The closing of Wolfe Burger is a travesty. Could this have been avoided? There should be a law against closing down one of the best burger joints ever. You’re dead to me, Pasadena.

Sadly, I read that this place is now closed. Fond memories of when I lived and worked in this area years ago. Great pastrami sandwiches.

First, from what I have read and understand, the previous post(10÷30÷12) is not completely accurate, with respect to the details of the closing of Wolfe Burgers; nor is it my understanding that it will reopen elsewhere, under the original name. Moreover, it is also my understanding that the new business, which will open at this site,(Rounds Premium Burgers) is highly rated and will provide a real high quality burger, which you can ‘build’ yourself; similar to the way Wolfe’s was set up, as well as other high-quality menu items. Therefore, I look forward to the continuation of a great concept at this busy Pasadena location. I grew up in Pasadena(K-14) and I would try and stop in and eat at Wolfe Burgers, whenever I would get back down, from where I lived in NorCal the past 25+ years. I loved the concept that Dan Wolfe created here many years ago, and I always enjoyed eating at this restaurant, where you could truly make it your way! As a side-bar to this; I went to PHS with Dan Wolfe, back in the 1960’s. I remember Dan as such a talented photographer – a true artist; who also loved food, and fast cars, in addition to, his exceptional talent as a photographer! Super LeGuerra! Some of my best memories from PHS were the times I enjoyed with Dan, in our production photography class, which was taught by the excellent and beloved instructor, Mr. Le Moyne Mark; as well as, our times away from school – with fast cars, girls, cruising Colorado Blvd. and always seeking out great places to eat! :) In summary, while it does seem that nothing ever stays the same; however, in this case, it looks as though the new burger restaurant(Rounds Premium Burgers) which will open soon at this site, will also be a class-act; I cannot wait to try it!

Had a 1/3lb. bacon burger w/cheese, which was decent considering you can add all the condiments you need to make it perfect. However, upon going back the following Sunday for breakfast at about 9:50am according to my receipt, I had to wait 30 min just for a chorizo burrito. Now I read through Unilocal that the chorizo burrito was not bad, but to wait 30 min and for just a burrito? I think not. I did not have any additional time to wait, being as hungry as I was and still not seeing my burrito in sight as I look at whats being cooked up. I returned to the cashier to find out what the hold up was. Well being that they have an outside patio, there were other orders ahead of me, but, a courteous heads up on waiting for just a burrito taking 30 freaking minutes would have been nice and necessary as far as I’m concerned… Refund please… Paid with a card, refund in cash. Why so many words for just a burrito? Well, consider it a word to the wise. If your gonna go for one on a Sunday morning, I guess your gonna have to ask for their wait time cuz it appears that they don’t give a damn about yours! Two stars for a decent burger, but quite disillusioned with the customer service and lack of common sense for their customers. Now, here’s the kicker. I will be returning because they do have an extensive menu that I do like. Plus chili cheese fries are good. I will make another attempt for the elusive chorizo burrito, but, anything over 15min. and I’m a goner! I say check out El Metate Mexican food for your burrito needs, adjacently located behind Wolfe Burgers on Mentor Ave. The only thing is that they are closed Sundays. :(.

How unfortunate for me and my experience at lunch today 8÷23÷12, almost one hour ago. I’ve frequented this place as most people who work in the area do but today was something else. Almost half way through eating my wolfe burger, I noticed something wiggling on my lettuce. Not kidding. I isolated the lettuce, inspected further, noticed a small worm on it and showed my colleague. He was also eating a wolfe burger and it killed both our appetites. We literally stopped eating right then and there, majority of the food fries, onion rings, untouched. I isolated the lettuce, brought it up to the pick up area, and showed them the lettuce. The baby worm still wiggling on there, the lady from the cashier comes over and flips the lettuce around cause she does not see it. From that point she asks, well what do you want? After a pause of silence, she asks, do you want another burger? I said okay initially. Why? Because I’m effing stunned. I’m speechless cause I ate a burger that possibly had more worms on it. Forget the baby one that I can see and didn’t eat. Wtf?! I walk away only to sit back down with my colleague, in silence and just completely taken away. I’m not okay. So I get up and walk back to the front, tell the lady I do not want a second burger and I want a refund. She gives me a refund in cash, in the amount that only covers the burger. Meanwhile, she asserts that she inspected the lettuce and could not find the worm and reiterates that they wash lettuce three times. Obviously, three times is not good enough. Nor was the refund. Lawsuit time, right? No. In my stupor, I just gave it back for them to inspect and didn’t think to take a picture of it prior. They trashed it but the workers decided to inspect all the other lettuce in the plastic container. Mind you I’m not irate and I didn’t want to make a big scene but I very well could have. As soon as I post this, they will know who posted this and I don’t mind because I am no longer a returning patron. I used to enjoy the food here.

I was in Pasadena and I was craving a burger, then Unilocal brought me here. Hmm, I guess this is one of those burger joints that is good, but not great. The burger patty was good. I liked the charboiled taste of the patty. But unfortunately I think there was just something missing to the whole burger experience. Perhaps a secret ingredient or sauce may make me go, «wow! this is amazing.»

My dad has been obsessed about coming back to this joint, and after coming here for lunch, I know why. This place is kind of a hole in the wall restaurant, but not in a hole in a wall. I use to live on Lake Ave and never stopped by Wolfe’s. On my fourth year living in the 626 I finally came here with my family, and I love it. I love the diversity of the menu, I love the generous portions and at a great price! I love the food, which is your greasy, American heart-stoppers like carne asada fries, chorizo and eggs, and triple pattied hamburgers. Being a fan of American and Mexican foods, I was in heaven! i would definitely give this place a try!

i have recently tried wolfe burger and to see it reach three and a half stars surprises me. They obvisouly dont specialize in their burgers as i got the wolfe special 1⁄3 lb beef hamburger and i noticed that it was just a frozen patty cooked on a charbroil grill. As i can not judge this place purely by their burger i would hope later in the future they would improve it, seeing that their name is misleading. the one thing i did enjoy about the place was the atmosphere, something about it felt nice. It wasnt a great expensive type place but it had a good feel to it.(they also serve beer so…) but i wouldnt recommend this place if you are in mood of a burger.

I feel like I did this joint a disservice, but I still wanted to review it. A friend and I stopped in for lunch and to catch up. We both ordered cheeseburgers and cokes. No fries or sides or anything exotic. The burger was good, but not spectacular. It was cooked well and the condiment bar was very adequate. I chose jalepenos on mine and it made it quite delicious, but still, nothing that stood out. I will admit, though, that I didn’t spend very long looking at the menu. I was mostly interested in catching up with my old friend and just made a quick order. I look forward to going back and giving the menu and its options another go-round, with a more robust review.

I just went here this weekend and it made me realize I have never reviewed it! Wolfe Burgers brings back great memories of the good olé days when my mom would take me to work with her and we’d walk across the street to get lunch here. We introduced my husbands siblings to this place this weekend and it went over well. His sister got the turkey burger which I need to try next time because she said it was delicious. When we left my picky 10 year old brother-in-law said, «I liked this place, it was really good. I have to remember it. Wolfe Burgers, yes, Wolfe Burgers is good». Looks like the family tradition lives on!

I sit down with Audi photographer Jim Fets over some Wolfe Burgers. Unfortunately Wolfe burgers was not what they used to be. As old memories of great service and tasty burgers dies away with a legend, new memories are born. Check out the work of photographer Jim Fets.

A coworker hyped up Wolfe Burgers like crazy. I hadn’t even heard of the place, but he offered to drive and we were sick of the usual spots so I agreed to check it out. Big, big disappointment. Frankly, the burger was just plain boring. And not the«safe» kind of boring you’d get at Rick’s or Tops. It just wasn’t good at all. I really wished we just went to Del Taco across the street for their Triple Del Cheeseburgers(I kid you not, they make a pretty damn decent burger for a NON-BURGER-FOCUSED fast food chain). To make things worse, the fries were the worst I’ve ever had, ever. Generous portion, but all of six french fries were eaten before the rest went in the trash in their entirety. Undercooked, soggier than lump of hot-sauce-induced shit, and almost 100% lacking in any salt or seasonings. Their semi-make-it-yourself burger setup is neat, but it doesn’t do squat to save a bad burger. The only plus side was that all the workers were pretty friendly. Still, it’s not enough to earn Wolfe more than one star.

Came here for lunch with a few co-workers the other day. I must say the place does get packed around lunch, so I was fairly excited to try one of these burgers. I got the ultimate burger and fries. The burger came with blue-cheese on top as much as i thought i could ignore it, the overpowering taste made me wipe it off in the end. Despite my general lack of enthusiasm for blue-cheese, the burger was ultimately pretty good. The fries were actually pretty awesome and I looooved how they had salt and vinegar out on the condiment cart for them. Its not a bad little spot and I’m more than sure I’ll be back again for another burger sometime soon, just one without blue-cheese on it ;)

Place is big, it even has patio. 2 lcd tv not too big but good enough it has espn too. Order the wolf burger, is smaller than i though is more like quarter pounder than 1⁄3. But the topping and sauce is in the table, you can add what ever you want, the fries is very good. with the skin. The thousand island sauce is excellent. price is great.

I never heard about this place. Maybe because I try to eat healthy or maybe because I dont live in Pasadena! Supposedly they have been around for a really long time. The meat of the burgur is actually like the hamburgur meat you used to get as a kid in cafeterias. It has a charbroiled taste and is medium done so it’s kinda pink inside. I didnt mind it. It was really good. Very filling, huge portions and good prices. They have ALOT of condiments, which is something I LOVE! The place is pretty nice because you can sit in the main resteraunt where the kitchen is or in another room. They even have a outdoor patio. And! They have really cute and cool drawings on the wall of Wolves eating burgers Hehe. If you are hungry and go with 2 people, order that huge package deal they have. Its well worth it. THEEND!

Open VERY early for breakfast which is why it’s usually me, a few Pasadena cops, and a couple senior citizens on a Saturday morning. They have a nice enclosed patio as well as ample seating inside. CNN is usually on, but they don’t appear to have closed captioning, so you have to sit right next to the cops in the corner in order to hear the news. I’m not complaining, but I wouldn’t recommend coming in paranoid from a night of partying. They do a fairly brisk to go business during the week considering their proximity to the Pasadena financial hub, so plan accordingly. The breakfasts are a great bang for your buck. Breakfast burritos are better than the more famous Lucky Boys and served with a smile by the real nice woman who’s always here, so I’m guessing she’s part of the family business. Fantastic, personalized service. Much more than you’d reckon from what’s essentially a burger joint. Haven’t tried the huevos rancheros yet, but since there are Mexicans cooking the food(big surprise, right?) I imagine they’re decent. The omlettes are a bit disappointing. Can’t put my finger on just why, so I usually stick to the breakfast burritos or delicious egg sandwiches. The home fries are really good too.

«It looks like a baked potato!» After 3 prior stops for chili cheese fries a little green made a world of difference. Just the sight of something other than brown and lighter brown was enough to change up the pace. Wolfe offers the Big Bad Wolfe Burger which I’ve had before and honestly that think p’wnd me. It was juicy and way bigger than I imagined. But with only chili cheese fries on the agenda for the day and 2 more stops slated for after this I couldn’t risk eating anything else. We had the mild, which was so good. Seriously of the 5 locations we ended up eating at Wolfe took it. Crisp skin on fries covered with grated cheddar and swiss, of course chili and topped off with some green onions… honestly I’m starting to salivate, and that’s how I know it’s that good. Their patio was wonderful, almost perfect for a nap. Sadly no Orange Bang(again good thing I filled up at the stop before) though a beer would have been nice too. I’ll have to go back and try the spicy chili cheese fries sometime… maybe soon.

Wolfe Burgers is consistently my preference for breakfast on the weekends. The staff remembers me and the service is great. My favorites include rib-eye steak, or polish sausage and eggs, with maybe a side of bacon. I appreciate that I get 3 eggs with my order. There’s nothing better than protein with an extra helping of protein. They offer an extensive array of complimentary condiments that includes jalapenos, green chilis, onions, etc… If I’m on a burger binge, I’ll order the«Big Bad Wolfe’ with all of its cheesy, greasy goodness.
