waitress(Nora) was so friendly and attentive. All the employees were so nice. The drink prices were reasonable so I’m sure we will be back for drinks.

I like this place bc food is good usually. However they lose two stars for possibility the worst service I have ever seen. I come back bc I live close and for the food but I can name several examples of shotty service. When bar is full they have tables behind bar but u still have to order food and drinks at the bar and it takes forever. We wanted to sit at sit down area and no hostess and another family left bc same thing and nobody told us if sit down area was closed so who knows. I’ve been placed in booths and forgotten about for 20 minutes. And ask for menus or other things and have to ask twice usually. It’s just so frustrating coming here sometimes.

I’m recommending this place even though I didn’t actually eat here. The reason being the staff’s efforts to accommodate our large group on zero notice. It didn’t work out through no fault of theirs but they really made the effort to seat us even though they were packed. They were also very gracious when we had to bail, after they tried to make a spot for us. Thanks Village Idiot staff.

The restaurant is always a laid back place to get a drink. So I went there today after moving some furniture. Sat by myself because Iive in Nassau county. Beer good, food good, female bartender Dani? very nice. Then there is little pygmy Kevin. Bartender who decides to make some rude comments about me to the other bartender after I ate my meal and moved to the other side of the bar to see another tv. I guess he thought I couldn’t hear him? Anyway, you go to a bar to unwind. have chit chat with some strangers about football then get insulted by one of the employees. What a lowlife employee. He obviously has a confidence problem… If I were that short I would too. Well I asked him after I heard him insult me if he had something he would like to say to me that’s funny? Well ofcourse he said oh no! Not at all. Coward Will not go back to Village Idiot with this clown working there.

I’d really probably give here 3.5 stars. Food is always delicious. Drinks are good too. Sometimes the staff is lacking in personality and ability though. Also– it can be a bit loud, but it’s that kind of atmosphere, so it doesn’t really bother me much. I always like their specials and their breakfast is delicious :) Especially their spicy bloody Mary’s YUM

We attended a party here this evening. The food was outstanding. We had the marinated steal tid bits with chunks of blu cheese which was out of this world and extremely tender. The pasta Bolognese was outstanding and the pasta was nice and al dente! The chicken francescas was cooked and flaccid perfectly as well. This place is a lot of fun. It draws a nice crowd abs offers a fun pub atmosphere. There are plenty of TV’s to catch your favorite teams too! And of course, great food wouldn’t be great without the great service! Kevin our waist, was great tonight! The Village Idiot hits all the marks tonight! !! Wow, I was just checking out their menu. …I’m coming back tall soon!

Really cool place to go for a few drinks and some pub food. They also serve breakfast food! We went for the Patchogue St. Patrick’s Day parade last year and for the Jets game from London last month. I had eggs Benedict with a Guinness to start the day and it was awesome! I wish they had a better selection of IPA’s on tap. Shipyard Monkeyfist was on tap both times as their IPA. Need to switch it up and get something better.

Based off my handful of experiences at the Idiot, I’d have to say, while they’ve gotten much better and cleaned their act up, its hard for me to give any sort of glowing review. I’ve found some good stuff, particularly the cute bartender pouring me a badass Bloody Mary and the bangin’ breakfast but, I have also had quite a few bad experiences; undercooked fries, dried out pulled pork, cold burger, douchey crowd. Maybe I’m the idiot, i think their breakfast is dope, but hate every other aspect of the place. I’d like to be positive but they are just way too inconsistent. The place looks great now and they do seam to be cleaner than they were… Try it out for yourself, but I can’t confidently give them a recommendation, as much as I’d like to. If you like them, great, you will fit in with all the other drones, enjoy.

Always changing their taps, fresh atmosphere, and the food is off the chain. I have been here numerous times and no matter who I get I’m greeted with a smile. If you like sports, this is the place to be. I’m a big Ranger fan and they have the«Rangers VIP Party» every away game. Drink specials, wing discounts, and raffles(including a ranger jersey) Bottom line, it’s a great place no matter what your age is. You don’t get the fist pumpers, or the under agers. It’s real people having a real good time. Get the wings and FF well done, that’s my tip.

I love this place! My first time going to V.I.P. and I must say they delivered. Went for Football Sunday and it was packed with people. The hype about this place lived up to the talk for me. Got in and the hostess was very nice, only waited 20 minutes for a table, then we got a corner booth. The waitress, Tracey, was excellent. Came to the table, glasses alway full and talked to us, you couldn’t ask for more. A lady came around later and offered free beer and a photo! This place must do great business. To start we got wings and it was buy one get one free. The wings were ok, but not the best. Not a lot of soda selection for the none drinker, but that’s expected from a sports bar. But the icing on the cake for me was the«Meathead» cheeseburger! 12oz of beef stuffed with bacon, mushrooms, and onions!!! If you need to know what true love is get this burger! It is the mother of all burgers! «One burger to rule them all» type taste! Sorry I digress, you may ask then why did I give this sports bar 3 stars instead of 4 or even 5, well it’s simple really. The Manager was rude. Many people go out on Sunday to watch there sports team play. That’s the main reason I went to watch the Giants dominant the Buffalo Bills. The Manager only put the game on one TV in our section, plus the TV she put the game on had the menu bar across the screen so you couldn’t see the score! I asked 3 employees to add more Giants games on other TVs and they wanted to, but the manager told them«no» I went to her myself and asked and again she gave me some generic excuse and sent me on my way. My brother had to change his seat to watch the game, so he decided to ask one more time. The bus boy was great and went to add one more TV. He went to the Manager and she walked away frustrated he even asked her. A couple people left the area and didn’t understand why the New York Giants could not be on more then one TV. I watch Big Blue win and left feeling cheated of my experience. No doubt I will be there again for the burgers and great service, however next time I spend my Sunday watching the Giants make it to the Playoffs, it will be at Rudi’s on 112. Go Giants!!!

Great pub food. Comments below are a joke. All these silly comments that have nothing to do with their beer selections or their food. This place should be compared to places like Croxley’s, Long Island Millers Ale house and all other kinds of pubs. If you do that, you will be happy.

We were out taking care of a few errands and looking for someplace to have a late lunch. We were down in the Patchogue and decided to try The Village Idiot Pub. My wife loved the seating that was next to the outside, so it felt like sitting outside while we were still inside.(which kept me out of the sun and happy) We had a very friendly waitress named Ashley who did a great job, food was good, had some wings and burgers. ****Update**** We have returned for a few visits after enjoying our first. Unfortunately the follow up visits were not as good. I did not enjoy some of the other Menu items, cheesesteak was not a winner and on out last visit, they brought our wings with the dinner. We ordered them 15 minutes before the other food, but somehow that still got screwed up. To finish up the bad experience, the burger that I ordered medium rare, was so over cooked that I could not eat it and it did not even have the bacon I ordered. Overall the staff is very nice, the food is just OK and the kitchen can not seem to get anything correct when the place is busy. Very disappointed, thought we found a new regular spot but one good experience is not balancing out a few bad ones.

Stopped in for a few drinks this weekend. I thought my friend was joking when he told me «the breakfast here is great». The next morning after suffering a massive hangover I decided to check it out. The breakfast was on point. Started off with a great hangover drink. Orange/Ginger fizz(?). Which was kinda like a mimosa with ginger. For breakfast I couldn’t decide between Eggs benedict and Sausage biscuits in sausage gravy. So I went ahead and ordered both. Both dishes were excellent. The biscuits seemed to be made in a tray and cut out in squares. That did not take away from them at all. They were really fucking good. And the gravy was delicious. Reviews seem really mixed here. Regardless of what I’ve read. my one breakfast experience will keep me coming back. Its totally worth checking out if you are questioning it.

If I were to rate this place solely on breakfast, it would get another star… but since there’s more giong on here, I can’t bring myself to do that. Their breakfast is AMAZING! For a while there I was finding myself here every Sunday to have the corned beef eggs benedict. It’s fresh corned beef, not that dog food you get in a can. and the eggs are pefectly poached *drool* plus it’s served with a side of home fries which are crispy and sesasoned deliciously. I’ve come out here on the weekends and it just tends to not be my kind of crowd, their craft beer selection is limited, and there just isn’t enough space with the large tables and the bar to do anything but huddle with your friends and shout over the music.

If you asked me a week ago about the Village Idiot I would have told you to never go inside… I went there this past Saturday night,(against my will of course) for a friend’s birthday and had a very good time! The DJ was decent enough that I was happily singing«To the window, to the wall!» and the service was weird, but good. I will return on my next trip out to Long Island :) Nice improvements Village Idiot… Despite your terrible name, and dumb $ 2 cover charge.
