This place isn’t «Asian Fusion». It’s a generic American Chinese food place. Nothing special at all. Slightly over priced in my opinion. It also made my boyfriend feel sick and he threw it all up later that day.

Favorite to go restaurant in Ojai! Melody always offers service with such gratitude and a smile! I wish I knew the cooks there because they never disappoint! They also have a Chinese menu that is different but you gotta know the language to enjoy!

The dishes are very good. Twice cooked pork was tender, but the veggies crisp rather than heat wilted. Eggplant with garlic was one of the best. Cooked well to take it out of the undercooked range, without being mushy. We asked for very spicy, but not salty, and they delivered. No brown rice, which is inexplicable for Asian fusion. The white rice which came with the dishes might has well have been sticky rice balls. Too much water and overcooked!

Ordered my food online within Unilocal via Eat24, very easy with standard prices(no extra charge) and you are notified when the food is ready to be picked up. I ordered Kung Pao chicken very spicy and it was great! Fresh jalapeños added to the dish, great flavor. Service was nice when I went to pick up my food. Overall great take-out and will definitely order again.

Food was ok. Definitely not authentic, but I guess that’s why it’s called«Asian FUSION». However, service was great! My waitress was very friendly and quick.

I just had another pleasant meal at this restaurant. Today it was one of their under $ 10 lunch specials. In prior visits it was for dinner. I’m surprised this restaurant isn’t busier. Although not exotic it is well prepared, good portions, very comfortable dining room and among the best service in town. [Melody is the one who I see most often]. Full bar reasonable prices and they satisfy my hunger when in the mood for Chinese cuisine. Today I had the Szechwan beef lunch. I will attempt to add a pic of the Thai pineapple rice I had last time. still figuring out this Unilocal app.

I took my family here one weeknight and granted it was later: we had the entire place to ourselves. Which at first I thought was a bad sign— but the food was pretty good, large portion sizes and the menu is an eclectic mix of Asian favorites… Which amounts to a lot of different noodles and rice. The interior is clean and simply decorated. I have seen this same building be several different Chinese restaurants over the years, it has changed quite a bit from the old blood red leather, sticky cushion seats in the dimly lit dining room. The waitress was attentive, of course we were the only people in there… She became a little chatty with us and got denounced back to the kitchen by an unseen gruff foreign command, which started us a bit. Than later a customer came in for a pick-up order and she became a little flirty with him, and than with my husband as he was paying the bill, I kept giggling waiting to hear the voice haul her away again. So overall this was a dining experience for us. But we will definitely return… Sorta like when you pause on a Japanese Soap Opera when you flip through the channels.

Good fresh food but no family style combo meals. Food was good and fresh and lots of leftovers. A little bit pricey but this is Ojai.

The food here is excellent, and the service is great! I have stopped in here several times and am always glad to go back, by far the best Chinese in the ojai valley. This place is quickly becoming a regular restaurant for me. The prices are reasonable and the food is always delicious, sent out promptly, and the service is fantastic!

Damn good Chinese food! Not from around here, and I must say better than some places out in the L.A. area. I have no idea what some of these people are complaining about.

Never had an actual lunch or dinner here, but a while back around the time they first opened, a friend and I got a shrimp appetizer and a couple beers in the bar and they gave us mayonnaise for a dipping sauce. Mayo for a dipping sauce at a Chinese restaurant — wtf? And the portions were small as well. Also, their prices are pretty damn high, but that’s Ojai for you.

Just tried this since the name and menu changed. Very impressed. The food is excellent. Very fresh ingredients and gourmet, and a HUGE improvement from the last time I visited this place(before the name and menu changed). The best curry I think I’ve ever had. The staff is so nice, very accommodating. I will go back for sure! Udon is also excellent. Good bar with very tasty drinks, too. Highly recommend!

I recently visited the restaurant with my bookgroup. There were 10 of us and we reserved the separate room so we could hear ourselves against the music and laugh out loud without bothering other diners. The remodel of the space looks great and Melody the Manager was super accommodating(separate checks for each of us, several questions, and honoring our reservation event when our group ended up at almost half the size we originally reserved for). I can’t speak for the rest of the group but I had the Kung pao shrimp and really enjoyed it. They even allowed me to add broccoli to the dish making it extra delicious. Check it out. The changes that were made by the new owners are very positive. The only reason I’m not giving them 5 stars is that I’ve had better Chinese food, but for Ojai, they definitely do pretty darn good.

We were looking forward to trying this new restaurant. The Won Ton soup was good. The Garlic Chicken had very little flavor… we did not taste any garlic. The beef dish was better than the chicken. The main problem for me was every waitress and the waiter kept coming to our table asking if everything was ok like every few minutes. It was way too hovering. We could not really even have a conversation. I like an attentive waitress but this was way over the top.

By far, the WORST meal I have ever had in my life. No BS, the WORST. The won ton soup broth was plain. The pot stickers were from a bag. Our entrees were horrible. The walnut shrimp sauce was literally mayonnaise and the lemon chicken sauce was honey in warm water. No lie. I have never written a review and am compelled to, due to the magnitude of how bad the food was. We inquired about the poor quality and the waitress apologized and said that’s just how we cook it. That sucks. $ 80 and we didn’t even eat it.

The staff was nice/polite… Not attentive, but pleasant just the same — even after sending my water glass back twice, each with lipstick(not mine). The soup hot and sour soup was good, miso, took more than 30 minutes(only 4 other tables) and was«so so» and didn’t have any tofu — packet comes to mind. We watched several tables arrive well after us and receive their entire meals before us. We didn’t order anything difficult. Once our food arrive we found it to be flavorful and delicious. All and all — worth a try, bring patience and enjoy the conversation with those you are with.

Good food. Good service. Like the new décor. Miss the free crunchy noodles and fortune cookie. Cucumber in the water? Didn’t seem to fit. Slow to bring the bill. Over all good.

My husband and I stopped in here after seeing that AJ’s was no longer. The sign in the window includes legal change of ownership. Despite the name Asian Fusion Garden, the menu was mostly Chinese(American styled). The menu also keeps things simple, with fewer selections, but standard classics. We ordered the large Wor Won Ton soup, I had the pineapple fried rice and my husband got the General Tsao’s chicken. Our drinks came out quickly and were just as ordered, however my soda tasted very weak. The bowl of soup was the smallest large I’d ever been served. It filled three cups and that was about it. I liked the variety in the soup, including carrots, snow peas, chicken, mushrooms, shrimp, won tons and asparagus, but the vegetables were quite al dente, even for my taste and the won tons had a really thick, unappealing dough. I would not be quick to order this again. I enjoyed my pineapple fried rice. It comes out in an entire pineapple, baked in. The shrimp was good, and the chicken was okay, though had more bits of tendon/connective tissue than I would prefer. My husband said his chicken was okay, but he prefers the dish at other restaurants that use a thinner batter and better chicken. No crunchy things to welcome us to our table, and no fortune cookie at the end of the meal. Staff was polite and attentive. The restaurant was slow when we visited, so sometimes the staff seemed overly attentive, but that wasn’t so bad. Our orders were filled correctly and the restaurant was clean and attractive. We may come back here, as it’s the only Chinese restaurant in Ojai, but it won’t be a new favorite without some improvements.
