Bowen is quite the good pit stop en route to South or Northwest Arlington. Smack dab in the middle of Pantego, it is certainly the go-to for police and firefighters alike, but I would recommend it to anyone with a donut hankerin’. Arlington is chock full of mom and pops that offer the American fried staple, but this one offers minis. I very much enjoy the concept of eating bite size pieces of sugar-glazed, oil-cooked, highly processed starch and fat batter. Because of the aforementioned components of a classic donut, it is nice having a little taste of a few different flavors without feeling absolutely horrendous soon afterward. That being said, the offerings here are way too sweet. The overglazed cinnamon rolls boasted a layer of sugar that was far too thick to allow any sort of spiced goodness to shine. The small apple fritters again failed to possess any sort of apply nuances. Hey… at least they provided free donut holes! Donut Palace? Not bad. Not great. Just… donuts… in a palace. Not a real one, though. Don’t get your hopes up.
