This place looks like a total hole in the wall but don’t be fooled. It’s the best sushi in the Antelope Valley.

We went for my birthday lunch because of a recommendation from a friend and the reviews. I had a lunch combo — the sushi was just OK. It was a little on the warm side(temperature wise) and did not taste fresh to me. The one piece of albacore was excellent. The roll was smaller than I’m used to and was just OK — not a lot of flavor. My husband had teriyaki chicken with tempura vegetables. The chicken was under done and the tempura was soggy(not crunchy). On the plus side the beer was ice cold and the service was above average. A disappointment at $ 50 for lunch. I’m not sure where everyone’s going for their sushi to make the statement that this place has the«best sushi in the AV». For the money Miso Sushi is much better in my opinion.

Surprising to find such a good sushi place out there. Everything was fresh and well prepared., They even make fresh/REAL wasabi and use real crab meat unlike other places(i.e. Big Tuna who uses fake crab meat and synthetic wasabi and their fish is frozen until served — yikes). Highly recommended.

Shogun has been our favorite Japanese restaurant for the past 20 years. BEST authentic Japanese food and the sushi is fresh and delicious. If you appreciate quality sushi… Shogun is the place for you. While there are many sushi restaurants in the AV Shogun, is locally owned and operated by a Japanese family unlike many others. It is simply THEBEST!

Shogun has some of the freshest sea food, period! Mt wife, not a sea food person has mentioned that there is no fish smell to the restaurant, a testament to its freshness. Every meal has been fantastic and consistent over the years. My wife has found some non sea food favorites. I have had several sushi rolls and the«chef’s choice» taster plate and has always been great! Not a «fast food» joint and probably not for small kids. Its is cozy, so will fill up on evenings, so go early or be patient.

Food is great, master chef and great staff will be back often. The fish is very fresh is the difference is obvious. It’s off the main drag but it’s worth it.

This is by far the best sushi I have ever had anywhere! The restaurant is very small and tucked away, we missed it the first time we drove by. The establishment is humble, refined and minimalist. Service is great! we were taken to our seats immediately upon entering. The food is to die for, it is so different from all of the wannabe sushi restaurants you see everywhere with gigantic rolls deep fried and drizzled in mayo sauce. The rolls are simple, and made with great experience and respect. The rice is perfectly tender and sticky, the fish is super fresh, and all of the flavors are expertly balanced. I felt so fortunate to be eating such authentic refined food from such a talented chef, it was a true pleasure to eat there, and I will never eat at another sushi shop again. This is is, my new favorite spot.

The only complaint I have about this place is that it isn’t open on Sundays! The fish is so fresh and flavorful it converted me into a sushi/sashimi fan! You can’t beat the service either. The service is amazing and they are so friendly. I recommend the sushi or sashimi dinner combos. You seriously will not regret coming here.

The best sushi and Japanese dishes I ever eat. Fish is very fresh and everything tastes really good. The Menu is quite extensive and everybody can find something that will satisfy their taste. I love their sushi, miso salmon, golden salmon, tempura, gyoza, miso soup, and rolls. I have taken my friends there, who never had sushi or other Japanese food before and thought that they would not like it, to let them discover what they have been missing.

This is a diamond in the rough. Located on an isolated street in East Palmdale, this is likely the best sushi restaurant in the Antelope Valley. I had one of the dinner combinations: the braised yellowtail collar with sushi. It was a succulently cooked fish and very fresh sushi standards(tuna, yellowtail, albacore, and salmon). My dining companion(hi, mom!) had a small combination with miso glazed salmon and tempura crab that impressed a hard-to-impress eater. I sampled some of hers and can attest that it was delicious. Another clue to the quality of this restaurant was the number of apparent regulars that dropped in during our meal. Most of them personally greeted the waitress and Masa himself, making small talk as he labored behind the sushi bar. One tip: get comfortable and give yourself plenty of time. This is not fast food, but instead a treat.

By far the best quality sushi ever. Better than any I’m Beverly Hills, better than anything in Newport, etc. This is real, real good!

Have been in twice since my initial visit and most recently last weekend. They service as usual is friendly and they seemed to have picked up some additional wait staff. They are attentive in refilling drinks and checking to make sure everything is ok. The interior is nicely clean and nicely decorated. It’s a good place to sit down and enjoy the company of friends or family and talk while enjoying some delicious food. I always opt for different nigiri pieces and also a yellowtail roll. It’s simple and delicious. Masa as always is a true master of his craft and the sushi is phenomenal.

I come all the way from Philadelphia PA to eat at Shogun. Best sushi in the Antelope Valley. Masa is a sushi master. Service can be slow but it’s definitely worth the wait.

Good quality freh sushi. Quiet, calm atmosphere. A tad pricey but only by two or three dollars as far as my standards go when it comes to sitting down and enjoying sushi by the piece. Overall I enjoyed my visit.

A tiny hidden gem, if you’ve ever known one! I only found this place via a coworker. I ate here 10 years ago and was in the area again for work. I was not going to consider this most recent trip complete without dinner at Shogun! Miyoko, the owner’s wife, will serve you with a smile. Massi will prepare your sushi. Massi drives 84 miles every other day to the fish market and selects only the finest cuts of fish. The cuts are gorgeous. I had the sashimi combo with assorted Tempura. I drank cold sake. I sat at the bar and learned how Massi chooses his fish. Give thanks he takes such pride in his selection and presentation. Please check them out and enjoy. You will not be disappointed!

Yes, the food good. With the hassle? Meh. I don’t think so. Worth the time and wait? Yes. But I checked the attributes and it said it was good for kids. NOITISN’T. no high chairs, no booster chairs. So we spent the better part of our evening out wrestling our 2 year old. $ 100 dinner for 2? No full bar, no high chairs and not even a decent bathroom. There’s clearly piping problems in the dining area that were poorly repair that just adds to the ambiance of central Palmdale. I rather go to Big Tuna or Tokyo Steak then deal with their Mickey mouse way of doing business.

If you are looking for high quality sushi by a master sushi chef, look no further than Shogun. Masa is a master and he takes his sushi slangin very serious. Having been a sushi chef in my younger days, I was fortunate to have been taught some of the ins and outs of proper fish mongering and Masa and Shogun embody a great deal of best in class. There is nothing fancy with the décor but seeing how the star of this show is the sushi, it is acceptable. It’s a little small so no more than 6 – 8 people in a group. Prices are reasonable considering the quality. If you live in the AV you might feel it is pricey. But it is worth the extra dough if you want top notch sushi. Service can be slow. I believe it is only Masa and his wife who work there though, so it is truly a «mom and pop» joint. If you are looking to quickly get in and out for lunch or dinner you may want to pass. If you are looking for a more lively environment, I would say Goldfish is a better choice. Same holds true if you are going with friends who may not appreciate high quality sushi and really just want some sauce covered rolls or cooked rolls. Not to knock Goldfish because I think it’s great and their fish is pretty good. It’s just not Shogun quality. Overall, if I had my choice(and unlimited fundage) this would be a weekly stop for me.
