This is easily the best pizza I’ve ever had. Definitely the best Chicago style. In fact, I even went here before a business trip to Chicago and tried the two most popular places — Giordano’s and Lou Malnati’s and it was easily better than those. I’ve also been to Zachary’s in the East Bay and Chicago Fire in Sacramento. This is the best. I started off getting the«Special»(name on menu) deep dish pizza. More recently I’ve been adding Pineapple, bacon, hot coppa(a hidden gem) and fresh garlic to it(combined: Sausage, mushroom, green peppers, onions, bacon, pineapple, hot coppa and garlic). It’s a pricey pizza, but it’ll blow you away. Don’t let the the sizes a fool you, a small easily feeds 2 – 3. Only con is that they often miss their«ready by» time, so you may want to tack on 20 minutes to whatever they estimate. Definitely recommend you try it though, you’ll be satisfied.

Best Pizza! Both thin and deep. Trade secret: ask for the Salciccia deep dish style. Amazing. Super friendly managers and wait staff. Best Pizza in DT Palo Alto.

We were looking for Palo Alto’s best pizza and so we thought this joint was a likely candidate. The three great thin crust pizza’s we dined on were: — Tre Porce — salami, garlic fennel sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella & sauce — Tricolore — prosciutto, mozzarella, artichoke, red pepper & basil — Salsiccia — sausage, herbed ricotta, tomato & more… The pizzas are tasty with generous servings on top. By any standards they were excellent and they were the best I have had in Palo Alto. All five of us strongly endorsed them and we were with a couple of people who think of themselves as ‘best judges’ of great pizzas. They had a ringing endorsement. Good pizza, a good fun place and attentively served.

The food was delicious… When we got it. I had a gluten free pizza(so so yummy), and my date had a deep dish create your own. We were told of the wait going in, and were fine with it. However, the server we had was quite neglectful and left my dates pizza at the counter for over 10 minutes(I saw it there). He also forgot the side I asked for, and rarely filled our water glasses even when we asked. I had to take a star off for service.

Came here twice. Both times with coworkers. The first time, I came at lunch, and ordered a lunch special: a Caesar salad that came with a vegetarian special pizza. The salad was ok – I appreciated the biscotti on top of the salad, but it was still average at the best. Now for the pizza. The pizza was again ok. I’ve been to Chicago, and gotten deep dish pizza there, and the deep dish pizza here just doesn’t compare. It’s all right — just nothing extraordinary, and the crust and bottom is too soft. Honestly, I would give this place 3 stars for the food. SERVICE and AMBIANCE: The waitresses and waiters are all really friendly, and continue to check up on you at dinner. The restaurant also has a nice cozy feel with an outdoor seating area and games streaming on the TVs. +2 for the service and ambiance. Overall, 4 stars. So-so food, but service and atmosphere make up for it.

Came here for dinner with some friends last Friday and had a good time. I’ve been told that Patxi’s has the best deep dish pizza outside of Chicago. While this may be true, it doesn’t compare to Giordano’s and the incredible deep dish pizza you can find in Chicago. That said, it’s great that there is deep dish pizza here and it’s a friendly spot. My three friends and I ordered a 14-inch Californian and added mushrooms. Just like in Chicago, there’s a 45 minute wait time for deep dish pizzas. The pizza had 8 slices and was so filling, I couldn’t finish my second slice. The cheese was perfectly melted, I think the sauce could’ve had more flavor and been less watery. After finishing my first slice, there was a fair amount of liquid on my plate. If you’ve never had deep dish pizza, Patxi’s is a great place to try. If you are craving deep dish pizza and won’t be near Chicago anytime soon, Patxi’s can satisfy that craving.

Aite so just keep in mind while reading this review that I’m a deep-dish noob. This was my first time trying deep-dish pizza, and I was not impressed. First of all, I had no idea deep-dish pizza took so long to make. We literally waited 50 minutes for our pizza. Wish they would have told us, but they probably thought we knew. Either way, it would have been nice if someone checked in with us every 20 minutes or so. My bf and I ordered the«Special», which came with garlic-fennel sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. I thought they overdid the sauce. And it just seemed like the pizza came in layered pieces that didn’t come together very well. The top part was way too sauce-y, the middle part was just watered down vegetables. I was expecting the cheese to be completely like molten and interlaced with the veggies, but it was literally just the veggies by themselves in the middle. The bottom part of the pizza tasted a little raw. Idk man, maybe I’m just not a deep-dish kind of gal. At $ 22, I didn’t think the pizza was worth it. Service was not that great either and it seemed like they were understaffed. Probably won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Referred by friend on fundraising event with this restaurant where % of your order goes to charity. Ordered takeout for the Prosciutto & Arugala(with garlic-fennel sausage addition), and Tricolore(with herb-roasted chicken addition), both with gluten-free crust. Nice that they had online ordering. The pizza was decent, but I particularly like that for the pizza combo’s I ordered, there was a(slightly) sweet & salty combination to it, giving it an interesting flavor balance, and the pizza’s weren’t too greasy. The only other place I’ve had pizza with sweet & salty combo was at Cucina Venti in Mountain View, but there they it was due to honey and they had that on the side for you to drizzle or dip in. I also liked the garlic-fennel, you can really taste the fennel.

O absolutely love this place! This reviews includes multiple visits, and I’m just not getting to post it. Came for a bday, and although they don’t have dessert, the got us gelato for the birthday girl! So nice! Greek salad is a great starter if you want to keep it healthy while you wait for your pizza. But the burrata bruschetta is to die for, if you’d like more cheese with your pizza. So yum! If you’re going to eat here definitely order a starter. If you know what you like, then order ahead so it’ll be ready when you arrive. Wednesday night seems to be a great night to eat here as all the happy hour folks don’t go out on Wednesday! We’ve tried many of their pizzas. And always get the large so I can have delicious leftovers for days. Haha Large pizza. Ground beef. Spicy chorizo. Mushroom black olive red onion. Fave flavors: spinach pesto and the special pizza and Matt Cain, bc I like meat! Recent time ordered ahead like owner suggested. Yum. Spinach and cheese and tre porcillini. Yum. If you are looking for a place to eat w friends or just a N date night with hubby this is a great place. And if you are hangry or will be. Definitely order ahead. And if you have time and are expecting guests for a game or fun nightyou can order half baked and finish off the baking at home in about 20 minutes.

So glad there is a Patxi’s close to my work place so when there’s late nights at the office(and there have been quite a few of them), I can easily get them to deliver. One thing is their online ordering through Unilocal is broken! I called in for a few orders, and for some unknown reason, the ordering system is telling me my office location isn’t in their radius for delivery. The operator I spoke to both nights wasn’t sure why either as they deliver anywhere within 5 miles. But regardless, they were able to take the order through the phone both times when I called in. Artichoke Dip — Served with a side of crunchy crostini, but the dip was a little too greasy to my liking. Spinach Pesto — pesto goes well with just about anything, so why not pizza! Greek — Perfect blend of feta, olives, and peppers. Personally not a huge fan of artichokes though. =P Matt Cain — Being the meat lover that I am, probably my favorite off the menu, pepperoni and sausage combo! BBQ Chicken — Really should be renamed to BBQ Bacon… chicken topping was minimal but generous with the jalapeños. Build your own — One of my colleagues is vegetarian and ended up ordering a custom veggie option with jalapenos, red onions, and green peppers. Same type of quality as the SF location in Hayes Valley. Next time, I’ll try dining in. =)

They have a Patxi’s in San Carlos that opened up recently and it’s a go to spot for me b/c their deep dish pizza is awesome. So I figured that I’d come to the location here in Palo Alto as it’s right by where I work. This place does not hold a candle to the location in San Carlos b/c their menu was more limited. They have the majority of the same pizza selections as the San Carlos store, minus the Chicken Alfredo, which is one of my favorites. And I was really craving that one when I came here, so I was pretty disappointed they didn’t offer it. Also, their selection of beer is pitiful. I think there were like 5 options to choose from and the rotating selection sucked. We got their bruschetta to start off with, and while the dish is really tasty, there isn’t that much bread that comes with it for the amount of cheese that you’re getting. We had to ask for more bread, but they baked it fresh which was a plus. Overall, not a bad place for pizza at all if you are in the area. But I prefer my San Carlos location :)

YUMMY and even better because we had the nicest waiter ever! He was a gem! Dinner for 4 on a Sunday evening and when I got there, no wait. Score! We were still waiting for half of our party, but placed our order for pizza and drinks with the best waiter ever. When the rest of the party showed up, we quickly got our starter app/salad. The bacon/kale salad was delicious but I was the bacon was a bit crispier. The classic pizza(pepperoni & something) was perfect. Just cheesy enough. I wish I could have eaten more than the 1.5 piece I ate. But I even struggled with that. I’m getting hungry even writing this…

Great pizza… Nearly perfect crust… Whole wheat too. See zap video review at . Also good value. Salads were good but not great. One big complaint– a good margherita should have LOTS of FRESH basil. Still– highly recommended.

They have a decent lunch special, but my office tends to come here only if we call ahead because they take about 10 – 15 minutes. THECOST: $ 10 for a pizza slice and a salad(lunch special). I added $ 2 for the Kale & Brussel Sprout Salad. * Spinach & mushroom deep dish slice — 3.5 stars Fine, not terrible but nothing special either. Their cheese tends to be a little hard & congealed. * Kale Salad and Brussel Sprout Salad(Brussel sprouts, organic baby kale, bacon, green apple, red grapes, sherry vinaigrette) — 3 stars The vinaigrette is super sharp. There was something about the flavors that didn’t all sit quite right with me. the sweetness of the grapes didn’t go with the salad, the brussel sprouts seemed old and had a bit of a briny flavor. The bacon pieces were a bit soggy. I also didn’t realize this was baby kale, which is like a really tough spinach. Just not what I was expecting.

Patxi’s is the goto place for some good old Chicago style deep dish! The good — great service. Incredibly tasty pizzas. The Greek pizza with artichoke and spinach and the vegan style on freshly baked whole wheat are amazing. Be careful with the quantity though. The medium is probably good for 3. We wound up boxing half of it. Right before heading out to a movie in the classic Aquarius theater right opposite The not-so-good — loooong wait for seating and then for our order. Can’t blame them, since this was a sat evening. But we almost went into a coma waiting for our order.(35mins). Recommend you place your order right after you enter while you wait.

I love the pizza but they have a big problem delivering the right pizza. A few weeks ago I ordered through their online ordering which uses postmates. Pizza took an hour and a half and was the wrong pizza. They credited me but I had to start over and wait another hour and a half for the right pizza. The restaurant contacted me on Unilocal and offered to send a gift card. But no gift card ever came. Today I was craving the pizza so I ordered through door dash. An hour and a half later– guess what? Get a call from the driver who had to take the pizza back because it was wrong. I may have to give up on ever getting delivery from this place. Good thing I ordered at 4:45. Maybe I will get the right pizza by 8

Danny’s Unilocal 2016. I used to love coming here for Deep Dish Pizza and recently I came back and it wasn’t just the same for me. The Deep Dish pizza texture doesn’t taste as great as before but the service was still the same. which is excellent. Food: + 10inch Deep Dish Pizza with pepperoni, pineapple, & black olives. $ 24 + 2 Ice Tea. $ 3 each Conclusion: I’m not sure if I’ll be back.

The minute me and my date walked into here, we were seated right away and greeted. We went with the favorite pizza 10″ and it was perfect for the two of us since it was a total of 6 slices. It came out nice and hot. Our server was attentive and was very friendly. Minus one star though cause the Cesar salad did not look the freshest it could be.

We stopped by 2 weeks ago to pick up some pizza dough — the dough and pesto sauce was delicious. My rating is for their pizza and also for their customer service. We were promptly greeted by the restaurant manager who offered to help us. He was polite, courteous and very knowledgeable. We have tried almost every pizza place in the Palo Alto area and these guys are by far the best! We will certainly return!

Best, or second best, Chicago style pizza in the Bay Area. Butter lettuce salad is a nice addition to any meal. Wait is 30 – 45 for a pizza, but it’s worth it. Parking at the Palo Alto location can be a nightmare, but that has nothing to do with the restaurant. Visit a location with a parking lot.

Unacceptable on all levels. Not only were we ignored and left standing at the door for 20 minutes, we were then quoted a 55 minute wait and when we did get a table no-one showed up for 15 minutes until I walked to the bar to order myself. While the staff was nice they are grossly overworked and the manager rude to his employees in front of guests, really?!! Then he proceeded to charge for an extra topping when we subbed one meat for the next. By this time I was so fed up and utterly dissapointed that it really did not matter that the pizza tasted good. Personal pizza for my son tiny, mich better value getting a 10 inch. The deep dish is good, but the poor behavior of the manager would keep us from ever returning. There are too many great dining options in the area to patronize an establishment who does not know how to treat his employees or patrons, avoid!

Pizza and beer? I’m there! I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my weekend vacation to the Bay. It was my first time having deep dish pizza and it was amazing. My roomie and I shared a 10″(6 slices) Matt Cain(pepperoni and sausage), which was perfect for two people. The saucy, cheesy, meaty perfection of every slice makes me want to come back despite the service. The only problem I had was the wait for our food. After a long day of work and a delayed flight, I was starving. It was rather busy when we arrived but we were seated immediately. Once we put in our order, it took quite a while for pizza to come out(maybe 30 min). I had to flag down our waiter to ask. We had to wait a few more minutes to finally get it and the waiter noticed my dissatisfaction with the service so he made sure to check on us. I hope that the next time I come back, service is a lot better because the pizza is delicious.

Well first off; my friend Von called this place at 7:12 p.m. First off they said one hour to Stanford hospital then my friend called ten minutes after the hour they said it on its way so by time it got here it took two hours to get here at 9:12 p.m. on the dot in the front near the fountains and suppose call him when the driver get here. Why two hour wait when it’s only 1 mile away from here, I think that’s hilarious too. Well when the driver got here, either the store or the order taker, misspelled my friend name(which so funny cause I’ve heard him spell it out twice with person on the phone with him and then when he called again). Then«they» wrote down a wrong number(same thing twice beforehand and one more time when my friend called them again). But hit the clock 9:05 p.m. I’ve told my friends(Daniel and Von) to go downstairs cause they might get lucky. So they went downstairs saw the the driver, no apologize from the driver at all, saw the order all wrong name & number. Paid him, and when they brought it up its not steaming or hot; nope but barely warm, come on now! Well we tried our best to tear it apart but the cheese congealed together(which sucks) but when we had our pieces at same time we all said it was just«ok». It was was our first time here and last time ever, I can’t wait to tell: my family, all of my friends, and my Church family to never come here, I would suggest«Pizza my Heart» any day over this place. If there was a half a star, that what I give this to rate this place, but you can’t, never order from this pizza joint in the future ever again.

My «real Chicago» pizza snobs of a boyfriend and his best friend calls this place the closest to Chicago deep dish as we can get in California. We usually get a large Favorite to share, with a meatball appetizer and maybe a salad if I’m trying to be healthy. A large is usually enough for us, with the boys having 2 slices each and me one and we get to take home leftovers, cause good pizza is even more amazing the day after. Definitely get some beer and wine with some appetizers because it takes about 40 minutes for a deep dish to come out after you order. I took away a star because our server was just… okay. He wasn’t super friendly and sociable, just kind of doing his job and leaving to hang out by the bar with other workers.

Today I popped my Paxti + Postmates cherries. I tried both for the first time and quite pleased with the outcome. I’ve got that after pizza glow… fo show! I decided to join the cool kids and finally get my Paxti on. I’m VEGAN and it’s hard to find pizza places that have vegan #pizzaporn but after seeing so many scandalous pictures of Paxti’s pizzas on the internet I decided to take the dive into their deep dish end. I also used their delivery option through Postmates because I’m straight up straggle rock today in PJs and messy hair, I DON’T CARE, so not about to go waltz into the restaurant myself. Here’s the deal. I called ahead to ask which of their crusts are vegan. They have recently changed their recipes and now ALL crusts at Paxti’s are vegan. #BoomShackLacka The order taker, Cornelius, was incredibly nice as well to answer my questions. I hung up and ordered online. I was throwing a pity party for myself earlier but nothing a pizza cant fix. The order: Deep dish with corn meal crust, extra Daiya vegan soy free cheese, heavy on the sauce(my specific words were«GOWILD»), mushrooms, spinach and red onions + a gentle reminder to please not forget the extra Daiya cheese. It took 45 minutes to complete my order and another 25 to deliver. The entire time I was hella turnt up on what my first bite would be like. Mmm, Sadistic pleasure of sinking my chompers into a scrumpdiddlyumcious slice of Heaven. The Pizza: It came with red pepper flakes which I used. I wasn’t as thick/deep as I thought it would be based on some skilled photos I’ve seen but it was still delicious. It was covered with zesty sauce on top and the slices broke apart easily which allowed some of the sauce to ooze off. It was pliable and held a plethora of sauce and perfectly/evenly cooked veggies inside. NO wilted spinach, my OCD checked. The cheese did NOT taste nappy. It was salty and creamy. My tongue had an instant you know what. #PervPizzaPoints The cornmeal crust soft enough to crunch into but didn’t break my crowns or pop my partial dentures out. Amen! It isn’t super oily either, it’s more buttery but remember it’s still vegan. The pizza gets better by the bite, honestly you have to just keep going and be prepared for carb coma + gut glory ahead. Their deep dish is fork and knife pizza. Get yourself utensils or bib or go savage and sport a pizza beard, your choice. Prices aren’t cheap but neither is the quality of the ingredients used. Slices are filling. This is ultimate GRUB style pizza not pansy pizza. You’ll get a good belly bust here and your stomach will HATE you for days. But OMGut … PIZZA!!!

The Bride and I came to Paxti’s to drown our sorrows after Notre Dame suffered a soul crushing loss to a bunch of lame Trees this past weekend. This turned out to be a good call. We were starving so we started out with the Antipasto plate. The cornucopia of meats and cheeses were tasty and delightful. For our main dish we shared a small Matt Cain. As a person that travels to Chicago quite a bit, I was very impressed with this(non)little slice of NorCal Deep Dish. But here’s where the fifth star comes in. I had a pint of Drake’s to start off the night — a great local beer. I was looking over the rest of the beer list for a new contestant for round two when our waiter noticed the not-impressed look in my eye. «Um, have you ever heard of a beer called Pliny?» Saying this to me is like giving me the secret password to the ancient heaven of Irish Delights. But while I may have felt the urge to grab this young man by the shirt and scream, «BRINGITTOME!» I decided to play it cool. «As in Pliny the Elder? Yes, I’m familiar with it.» «Well we have a case in the back. Would you like some of that?» «WHYAREYOUSTILLTALKINGPUTPLINYINMYMOUTHHOLE!!!» I may have responded with slightly more tact but everything was a blur at this point. Needless to say, our waiter came back carrying a cold bottle of Pliny the Elder and a fresh glass.(It is rumored that these were the only two ingredients used when God created the universe but this can not be confirmed at this time.) So well done, Paxti’s. When your time is up you will be welcomed into my kingdom.

It’s been years since I’ve been back here, and they’ve made some changes under new management. We got the deep dish special pizza(sausage, mushrooms, peppers), and the crust was done very nicely. It was a bit almost buttery and flaky while holding up really nicely, and the edges were baked well. The ratio of cheese and tomato sauce to the filling was also good. Delivery is free if you spend more than $ 24, but it’s quicker to just do pick up/take out. They have a warming oven up front for the pizzas that are ready for to go orders, which is really nice.

I came here for dinner with a group a few Saturday’s ago. We had drinks at Gravity close by and someone from the group went and put our name down and gave them our order so that the pizzas would be ready sooner. The total wait time was around 45 minutes. We ordered the artichoke dip as an appetizer and two large deep dish pizzas for dinner. The pizzas came around 15 minutes after we sat down, but our appetizer never made it. We asked the waiter and he was like«oh yeah», and he brought it out after our pizzas. At that point, we didn’t need the appetizer anymore. Our intention of ordering an appetizer was so that we wouldn’t have to stave off hunger for too long. The waiter didn’t bother to apologize for not having our appetizer out without us having to prompt him, which kind of bothered me. He was also pretty aloof from our group. In terms of pizza, I liked the Greek pizza and would order it again, but I much prefer Blue Line. Would I come back? Probably, but hoping for better service next time.

A cute looking pizza joint located near Stanford! The first time I got Patxi’s was takeout at the office and I must say having it in the restaurant is so much better! We got the custom deep dish pizza with herb roasted chicken, red onions, and spinach. It took about the usual 30 minutes to cook. I loved the oozing red sauce with the melted cheese. Also, the crunchy crust was an added bonus! I like how all the ingredients are placed under the red sauce to really incorporate everything. Also, they have yummy red pepper flaked olive oil to dip your crust in! My boyfriend and I managed to finish the 10″ pizza, which was 3 slices each. But I’d say if you aren’t super hungry when you walk in here, you’ll probably have leftovers!

This is how I like my Chicago-style pizza! The pizza was thick, hearty, and rich in flavors. Sometimes Chicago-style can be like«pizza-soup» with more of a watery consistency for the tomato sauce. Not here, which is what I prefer. Since it is deep dish, it takes a while to cook, so we got a lovely fresh salad as an appetizer. A very fun aspect of the pizza was using honey on the crust at the end of the slice, which is a main selling point of their pizza. The honey offered a sweet, dessert-like bite at the end of all that savory goodness. This place was hoppin’ on a Saturday, so there was a wait. But they flipped tables fairly quickly and we only waited about 20 minutes, shorter than expected. The server was friendly and efficient. The lesser star is based on how tables are placed in a fairly small space. We were sat at a table right next to the bar, which made it a high foot-traffic area for servers to get to other tables and patrons to get to the restroom. This is fine because they were maximizing space, but was a bit annoying to keep getting bumped.

Really good pizza. Had my first deep dish pizza, the special and it was everything I could have wanted. Cooked to perfection and took some time since it was a deep dish. We sat ourselves at the small bar where there were a lot of staff, but service was a little hectic. They were busy(it was a Friday night) and I had to grab their attention to get a menu after sitting for several minutes. Overall good experience and good food in a clean place with smiling faces. I would definitely go back and perhaps if order a classic thin crust to see what I might be missing out on.

First I want to start by saying that I had really high expectation of this place because of Unilocal and my friends. I was so excited myself that I convinced my boyfriend to sit in traffic for 1.5 hours from SJ to PA on a busy Friday evening… just to try Patxi’s. Food: Four stars, the food was great. I ordered a 10 inch half Californian(for me), half Matt Cain(for my meat loving boyfriend). Our benchmark was Giordano’s, so the bar was set pretty high, but Patxi’s did a good job. I especially love the fact that they have healthy options(whole-wheat dough, low-fat mozzarella, fresh veggies, etc.). I absolutely loved my pizza, it was everything a health nut could dream of. I tried my boyfriend half and it was also good, not the biggest fan of red meat, I expected it too be overtly salty, but it wasn’t at all. One of the things I loved most was the red pepper oil, it was way better than crushed red pepper, I wish every pizza joint offered it. Likewise, don’t pass up the honey, it’s there for a reason, put some on your pizza and you won’t regret it. We saved our crusts and put honey on it… cheap and delicious dessert without spending more money! Price: Reasonable pricing considering this is Chicago-style deep dish and you’re in Palo Alto. so I’d say, pretty affordable. Ambiance: Small, cramped, very busy on a Friday. Come early, be prepared to wait and pre-order if you can. Service: Here we go, in case you wondered why the two stars. One of the worst customer service experiences ever, I would have given them one star had the food not been so delicious. Let me start by saying I pre-ordered at 5:25pm to be exact. We arrived and were seated immediately at 6:00pm, but didn’t receive our food until about 6:30pm, tell me why it took one entire hour, what was the purpose of pre-ordering? I understand deep dish takes forever, but I’ve been to Giordano’s during peak hours and the place was 10X busier and the food did not take this long. I was so hangry, my boyfriend asked one of the hostess if our order was coming and she went to check on it and literally came back out, but never said a single word, no update, no nothing. I then proceeded to ask our inattentive waiter if our food would be ready soon, at this point I had lost my appetite. Our food finally came out and not a single employee ever apologized or gave us a reason as to why it took so long, and to be honest the pizza was rather cold… the cheese wasn’t fully melted and the pizza was not divided properly. It was delicious, but maybe that is because we were so hungry. My boyfriend’s half had spinach in it and my half had chunks of sausage. I picked out the sausage and ate the pizza because I was so hungry… I should have complained, but I just wanted to eat and get out ASAP. What made this situation worse was that our waiter rarely acknowledged us the entire time, he would disappear for long periods of time. I only had my water refilled once, but I had to raise my hand to get his attention. I watched a father and his daughter stand up and almost walk out because their food took so long, I guess this is common for Patxi’s. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone that has an appetite, is impatient or cares the least bit about customer service. I don’t care how good the food was, we are NEVER coming back here. Overall: Food was good, service sucked. ‘Nuff said.

I’m from the Midwest… as as everyone knows, Midwesterners are generally husky because they love pizza. Specifically, Chicago-style deep dish pizza. I’ve lived in California for six years and have yet to have good pizza… so when a friend said that he was going to take me to have some authentic Chicago-style pizza, I objected. He assured me that Patxi’s was the real deal… and he was right. This is, hands-down the best Chicago-style deep dish pizza I’ve had outside of Chicago… and I’d even go so far as to say that Patxi’s rivals any place in downtown Chicago. They nailed this pizza. The proportions of cheese to sauce was dead-on… and the crust(which really defines the pizza) was perfect. I wish we lived in NorCal so we could go to Patxi’s more often.

Returned with the welcoming of the manager. Ordered a large ½ hawaiian ½ californian whole wheat crust deep dish $ 32 to go. Can I just say, WOW to the cheese factor? I LOVE how much cheese there is. Crust, layer of cheese, toppings covered with more cheese and topped with sauce. Mmhmm I like the cheese factor! My dad thought his hawaiian still had too much sauce but I’ll say it looked perfect since my half had just the right amount and it looked the same. He just prefers less sauce so if you do too, maybe ask for it on the side and add however much you prefer to your slice. Whole wheat is healthier, not quite as good as the white flour crust but hey, being healthy is a good thing! If it’s your«cheat day» go with the go to deep dish, it’s a sure win!

This is an update to my review from a few days ago. Jay, the manager at Patxi’s was kind enough to contact me, in reference to my review, and informed me that I should not have been charged for substituting one veggie ingredient for anther. After speaking with him, he remedied the situation. I am very appreciative that he contacted me and wanted to make things right. This gesture of kindness really makes me respect this restaurant even more. What can be better than excellent food and excellent service? Will return again… very soon!

Patxi’s was founded by Bill Freeman and opened it’s first location in Palo Alto in 2004. Mr. Freeman who absolutely loved pizza got together with an old pal of his and came up with the idea and concept. While Bill was an entrepreneur and his friend Francisco«Patxi» Azpiroz was a top notch pizza maker and came up with the recipes so he named it none other than Patxi’s after his friend. Patxi’s which is uniquely pronounced«Pah-Cheese» specializes in what most know as Chicago Deep Dish pizza. They use the freshest ingredients as well as locally grown ingredients for their masterpieces. While they are considered a chain restaurant/pizzeria, they only have 15 locations throughout California, Colorado and Washington. Walking inside their restaurants is breathtaking, with their brick walls and dark wood tables and chairs you would think you were in an actual Chicago Pizzeria. You get a nice warm welcome here, everyone is very friendly from the waiters and bartenders to the director of corporate catering! This is an absolute plus because customer service can make or break my perception of a restaurant regardless of how good the food is. I’ve been interested in trying this place out because I have never tried real deep dish pizza, I’m so used to the typical thin crust pizza. Their menu is not too big and the main star is their deep dish pizza but they also have thin crust pizza, various salads, meatballs and other small plates to share. That’s what I’m talking about a no frills menu! I’ve tried a few of their deep dish pizzas like the Spinach Pesto, The Matt Cain and The Special. All of them were loaded with tons of ingredients, tons of cheese and of course a heavy layer of their homemade tomato sauce. The Matt Cain was my favorite of the three because it was loaded with lots of yummy sausage in every bite. Their meatballs and thin crust Margherita were also very good. If you really enjoy eating deep dish pizza I would highly recommend this place and even if you are a lover of thin crust you should give that a try as well. Whenever I’m in the mood for deep dish this will be my go to place.

Patxi’s really does live up to reputation. This Chicago-style deep dish pizzeria welcomes you with the smell of tomato sauce and garlic all around. My friend and I came here mid-afternoon after not having eaten all day. Needless to say, we were starved. We ordered: — 12″ half Matt Cain/half Greek deep dish — the Matt Cain has pepperoni and fennel sausage. The meat seemed like it was almost between the cheese and the crust. The sausage was so tasty; I wish there was more sausage because it was so delicious, but it was the perfect amount for the pizza :) the Greek half had artichoke hearts and… some other stuff. It wasn’t quite as good as the Matt Cain, but still pretty good. The pizza overall was delicious. The cheese was stringy/stretchy and not at all too much. The marinara sauce was a rich with chunky tomato bits in it. The crust, though, was probably my favorite part — perfectly crispy on the edges and the bottom of the pizza. It didn’t get soggy and was able to support the full weight of the pizza :) SOYUM — Greek salad — I honestly just needed veggies. They used butter lettuce, which is a little unusual for Greek salads, red onions, red and green onions, while olives, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, and Italian dressing. Nothing special, but still good. — meatball — I don’t know WHAT was in this, but it was SO good. It came drenched in marinara sauce(probably the same as on the pizza) and some delicious toasted bread. The meatball itself was huge, probably the size of a medium-sized fist. We were definitely yearning for some more meatball after devouring it! I will definitely be coming back!
