Cute little spot. Fast and very friendly service. I had the banana walnut pancakes, they were good. Husband had the biscuits and gravy and said they were alright. Coffee was good. Pleasant experience overall.

Food was good. I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries. I always try the simple stuff first. The service was very warming an inviting(Nora the owner) gets in tune with her customers. I recommend this place

Right off the 10 easy breakfast spot on the way to Arizona from Los Angeles. The lady that welcomed us was so sweet and attentive. Seemed to know a lot of her customers by name. Food was good and fast! Bathroom was clean :) will be back!

This is one of the valley’s best kept secrets. So if you are looking for somewhere different this is the place to come. The food has always been Delicious and have not been disappointed they have a good thing. This time i ordered the grits and they were made Perfect with hash browns and scrambled eggs. Stopped here on a whim, absolutely happy with everything! Great little breakfast/lunch diner. The Soup of the Day was chicken and vegetable and you could tell it was made with a lot of love. My friend got a great salad and my boyfriend had a California grilled cheese — everything was super tasty and hit the spot. Tastes like home cooking and the service was so friendly.

Great breakfast and fun bantering with Nora, I highly recommend this restaurant. Remember you have to go around the building to the other side to find it on GPS.

I wanted to eat some diner food for breakfast but didn’t want to pay the«ritzy» prices of Palm Springs. I found Karen’s Café through a Unilocal search and thought it would be a descent, not-super-greasy spot to try. It’s off the 10 freeway but it’s nestled in a business complex, actually on the other side of the street(the entrance is not on country club drive). It’s a tiny spot with a very friendly waitress. Portions were good – not huge. I ordered the corn beef hash, which was not homemade(or at least it didn’t appear to be) but it was still very good. The eggs were literally perfectly poached, which is hard to come by. My friend ordered the special omelette with spinach, mushrooms and onions, which she also found to be good and great portion sized. This was definitely a better option than anything in Blythe where we were coming from.

Just passing through town on the way home from a road trip. It’s not hard to find but you do have to look because it is in a business area. Pretty little decent place to eat. Service was great, food was average. I had eggs, sausage and hash browns with sourdough. My fiancé had the breakfast burrito which was good. The burrito was wrapped with a sundried tomato tortilla which gave it a good flavor and the salsa was pretty good(seemed to be homemade). The portion was just right, not a lot and not too little which is perfect if you don’t like to take left overs. Some might say it may be a little over priced for the portions but not by much. It’s a small place but clean. If I was in the area I would eat there again.

What can I say about Karen’s Café? Best kept secret in the desert! I’ll start with the food. Yummy! I love the breakfast burrito & salsa with a large OJ! The biscuits and gravy AMAZING! But if food isn’t all you go to a restaurant for than you are in for a real treat. Nora(the owner) is a gem! She makes you feel like you’re the only table in the joint. She cares about her regulars and she is a smiling face to everyone who walks in the door. This is the real deal, down home, good olé boys breakfast spot. We love it and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Dated looking corner café in a business section in Palm Desert. Karen/Nora was warm, welcoming and friendly. First impression is the smell. Musty, mold? Powerfully overwhelming when we were seated in the dark corner. Must be a leak in the wall behind us as outside there is a water facet. Moved tables closer to door and air. Great improvement. Best solution would have been if it were a warmer day and we could have been seated outside. Coffee mediocre. But, again, Nora was sweet. Food also mediocre. The omelette was dry. The potatoes bland and boring. Cranberry bread just slightly interesting but eh. What struck me most was the friendliness of Nora and the relationship with her clientele. That is as far as it goes unfortunately.

Amazing breakfast spot! A gem away from other food areas. The food is served in just the right portion: not too mich and not too little. Don’t come here if you’re trying to pig out hahaha. I always get the omelettes, California or Greek, and my wife gets the breakfast burrito. All are awesome, but what makes this place even better is Nora. She’s a great lady who somehow keeps conversations going with all guests while serving everyone by herself. She gives this place a great vibe. Highly recommend eating here if you’re in the area.

We decided to try this breakfast place in the desert, after being a little underwhelmed with the other breakfast places around the Bermuda Dunes area. We came a little bit before closing, but we have nothing but good things to say about this place. Good food, reasonably priced with a very very friendly vibe. We will definitely recommend Karen’s to all our friends and family in the desert. While other places will give you attitude for coming in late, this place will give you a smile and an extra cinnamon roll. Love it! P. S.: get a cinnamon roll.

This is a really good and inexpensive place for breakfast and lunch. ‘Nora is very friendly and welcoming, and her hubby is in the kitchen. She bought the café from Karen, and it’s a great place. She used to have an ocean-view place in Manhattan Beach before selling and moving to the Valley, so she knows what she’s doing. The breakfast food is very good. I had a perfect breakfast, not greasy or overwhelming. Two perfect poached eggs, buttered sourdough toast, bacon, and hashbrowns, cooked extra crispy, as I had ordered. The coffee is a little on the light side, but that’s an easy fix. DH had the 3-egg omelet.(They ALL are.) He said it was one of the best he’s had in the Valley. He ordered it with bacon, broccoli, cheese and mushrooms. He liked the fact that you could actually find the bacon and taste it in every bite. It wasn’t busy the morning we were there. It was the Tuesday after Labor Day. «Nora said the Monday holiday was quite busy, so I guess they’re all sleeping it off at work today. lol We always go on lab days, after fasting. So we are READY. We certainly will be back to try the other menu items, especially the sandwiches and other breakfast choices, including another favorite of mine, grits. Today we ordered what we use to compare kitchens. They passed with flying colors. So try it out and let me know what you think. BTW take Country Club east from Washington, and turn right at the Park Center light, then right on Springfiled. Look for the French Chef statue.(Hint: there;s a bakery right next door.)

Nora is amazing, running around keeping her place running during the crazy Coachella crowds. The food is decent — well prepared and solid 3 stars, but Nora’s passion gives it the push into 4 star territory. The place is tough to find as it is around back, behind an industrial park with minimal signage, but the line out the door with frequent locals lets you know that this is the place to be. Not much to be said for fresh fruit nor savings for vegetarians, but it’s a good local spot for eggs and toast. Just don’t expect them to be free-range.
